Job Description
NBCUniversal’s Studio Operations group within the Operations & Technology Services organization has an opening for an experienced Vice President of Production Services Operations. Reporting to the SVP of Studio Services, the VP of Production Services Operations has full P&L responsibility and leads the development strategies for delivering best-in-class production services to all internal NBC Universal productions and third-party clientele. Those services include Set Lighting, Grip, Administration, and Transportation teams.
The position is responsible for providing the vision, leadership, and a collaborative execution of strategies, policies, and goals in alignment with those of NBCUniversal and the Operations & Technology Services leadership. Immediate emphasis will be around driving the development and implementation of a Studio Services strategy focused on leveraging data and insights to identify efficiencies and opportunities to enhance our client’s experience, and long-term initiatives that contribute to the advancement of our organization and financial health.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- In Partnership with the SVP of Studio Services, help define and implement the operational strategy, structure, and processes for Studio Services.
- Develop an analytical culture using historical and current operational data to drive predictive analytics for the business.
- Enable more disciplined management of service, cost performance, and optimization initiatives through the design and development of reporting and analytics.
- Own and define the key performance indicators (KPIs) and diagnostics to measure performance against the Studio Services strategy.
- Implement processes and systems that generate higher productivity, and measure gaps between actual and desired levels of process capability, employee performance, service levels, and other key business outcomes.
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of Universal’s offsite Production Support operations in Los Angeles, New York, Illinois, New Mexico, and Georgia.
- Work with the Market Development Team to manage the annual budgeting process and P&L responsibilities.
- Coordinate divisional support needs with HR, finance, and support service business.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the financial expectations and requirements put forth from a production point of view.
- Ensure that capital strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs.
- Influence direction amongst multiple operations with the goal of providing exceptional production service support.
- Work with internal teams to launch new products to the rental market.
- Partner with the Market Development Team to build global growth strategies in high-volume markets.
- Collaborate with production, studio services, and other supporting departments to establish plans that will best allocate resources.
- High degree of interactions with departmental heads, including matters of accounting, facility management, and other departments.
- Deals with contractual issues as it relates to the jobs that are taking place, such as deal memorandum and pricing, which ultimately helps drive met the goals of long-range plans.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of senior management expertise overseeing production studio services, or supply chain operations, or logistic experience managing large-scale multisite operations.
- Experience with complex operational, process, and performance improvement projects, including process mapping and process re-design.
- Demonstrated leadership in building a culture of continuous improvement for process and operations, and a track record of successfully managing large teams across locations.
- A strong understanding of working in a union environment, including contract knowledge.

- Ability to maximize productivity and wiliness to think outside the box and challenge the status quo, while also evaluating permissibility under industry contract agreements.
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, entrepreneurial, and subjective environment that balances operational efficiency and data analysis with high-quality standards and a sense of urgency.
- Experience working with all levels of personnel (executive level, managers, operational supervisors, and crew).
- Financial acumen and capital planning capabilities, including experience in developing, implementing, and reporting on multiple operational and capital budget plans.
- A strong ability to oversee and manage P&L statements across multiple operations.
- Ability to identify training needs and develop programs to increase operation capabilities and expand the interchangeability of employees across all operations within Studio Services.
- Technologically savvy, collaborative, confident leader, familiarity with multiple computer production operating systems.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style based on the audience.
Salary Range: $190,000 – $250,000; bonus and long-term incentive eligible
