PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Sets creative tone that upholds brand standards and maintains global brand consistency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of art direction and/or graphic design experience.
  • Be highly creative, imaginative, collaborative and positive.
  • Excellent track record of creative concepting, design and implementation.
  • Proven leadership skills with at least 4 years’ experience of managerial experience, including the management of creative teams (e.g. photographers, producers, graphic designers).
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Solid presentation, oral and written communication skills.

About the Role

The studio manager is responsible for the general operations of the photo studio. They will be in charge of ordering supplies, keeping the equipment organized, and maintaining the shoot bays and workstations. During e-comm shoots, they will also give production support and be the main point of contact from a location standpoint. The ideal candidate has experience working on photo sets or in a studio setting and has some working knowledge of photo equipment and/or digital capture, asset management, and image software. We will be able to train the right person who has other important skillsets, but this person should feel generally comfortable working on the computer and learning new platforms and software. This position is full time and in-person. There is potential for growth in this role depending on the skillset that is brought to the position. There could be opportunities in production and/or digital asset management.

  • Creating organizational standards for the photo studio as a whole
  • Maintaining and organizing shoot bays, capture stations and workstations
  • Stocks/orders studio supplies
  • Keeping photo equipment organized and in working order
  • Opening and closing the studio during photo shoots
  • Generally acting as the Production Assistant during on-figure photo shoots: orders crew lunches, stocks craft supplies, prints documents, ushers talent, etc.

Vuori is seeking a Ecomm Art Director with an excellent eye for studio photography, fashion art direction experience, and excellent planning and time-management skills, to join our quickly growing creative team. This role will be responsible for directing the visual aesthetic of our ecomm photoshoots, and managing freelance talent to ensure that our photography is on-brand and the highest quality. This person will have extensive experience in the fashion and active apparel industry, leading photoshoots for aspirational global brands. The Ecomm Art Director will report to the Sr. Art Director and will partner with the Studio Producer, Product Marketing Manager and the ecommerce team to make sure images are accurate, on-schedule and on-brand.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

This role is an important leadership role on the Vuori creative team. This person will own making selects for our ecommerce channel, which is an incredibly important part of our business. This person will collaborate with multiple teams, and will be open to feedback while still maintaining the creative direction for brand photography. The Ecomm Art Director will oversee both on-model and off-figure photography. This person will work under the direction of the Senior Art Director, and will be required to complete tasks on-time according to the ecommerce studio processes.

  • Make selects for all ecommerce photography, including on- and off-model. Selects must be completed on time, organized according to our studio needs, and be in the Vuori brand aesthetic.
  • Partner with the Studio Producer, Sr. Art Director and Marketing leads to curate model selection and update as needed, seasonally. Create moodboards to support presentations and discussions.
  • Direct models and freelancers on set, clearly communicating specific notes to achieve on-brand, best-in-class imagery.
  • Direct flat-lay and pin-up stylists and photographers on set, clearly communicating specific notes to make sure all off-figure photography is aligned to our style guide, and retouched correctly.
  • Create moodboards, and go-bys for freelancers so they have clear direction for photography, crops, poses, hair & make-up and styling.
  • Make retouching notes and crops in the Vuori studio software management system in a timely manner, meeting the studio deadlines
  • Oversee image quality upon receipt from the retouching vendors. Partner with the Asset Manager to make sure images are retouched accurately, named correctly and organized in the correct folders in our DAM.
  • Keep up to date with emerging trends in fashion, design, film, art, media and technology as relevant to ecommerce photography.
  • Work closely with the Studio Producer to continuously improve processes and make sure all ecommerce creative operations are working as smoothly as possible.

Education/Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or combination of relevant education, experience and training
  • 7-10 years leading art direction in an agency, editorial or marketing environment, working in fashion, active, and/or lifestyle category.
  • Accountability to follow processes that are time-sensitive and affect multiple work-streams and teams.
  • Highly skilled at working with freelance talent and clearly communicating direction to ensure a desired result.
  • Highly skilled at making selects according to brand direction. Will integrate feedback and adjust selections accordingly.
