The Evaluator is a member of WGU’s faculty. The Evaluator is a subject-matter expert and professional individual contributor with level knowledge within associated specialization/discipline. Evaluators apply their own subject matter expertise and experience utilizing a rubric created by program and assessment development faculty and applied consistent with WGU, Evaluation Department and team policies and procedures. The Evaluator crafts personalized, robust feedback to support accurate scoring of student responses and in furtherance of student progress. Work plans and schedules for Evaluators are broadly defined and require the Evaluator to develop specific work plans and schedules to provide accurate and fair evaluations, with helpful (robust & personalized) feedback. Evaluators cooperate within and between teams to meet the department’s commitment to students for a quick evaluation as defined by university leadership. An Evaluator maybe asked to contribute to the development of functional and organizational content, practices and objectives to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Such contributions may involve working with other functions within the Evaluation Department and/or with other departments. High performing, experienced Evaluators coach/mentor team members and assist colleagues.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- The Evaluator’s work is situational and highly complex, requiring analysis and evaluation of student responses to assessment task prompts to achieve a secure, valid and reliable determination of competencies for degree programs.
- The Evaluator applies university, department and team policies and procedures in scoring work and crafting helpful, robust and personalized feedback to support students in developing competency and progressing with their degree program.
- On occasion, an experienced Evaluator maybe called upon to create and implement methods to improve student success and evaluation processes.
- The Evaluators work is critical to each student’s experience and success at WGU.
- The Evaluator works individually and collectively, as part of a content-specific team, to meet individual, team and department objectives to be accurate, fair, helpful and quick in an environment that is a great place to work.
- The Evaluator works effectively and reports worktime accurately, in order to be good stewards of the student’s tuition dollars.

We are looking for an experienced board-certified music therapist to serve on an interdisciplinary clinical research team in the inpatient/acute hospital setting at Boston Medical Center. Our research program is focused on the prevention and treatment of hospital-acquired delirium in older adults. The primary patient focus will be on patients with neurological conditions, specifically Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The music therapist will be helping design intervention protocols and administering music therapy sessions to hospitalized patients with neurological disorders.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively with neurologists, physicians from other specialties, nurses and other hospital healthcare workers, patients and their families, and medical student and neurology residents in this research program.
- Demonstrate knowledge in various diagnoses related to neurological disease
- Demonstrate knowledge in various clinical presentations resulting from a neurologic injury or disease (i.e. aphasia, neglect, gait deficits, cognitive impairment and behavioral disturbances).
- Contribute to the development of a targeted intervention for hospital-acquired delirium in patients with neurodegenerative diseases. This intervention is being developed in coordination with other consulting music therapists at other study sites, and the Boston Medical Center MT will join this dynamic team.
- Deliver MT sessions to hospitalized patients. These sessions will be personalized and culturally sensitive in our diverse patient population. It will be critical to adjust approaches based on in-the-moment responses and to adapt music therapy interventions to suit the patient’s unique needs and abilities.
- Plan, evaluate, and document MT sessions based on various theory of music and mechanism-focused frameworks.
- Strategize with the research team in order to identify and troubleshoot barriers to the music therapy delivery and related research protocols.

Job Purpose
Build the prevention workforce capacity through technical support and coordination of prevention trainings through the implementation of the CSAP strategy of Community-Based Processes, which are designed to enhance the ability of the community to more effectively provide prevention services. Conduct all activities within the PRC Training Core and the Media Core, including increasing the awareness of the community regarding substance use and misuse through Media Awareness Activities. Act as the regional contact person for survey data collection and reporting and develop media awareness activities targeting the prevention priorities. Organize and coordinate regional training activities in collaboration with HHSC training contractors based on area needs. Job Description Assist the System Agency-funded training entity by hosting trainings and coordinating host training sites. Work directly with the System Agency-funded training entity to promote and coordinate regional trainings. Distribute updates to System Agency-funded prevention providers within the region about the availability of substance abuse prevention trainings and other related trainings offered by the System Agency-funded training entity and other community-based organizations. Conduct and coordinate substance use prevention presentations across the 30-county region. Ensure at least 30% of the annual number of adults trained are representatives of external community stakeholders. External community stakeholders are considered to be anyone from non-System Agency-funded prevention programs (i.e., PRC, CCP, YPU, YPS, and YPI programs). Maintain a current regional contact list on the PRC Region 7 website of all System Agency-funded Prevention Programs and other resources. Participate in monthly calls with the Public Relations Coordinator, System Agency, and System Agency-funded training entity to provide information and facilitate coordination of curriculum trainings and other professional development trainings offered through the System Agency-funded training entity or other community-based organizations. As part of the CSAP strategy of Community-Based Process, establish and maintain Community Agreements (CAs) with media outlets and community stakeholders that facilitate the implementation of Media Awareness. Completes all PRC documentation and reports in a timely manner for submission to the Program Director, the Executive Director, and the funding agencies, as required. Coordinate and collaborate with the System Agency Prevention Media Campaign and other System Agency-funded grantees (i.e. CCPs and YPs – Universal, Selective, and Indicated) to develop and/or promote a consistent statewide message focused on the State’s four prevention priorities. Maintain social media accounts such as Facebook and Instagram and any other platforms required by the state. Post the Statewide Media Campaign messages on social media accounts and act as one of the media representatives for the agency. Promote prevention messages through media outlets including, but not limited to, radio or television public service announcements (PSAs),media interviews, billboards, bus boards, editorials, and/or social media (if permitted by Grantee’s organization policies) specific to the State’s four prevention priorities. Participate in quarterly calls with System Agency to discuss required responsibilities. Complete all documentation and reports in a timely manner for submission to the Program Director, the Executive Director, and the funding agency, as required. Respond to all communication from both internal and external sources in a timely manner. Participate in agency wide activities as needed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization in furthering its mission. Perform any other duties as assigned by the System Agency, Prevention Resource Director, or Executive Director. Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, Health, Social Work, Education, or a related field; may be a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or must have a minimum of three years in a related field to substitute for educational requirements. Must obtain an Associate Prevention Specialist (APS) certification within the required timeframe. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must have experience in marketing and media development and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, organizations and the public. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and relate well to individuals and funding agencies. Must have professional level writing skills including format, editing, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Must have knowledge of alcohol and drug effects, substance abuse prevention, intervention, assessments, community services, and referral sources. Must be detail oriented and extremely dependable. Must have ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Must have excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize. Must be able effectively communicate prevention messages via television and radio interviews. Journalism background preferred but not required.
