Shonda Rhimes is one of the most powerful women in Hollywood.

With several hit TV shows on ABC including the long-running Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, it is reasonable to believe that one phone call Shonda Rhimes can make an actor an A-lister. However, in a recent interview, Shonda Rhimes revealed that she actually killed off a character from one of her shows because she didn’t like the actor.

“Have you ever killed off a character because you didn’t like the actor? And extra bonus points for who it was,” Larry Wilmore asked Shonda Rhimes when she visited his Comedy Central show.

After taking a brief pause to gatehr her thoughts, Rhimes replied: “Yes …and I’m not naming names.”

Her response got fans’ wondering which actor was killed off because of their bad acting or personality.

Many people think Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), who was killed off Grey’s Anatomy last year. However, there are plenty of other people including Harrison Wright (Columbus Short), James Novalk (Dan Bucatinsky), Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) and Denny Duquette (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

During the TCAs, Shonda Rhimes admitted that killing off McDreamy on Grey’s Anatomy wasn’t an easy choice. “We had a lot of discussions about it,” she said. “It wasn’t easy or fun, it is never easy or fun. We’ve been working really hard for a long time together. We’re family. Those choices and those decisions are never easy for any of us.”

In addition, Shonda Rhimes revealed that Short’s battle with drugs and legal issues led to the ending of the actor’s TV acting career.

The director of The Revenant, Alejandro G. Inarritu starring Leonardo DiCaprio reveals what it took to make The Revenant and what it’s like to make an epic movie.

Alejandro G. Inarritu’s latest movie, The Revenant is probably one of the most controversial movies he has ever made. Over the past few weeks reports have surfaced regarding set horrific set conditions for The Revenant that forced many crew members to quit and even Leonardo DiCaprio called the movie one of the hardest movies he has has ever worked on.

The Revenant’s Budget Problem

The Revenant’s budget was set at $60 million, but according to producers “it wasn’t based on any reality, no one had done any location scout or production schedule, it was just lawyers making a deal,” explained New Regency president and CEO Brad Weston. “We believed in it. … Along the way, it was a living, breathing movie.” Endlessly supportive, he said of Inarritu, “Every single creative decision he’s made has made the film better. … Great directors make great movies. Executives don’t.”

 Alejandro G. Inarritu revealed what made this movie different and why the movie went over budget.

“There hasn’t been one day of The Revenant that hasn’t been difficult or challenging,” Inarritu admitted during the Producers’ Masterclass panel, held Saturday at New York City’s Time Warner Center. “This is the most ambitious project of my life, on many levels.”

Alejandro G. Inarritu continued by saying, “when you don’t know what you want and you don’t know how to get it,” “when you know what you want but you don’t know how to get it,” and his reason for trying not to compromise.

“We all knew what we wanted, we knew how to get it, but every obstacle was in the way [of what] we needed, and we knew what we needed. … No scene was added, everything was written, but we were just trying to accomplish what we had from the beginning.”

One of the biggest challenges for the movie was the fact that Inarritu decided to film the movie sequentially, something that is a no-no in major motion pictures. But, The Revenant director defended his filmmaking himself comparing himself to God.

“That’s the only way I understand the story and the characters, and that’s the way I leave the story room to grow and understand it, and make changes to suddenly what is required to do. As filmmakers, sometimes you are god, and sometimes you are a creature of the thing. In a way you have to be humble to hear what’s going on and see the transformation … even when it costs a little more. I’m not investing in visual effects, but emotional effects, and I think actors understand the emotions better when it’s chronological.”

Alejandro G. Innaritu said he casted DiCaprio as Hugh Glass because of DiCaprio’s age and ability to remain in character throughout the entire production process. Even though production was paused so DiCaprio could film The Wolf of Wall Street, Innaritu felt DiCaprio’s philanthropic efforts toward environmental issues demonstrated the actor’s personal commitment to the role.

Here’s the real reason why Ben Carson will not appear on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

Earlier this week, Jeremy Renner was interviewed by Business Insider about whether he would be willing to negotiate his pay alongside his female co-stars in the future. Jeremy Renner ended up saying it was not his job to do that and he has to focus on acting.

The question came following an open letter written by Jennifer Lawrence, tackling the issue of the gender gap in Hollywood, and in particular the fact she got paid less than her “American Hustle” co-stars, a detail that was revealed following the Sony data hack.

Jeremy Renner’s response made him seem like he didnt’ care about women’s rights, which pissed a lot of people off.

Wonder why you’re gaining weight? It’s probably because you’re addicted to cheese.

Basically everyone is trying to lose weight. If you’re an actor, then you may need to shed a few pounds to look perfect on screen. If you’re a model, then you may need to lose a few pounds for your next photo shoot. If you’re single, then you are probably going to the gym to look good for your soul-mate. But, at every TV, movie or model photo shoot there is always a crafty table. You know the assortment of snacks made available to cast and crew members to eat between scenes, set-ups, and production delays.

It was recently announced that cheese is addictive. Americans currently eat about 23 pounds of cheese, a number that has since tripled since 1970. A study by the University of Michigan looked at which foods are more addictive than others. After 500 people completed the Yale Food Addiction Scale, something became pretty clear. Cheese and more specifically pizza, is as addictive as most drugs.

The reason why we all love pizza has to do with cheese. The study found certain foods are addictive because of the way they are processed. The more processed and fatty the food, the more it was associated with addictive eating behaviors.

But, what causes cheese to become so addictive. Well, it’s because of an ingredient called casein, a protein found in milk products. During digestion, casein releases the feeling of happiness, also known as casomorphins, a particular type of opiate.

“[Casomorphins] really play with the dopamine receptors and trigger that addictive element,” registered dietitian Cameron Wells told Mic.

That sucks. Your cheese addiction has been validated by science. But, it is important to point out that cheese is not alone. Oreos were tested and found to be more addictive than cocaine.

Apparently, along with cheese, our bodies are wired to enjoy sugary, fatty foods. But, the addiction to Oreos can be harder to kick than cocaine, according to a Connecticut College reasearch team in New London. Researchers experimented on rats using a maze with rice cakes on one side and Oreos on the other. The rats were observed on both sides of the maze.

“Just like humans, rats don’t seem to get much pleasure out of eating rice cakes,” Joseph Schroeder, who led the research team, told UPI.com.

The experiment also studied the pleasure center of the rats’ brains and found that the Oreos activated more neurons than cocaine or morphine.

“Our research supports the theory that high-fat/high-sugar foods stimulate the brain in the same way that drugs do,” Schroeder told the Connecticut College News. “It may explain why some people can’t resist these foods despite the fact that they know they are bad for them.”

NBC cancels ‘The Player’.

Despite it being Wesley Snipes’ attempted comeback into the entertainment industry, it looks as though NBC will cancel The Player after only 9 episodes.

According to Deadline, NBC has cut the number of episodes of The Player from 13 to 9 episodes.

NBC cancelled the player after the ratings were not up to NBC’s standards. The series did have major competition facing against Thursday Night Football and a World Series race. But, The Player will not live to see another day.

The Player was developed by the producers of NBC’s The Blacklist, a TV series which still dominates in the ratings week after week, had poor ratings despite a promotional push by the NBC network.

The Walking Dead has a major ratings problem. Week after week, the ratings for The Walking Dead have continued to drop.

Following the summer spinoff series, The Walking Dead has continued to showcase more zombies than ever before, new enemies and a ton of drama. While the franchise seems to be getting bigger The Walking Dead ratings are sinking, and it has led to a drop in stock price for the AMC company. Just by looking at the first two episodes of The Walking Dead Season 6, it’s hard to understand why AMC is so nervous. The premiere brought in 14.6 million in total viewers and hit the key demographic of 18 to 49 with 9.4 million. The second episode went down from the premiere, with 12.2 million viewers overall and 7.8 million in the 18-49 demographic. While, ratings tend to decrease after the premiere episode always tend to drop, the biggest issue is the fact that the the ratings for this season of The Walking Dead are not as impressive as the previous seasons, and it has stockholders worried. In fact, after last week’s episode aired to lower-than-usual numbers again, AMC’s stocked plummeted. According to Deadline, AMC’s stock dropped 6.3%. That means someone out there just lost millions. The Walking Dead’s ratings for the first episode of season 6 show that the overall audience has grown by 33% and the viewers in the target demographic grew by 36% percent after the numbers for the DVR were added to the ratings. But, that’s not great for advertisers, whose revenue from buying commercial time from AMC are not increased by DVR viewing. But, it is important to point out that ratings can increase after competition finally dies down. The Walking Dead has been competing against major Sunday Night Football matches such as the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts, the rivalry which brought forth the scandal “DeflateGate” to the limelight. And, The Walking Dead was competing against the MLB World Series race. The Walking Dead ratings will most likely increase once baseball seasons ends and less popular football games air on Sunday nights. But, Wall Street is not taking any bets and if audiences continue to grow tired of The Walking Dead, expect major changes to happen in the near future. The Walking Dead airs on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.

Vin Diesel’s The Last Witch Hunter is getting bashed by critics with many people saying it should be the last time Vin Diesel plays that character ever again.

As of Friday morning, The Last Witch Hunter had only a score of 18 percent approval rating from a total of 45 different critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

So it begs the question – what makes The Last Witch Hunter so bad? Well, according to critics, bad acting, bad graphics, bad script, and a bad plot.

The Los Angeles Times calls it “One of those artlessly restless, exposition-dialogue fantasy-action slogs …” While the Globe and Mail critic, Manori Ravindran explains that “Seemingly at every juncture, the finality so necessary to up the stakes of this story is quickly snatched away in order to tease a sequel or two, leaving you wondering what the point of this supernatural exercise was in the first place.”

Boston Globe’s Tom Russo bashed producers for casting Vin Diesel, saying : “Even with Diesel’s oblivious self-miscasting – he’s a producer on the film – “Witch Hunter” feels like genre material that might have found a way to work.”

Chicago Sun-Times critic Richard Roeper called the movie obnoxious.

“It’s just deadly and dreadful, loud and obnoxious, convoluted and irritating, horrible and dumb. Vin Diesel lumbers and mumbles his way through a performance so bad it makes his work on the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise look like vintage Tom Hanks by comparison.”

Toronto Sun critic Bruce Kirkland calls out Vin Diesel’s lack of acting skills in The Last Witch Hunter. 

“‘The Last Witch Hunter’ is a horror-comedy. As horror, it is laughable. As comedy, it is horrible — except for a couple of silly Vin Diesel moments as he plays the title character. Designed as a possible movie franchise for Dungeons & Dragons freaks, but likely destined for the box office trash bin, ‘The Last Witch Hunter’ takes place in contemporary times with a prologue set in the mid-1300s … There is not a single scary moment in the movie, despite the overwrought efforts of the effects team deployed by genre director Breck Eisner. Meanwhile, the chunky and clunky Diesel cannot effectively deliver most of the funny lines, either. So ‘The Last Witch Hunter’ fails to find the right tone. It is not even bad enough to be good camp comedy.”

With so many bad reviews expect The Last Witch Hunter to appear in the bottom rankings in the Box Office this weekend.

The director of American Hustle, David O. Russell, finally responds to that scathing Jennifer Lawrence essay on sexism and the gender pay gap in Hollywood.

David O. Russell’s favorite actress has to be Jennifer Lawrence. He puts her in basically every movie he works on. For example, Jennifer Lawrence was in Russell’s American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook, and the upcoming feature film Joy. 

Recently, David O. Russell responded to Jennifer Lawrence’s comments on sexism in Hollywood.

“I always support all my actors and all their opinions, and I want them all to get what they need,” Russell told the Hollywood Reporter at a fundraiser Wednesday. “I don’t really talk about the minutiae of what goes on in my movies, but I believe the spirit of what Jennifer is saying is truthful to her heart. I support her and all women in that.”

David O. Russell continued on by saying: “When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with d???s, I didn’t get mad at Sony,” she wrote. “I got mad at myself. … I would be lying if I didn’t say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight. I didn’t want to seem ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.’”

Jennifer Lawrence’s essay, which was published last week, revealed her constant frustration following the Sony Hack revealing that she earned way less money than her male costars in American Hustle. 

Russell continued by saying to The Hollywood Reporter, “I understand what she’s saying, and I think people in the business do too, and I also understand people saying, ‘Well, let’s talk about the minutiae of the deal.’ It’s hard to make a movie come together with a lot of big stars. American Hustle had a lot of big stars in it. We all contributed to help make it happen.”

Russell is the latest American Hustle cast and crew member to respond to Jennifer Lawrence’s essay. Bradley Cooper recently told reporter that he will start working with female costars in order to negotiate equal pay. Meanwhile, Jeremy Renner said that it’s “not my job”.

I AM CAIT was just renewed for a second season.

According to reports, E! has just picked up a second season of I Am Cait. I Am Cait, a reality series about Bruce Jenner’s transition into Caitlyn Jenner, will premiere a second season in 2016.

“Caitlyn’s story has ignited a global conversation on the transgender community on a scale that has never been seen before,” E1 EVP Jeff Olde said in this morning’s announcement. “We are honored Caitlyn has chosen to continue to share her ongoing story with our viewers around the world.

This should not come as a surprise as the ratings for I Am Cait were great for women between the ages of 18 to 34, the key demographic.

I Am Cait was first revealed earlier this year, after rumors went wild online. It was officially announced on April 23rd the same night ABC aired their highly anticipated two hour 20/20 interview with Caitlyn Jenner.

“For all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” Jenner told Diane Sawyer during the 20/20 interview.

Get ready for a ‘Cruel Intentions‘ reboot adapted for NBC!

Cruel Intentions was a Box Office hit movie in the late 1990s. It helped launch the career of Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon and Sarah Michelle Gellar. The movie was so popular it made $75 million dollars on a $10.5 million budget.

Now, the cult classic movie is being turned into a TV series. NBC has reportedly given the script commitment to develop a Cruel Intentions drama series.

The new Cruel Intentions series will center around Bash Casey, the son of the characters played in the movie.

The new series will be developed by the original movie’s writer and director Roger Kumble .

Cruel Intentions centers around the story of 16-year-old Bash Casey, the son of the late Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe) and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon). After finding his dead father’s journal, Bash learns of his family’s legacy he didn’t know existed. As he tries to find answers, he leaves Kansas to go to the prestigious Brighton Preparatory Academy in San Francisco. He later finds himself confronting money, sex, power and corruption.

Cruel Intentions is based on the novel Les Liasons Dangereuses by Choderlos de Laclos. Kumble will direct the TV pilot.

Cruel Intentions is not the only movie turned TV series. Cruel Intentions will join Think Like a Man, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Taken, Lethal Weapon, Training Day, The Notebook, In The Line of Fire.
