We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Creative Director to join our company. As the Creative Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading and inspiring our creative team to deliver innovative and impactful solutions for our clients. Your expertise will drive the development of compelling design strategies, brand identities, and engaging digital experiences that align with our clients’ Ecommerce objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the creative team, including UX/UI designers, and copywriters, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Develop and execute creative strategies and concepts for client projects, aligning them with business objectives, brand guidelines, and Ecommerce best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their vision, goals, and target audience, ensuring the creative solutions meet their needs and expectations.
  • Provide strategic guidance and creative direction throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development to final execution, ensuring consistency and quality across all deliverables.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging design technologies, and Ecommerce innovations, incorporating them into creative strategies to enhance client outcomes.
  • Oversee the development of compelling brand identities, visual designs, user interfaces, and interactive experiences that effectively communicate client messaging and drive engagement.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on creative deliverables, ensuring they meet the highest standards of creativity, usability, and brand consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, marketers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of design solutions within overall project requirements.
  • Present and articulate design concepts, strategies, and deliverables to clients, fostering strong client relationships and successfully addressing their feedback and concerns.
  • Mentor and inspire the creative team, nurturing their professional growth, and fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in a creative leadership role, preferably within an agency or consulting environment, specializing in Ecommerce technologies and services.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of creative projects, demonstrating expertise in branding, digital design, user experience, and Ecommerce-focused design.
  • In-depth knowledge of design principles, typography, color theory, and user-centered design principles, with a passion for staying updated on design trends and emerging technologies.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a creative team, fostering a collaborative and inspiring work environment.
  • Proficiency in design software and tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate creative concepts, strategies, and ideas to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.

About the Position

Hemlock is looking for an Art Director who will play a vital role on the leadership team. This position will report directly to the CEO and help develop and execute the company’s creative vision that brings Hemlock’s story to life. This person will work closely with our marketing team to ensure that all the visual and creative content aligns with our overall marketing strategy.

Big picture items will be focused on creative and visual direction, creating processes, as well as management and oversight of the creative team. This position is responsible for creative materials that support the finished product, brand ethos & strategy and drive overall brand awareness.

The day to day will involve conceptualizing and executing compelling on-brand content. This will include all creative form of medias, social content, website visuals, product packaging, B2B assets and creative email campaign direction.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate has a passion for design and brand vision with the technical chops to turn their ideas into reality. This person can conceptualize and execute on creative and visual content to help drive our brand message and products to the next level.

Equally important to the creative aspect is the interpersonal aspect. This position will need to effectively manage the internal creative team as well as supervise and work with outside creatives: photographers, videographers, models, graphic designers and hair and make-up artists. Being able to clearly communicate their objectives, visual direction for creative concepts and shoots, and meet tight deadlines all while adhering to the brand guidelines is a must.

This person needs to be comfortable with ambiguity and figuring out the best possible path towards our goal. To start, this role will not have a direct report but will be responsible for building a team as the organization grows. We need someone who is not afraid to “get their hands dirty” and help with the day-to-day work, even if it is a little outside the scope of the Art Director’s responsibility.

Overall, we are looking for a specific type of person who has the capability to balance creative work, technical skills, project and people management, and most importantly aligns with our culture and shares our values.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of design and creative work experience
  • 3+ plus years of direct management experience, including hiring and recruiting talent
  • Be able to understand the brand ethos and conceptualize and execute on creative and visual content
  • Knowledge of the fashion/apparel industry is a plus
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Be able to understand a company’s goals and create a visual strategy to help achieve their objectives
  • Project management and meet deadlines across multiple projects
  • Eager to learn and continuously develop their professional skillset

Compensation

Salaried: $100,000 – $120,000. Full Time, Exempt
