The Position 

Raven Theatre seeks an Artistic Director to join its Managing Director, Staff and Board to further implement its mission statement: telling stories of today and of the past that connect us to our cultural landscape. This is a shared leadership position with the company Managing Director. The Artistic Director works directly with the Managing Director, with support from the Board of Directors, to meet the goals of the organization. The Artistic Director reports to the Board of Directors.

The Organization 

Raven Theatre is in its 40th year of producing innovative revivals of modern dramas and thought-provoking new works for the North Side Chicago community. It does so by presenting revivals, Chicago premieres, and world premieres (some of which Raven has commissioned).  The organization operates a respected, robust and well-rooted theatre arts education program that engages youth and school communities in the surrounding Chicago neighborhoods and beyond.  In addition, the Raven operates its wholly owned 10,000 square foot building with two stages (seating 57 and 85) and administrative offices.

Recently, Raven has become an Equity theatre, building its capacity and quality of production. Raven has accumulated numerous awards and accolades over the last 40 years. Most recently, its productions of “The Last Pair of Earlies” and “The Luckiest” from its 21/22 season were both nominated for the Jeff Award for Best Production.

Responsibilities of the Artistic Director Include: 

  • Leads all artistic, educational, and engagement activities – supervising artistic staff and working with staff and outside partners to bring vibrant and compelling programs to the theatre’s audiences, students, and community  
  • Champions the company’s mission, vision, and work to all stakeholder communities, including audiences, donors, media, staff, board of directors, and community members
  • Contributes actively to the theatre’s development initiatives, focusing on fundraising, donor cultivation and community building
  • Engages in the regular strategic planning processes, actively advancing Raven Theatre’s organizational goals
  • Advocates for arts education programming and its team of teaching artists, upholding the program as an integral component of the organization and the community.
  • Cultivates relationships with itinerant theatre companies to bring the best Chicago storefront theatre to the Raven Theatre’s Schwartz Stage, continually identifying potential artistic collaborators
  • Serves along with the Managing Director as the public face of the theatre, representing Raven Theatre in community and city-wide professional theatre events, discourse, and celebrations
  • Maintains a network of local and national theatre professionals, staying current and active in the theatre community at large and identifying new talent and emerging voices
  • Supports and oversees all artists and technicians engaged in Raven Theatre’s programming while creating a spirited workplace and fostering strong collaborations
  • Maintains a presence at all significant theatre events: opening nights, fundraisers, audience engagement activities, and first reads
  • Serves as an ex officio member of the Board of Directors, regularly working and communicating with the Board of Directors

Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will likely have:

  • Leadership style that engenders respect and enthusiasm from stakeholders, focusing on collaboration in a team environment
  • Proven track record of developing programming that generates excitement and discourse
  • Experience developing and producing new work
  • Values equity, diversity, and inclusion in programming and staffing and has demonstrated that value in previous work
  • Demonstrated ability to program within budget constraints and with timely planning for successful and smooth execution
  • Working knowledge of the Chicago theatre community
  • Experience working within an arts organization
  • Experience responding to the pressures of working in a not-for-profit arts environment
  • Demonstrated organizational development and management skills
  • Preferred experience with cultivating and stewarding board and donor relationships
  • Ability to forge a strong and meaningful partnership with the Managing Director

Compensation 

The salary for this position is $55,000 annually plus participation in the theatre’s healthcare plan (choice of HMO or PPO), 14 paid vacation days, and 14 federal holidays. Relocation funding may also be available.

We are looking for a Sr. Art Director, who is asolid designer, one with a unique design eye, and highly skilled in retail messaging and in-store signage.

This is a true designer’s account where vision and attention to detail are always recognized and celebrated. We create work for just about any channel, including print, digital, video, interactive and experiential, so good knowledge of the Adobe suite of programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, INDD, XD with UX and UI design a plus.

· One who can work with a team and manage project workflow from concepting thoughtful on brief ideas, through layout and design to finish production.

· Comfortable talking through their thought processand approach to the project work.

· The ability to concept and create a POV from Insight to idea.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

The Club Lounge Manager will ensure the highest level of service for all hotel Club guests. The Club Lounge Manager will work closely with the Managers of the Front Office in order to create seamless arrivals, stays, departures and Club Lounge food and beverage services.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

  • Supervises the day-to-day operation of the Club Lounge service on the Club floors.
  • Ensures that Langham’s 1865 recognition program for guests is in place and executed according to 1865/LHG standards.
  • Uses leadership tools to help create a culture of empowerment for hourly colleagues so that they make decisions leading towards building great memories.
  • Controls costs effectively to meet budget guidelines. Has control system in place for all controllable costs and man hours.
  • Initiates additional tasks to improve existing procedures and guest satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the interviewing and selection process of Club Lounge attendants.
  • Ensures that service standards are being met or exceeded consistently by all staff.
  • Assist the front office with the management of the arrival queue and avoid unnecessary and excessive delays on high demand days and weekends.
  • Oversee and maximize the guest experience for our VIP accounts, American Express Fine, Virtuoso, Trip Advisor, etc.
  • Work as a liaison between Sales and the Front Desk to maximize the overall experience for Sales and Group VIP guests.
  • Coordinate VIP arrival times and special requests with housekeeping and engineering.
  • Inspect VIP rooms and correct any room deficiencies prior to arrival.
  • Coordinate VIP amenities and delivery times with Private Kitchen.
  • Ensure follow up throughout the guest stay for all VIP guests.
  • Ensure that all VIP guest needs are communicated throughout the respective departments and the hotel. Note these needs and preferences in OPERA.
  • Hold weekly meetings with the MOD’s and Housekeeping to review and discuss strategies for upcoming guest arrivals.
  • Assist the Front Office MOD’s with lobby presence and management duties.
  • Actively promote Chuan Spa and the F&B outlets to Club guests and all hotel VIP guests.
  • Attend key hotel operational meetings and communicates appropriately with subordinates so that all colleagues are well informed. Initiates monthly departmental meetings.
  • Assist with the awareness and promotion of all Room and F&B promotions.
  • Maintains strong relationship with the culinary team and Food & Beverage team re: daily food and beverage presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Front Office.

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to effectively deal with colleagues and guests alike, some of whom will require higher levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information.
  • Has the ability to run both a guest reception department as well as a concierge desk.
  • Ability to use the PMS and 1865 programs and guest room key making system.
  • Ability to solve challenges and use good judgment when interacting with guests and colleagues.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes and luggage up to 100 lbs. continuously throughout shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in one hand to be able to load and unload luggage.
  • Strong preference for someone with international experience and ability to speak additional languages.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum of 5 years in a luxury hotel and it is preferred this individual possesses a thorough knowledge of the City of Chicago. Needs to have a minimum knowledge of F&B service standards. Strong preference for someone with international experience.

We are looking for music educators to join our Music Education Services department for teaching positions! This role will provide music instruction at local schools. Ideal educators will have a passion for teaching music and a high level of energy. Interviewing now for Fall 23 School Year!

Essential Functions (not all-inclusive):

  • Teach music classes in schools both in group settings and in one-on-one settings based on contracts with each school. Class sizes vary from a few students to over 50 kids.
  • Use recruiting tools, set up instrument testing events, recruitment nights, and other programs to entice kids at a school to join the band/orchestra program. This may require on-site activities after school hours.
  • Prepare lesson plans, curriculum and benchmarking for all students, report on the progress of students against those benchmarks via progress reports and report cards. Benchmarks for each instrument and experience level will be provided.
  • Maintain quality relationships with school administration and principals to secure schedules for classes, notify schools of changes to classes or schedules, and notify the office if students are not attending or have other issues in class.
  • Coordinate concerts, solo & ensemble activities, and other events and performances to engage with students and parents.
  • Work with retail store and education representatives to make sure students have the instrument and supplies necessary to be successful in class.
  • Teach summer lessons and continuing education activity to students that wish to continue over the summer.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
