We operate a 50/50 agile working policy between half of your time working from home. Your 2-3 office days will be split between our Burton on Trent office, our agency partner in Manchester or in our pubs in the North and the Midlands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver a comprehensive PR strategy for each brand; setting clear direction to the team and retained agency on objectives, communications challenges and ensuring the PR plans adhere to the strategy
  • Draft and oversee the output of all press material for the division – announcements, press releases, photo-call notices, features, website copy and media packs
  • Play an important role on the Press Office 24/7 function providing strong reactive media statements and strategic guidance during business issues/crisis.
  • Direct external agencies and ensure they are clear on the strategy, objectives and ambition for the division, conducting quarterly reviews and feedback sessions
  • Create detailed periodic and annual reports for senior leadership that clearly demonstrate the value PR activities are adding to the business, as well as ensuring the prompt delivery of comprehensive campaign evaluations that capture key learnings and recommendations
  • To work closely with all content and channel owners to ensure through-the-line activity is activated effectively, especially with social media to ensure we maximise owned and earned media opportunities
  • Develop key relationships within the commercial team – food, drink, insight to ensure campaigns are maximised and a collaborative approach is optimised

Job Description:

This role is accountable for managing a team of 10+ media buyers, evolving our media buys through negotiation and executional creativity as well as ensuring we steward our media campaigns through optimizations, attention to detail and timeliness. This person will lead the buying discipline, but also must be okay with digging into the executional details when needed to coach and to deliver solid campaigns to clients. Responsibilities:

  • Act as a leader across multiple client teams and identify/implement growth opportunities within client sets. Increase the quality of campaign implementation through execution of new ideas, partners, placements, etc.
  • Work with media planners to help inform strategic recommendations that meet client marketing goals and objectives. This may include inventory/avail guidance, brainstorming solutions and/or completing research to back recommendations. In addition, this role will help with new business projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Ten+ years of media buying experience, with preference given to agency background. Demonstrated experience guiding buying strategy and plan evolution across traditional and digital tactics.
  • Possess up-to-date knowledge of the digital media marketplace and buying platforms (display, native, SEM, social, video, etc.) Familiarity with third-party ad servers, programmatic options and reporting dashboards required. Ideally should also have experience with traditional media (Spot TV, Radio, Outdoor, etc.) as well as media at the seams (OTT, streaming audio).
  • Solid management history of leading direct reports, including coaching in tactical excellence and facilitating upward career movement/learnings.
  • Desire to collaborate with planning Associate Directors and Media Director on team and product advancement, including development of new products/services, support of team professional development and management of SOW hours/profitability.
  • Clear understanding of and experience with leading the media buying process, with eagerness to advance media strategy for clients. Strong knowledge of marketing concepts and best practices.

3. Minimum 4 years of related experience, ideally for a nonprofit organization;

4. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills;

5. Proven track record of successful work with various media outlets. Previous broadcast and journalism experience, preferred;

6. Demonstrable experience helping lead marketing and public relations campaigns;

7. Ability to successfully lead multiple teams through breaking news processes, including press conferences and media responses;

8. Experience with crisis communications, a plus;

9. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, a plus;

10. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail;

11. Proven ability and experience working in a collaborative team environment with a strong customer-centric focus;

12. Familiarity with issues related to the LGBT community and a passion for the Center’s work and mission;

13. A creative and detail-orientated self-starter who can work quickly and independently in a fast-paced campaign environment, managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines;

14. Willing and able to work evenings and weekends, when necessary;

15. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
