Job Description

KXTX is seeking a strong, self-starter, take-charge news producer knows how to create memorable newscasts and digital executions. If you are a creative producer with solid news judgment who puts content first, this is the place for you. The right candidate thrives on breaking news and the urgency of a fast-paced, dynamic newscast. Responsibilities:

  • Produce, organize and coordinate all elements involved in creating and producing a fast-paced newscast
  • Work closely with the Executive Producer, Assignment Editors, Reporters and Anchors
  • Follow stations news philosophy of Breaking News, Breaking Weather, and Responde (Consumer investigative)
  • Ability to write, edit, produce and gather content under heavy deadline pressure, without compromising accuracy or credibility
  • Be able to react to breaking news, change rundown accordingly, contribute story ideas daily, create graphics, assign & edit news-copy, produce other newscasts & specials as needed as well as digital content and OTT
  • Ability to work long hours if required in a news environment
  • Able to manage assignment desk, to help in the news gathering process
  • Strong writing skills are essential including tease writing,
  • Exceptional news judgment a must as well as the ability to recognize stories with high potential for compelling broadcast and digital stories
  • Organize a strong, compelling, audience driven rundown and execute the vision of the newscast
  • Must always be ready to break in with the latest news or developing stories
  • Requires a leader with the know-how to determine the best news stories for the newscast and the ability to delegate duties
  • Must possess the ability to come up with strong story ideas, utilize all resources available, be a team player and thrive in a highly competitive news environment

Qualifications

  • A Degree in Broadcasting, Journalism or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience producing in a broadcast or cable news environment
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish language proficiency (reading and writing)
  • Ability to direct the news crew in a “producer-driven” environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with people while under pressure
  • A producer who is creative, who can showcase content in new & inventive ways
  • A strong sense of urgency for breaking news
  • Great communicator on copy and with MMJ’s

  • Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24×7 shifts and willingness to work long hours and on weekends and holidays with short notice
  • Must be willing to work in Dallas, TX
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have an active Driver’s License and good driving record
