Skills

Deep Silver Volition has been creating wildly original and successful video games for over 25 years, including the fan-favorite Saints Row series. Our studio has prospered by making fun, innovative games no one else can make, while focusing on work-life balance and fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous growth, and learning.

This is a remote-friendly role. We’re a hybrid work environment, headquartered in Champaign, IL but with employees working permanently remotely across the U.S.

We’re seeking a Senior Producer for an upcoming, unannounced title. As a Senior Producer, you’ll establish scalable process improvements that achieve our goals while sustaining a healthy and empowering team environment. You’ll balance creative pursuits with scheduling needs, pushing for quality and innovation while managing project scope and budget. To succeed in this role, you should be inventive, inspiring, and well organized, with a broad set of hard and soft creative production skills, and enthusiasm for building and leading diverse and inclusive teams.

What you’ll do as a Senior Producer:

  • Lead and nurture a diverse group of creative production professionals across several areas of focus (IP development, art outsourcing, product innovation, branding, and packaging) to be leaders in their craft and grow in their careers.
  • Drive product quality, regularly reviewing the game and providing constructive, thoughtful feedback to the team.
  • Inform and guide the team with a detailed understanding of risks, dependencies, and resource constraints. Identify potential areas of risk, create/execute mitigation plans before issues happen, and keep the team running at a high level of productivity.
  • Facilitate communication across the project team; clearly communicate tasks and responsibilities to staff. Act as primary problem solver, resolving conflicts before they impact production and productivity.
  • Partner with Project Managers to deliver and refine the project roadmap. Participate in Scrum team ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming and retros.
  • Track bugs and triage regularly with your team, assessing, assigning, and prioritizing according to sprint and project needs.
  • Develop and share game industry best practices for product management, team communication, LiveOps, road mapping and business strategies.
  • Define, implement, and evolve team processes that foster collaboration, open feedback, and individual initiative.
  • Be a champion for a healthy team culture that rejects crunch while supporting each other to carry out ambitious goals.
  • Craft clear, detailed, and proactive communication to your immediate group and our studio leadership team.

What we’re looking for:

  • 8+ years’ experience in game development production.
  • Full project life cycle experience as an internal game producer, with at least 3 shipped AAA game titles.
  • 4+ years’ experience as a trusted and inspiring manager and motivator, with high EQ and low ego.
  • Comprehensive understanding of agile methodologies, project management tools, and game development life cycle.
  • Empathetic collaboration style, with an ability to articulate the “why” instead of just the “how” and “what” to ensure developers apply insights for future features.
  • Persuasive and effective communication skills, with proven experience in diplomatically and effectively negotiating efficient solutions across cross-functional teams.
  • A resourceful and adaptive entrepreneurial spirit, with a bias for action.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, willing to embrace experimentation and invite open participation in creative problem-solving.
  • A servant leader mindset, with a passion for enabling creative people to do their best work.

Some of our benefits:

  • Subsidized medical/dental/vision insurance
  • Company-paid life, short-term, & long-term disability insurance
  • Generous paid time off (including parental leave and an annual company shutdown between Christmas & New Year’s)
  • 401k with company contribution
  • Annual learning & development budget + access to LinkedIn Learning
  • Quarterly swag & care packages
  • Paid subscriptions to Headspace, Doordash, Sworkit, and other wellness apps

At Deep Silver Volition we believe in fostering an open, collaborative, and diverse environment, and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. The Dodo is seeking a creative and experienced visual storyteller to join our video team. To thrive in this role, you’ll need to excel at sourcing and crafting an emotionally compelling narrative that hooks viewers immediately and keeps them watching until the very end. You’ll feel comfortable producing a mid- or longer-form social video from start to finish — from sourcing content online, conducting interviews and requesting extra footage, to scripting and structuring a memorable, emotional story. We’re looking for editors who can spot an emotional piece of found footage and use it as a building block to produce a midform video with visual arc, using shot lists and giving direction to the uploader to acquire every piece of footage needed to make the story complete.

WHO WE ARE

The Dodo is the #1 media brand for reach on mobile in the U.S., and the most engaged media brand globally across all content genres. We tell fun, entertaining, emotional stories about animals that make people laugh, cry happy tears, feel ALL the feels, and fall in love with animals.

The Dodo is part of Vox Media, the leading modern media company. We guide our audience from discovery to obsession. We inspire essential conversations about what’s now, what’s next, and what’s possible.

As a community of journalists and storytellers, business professionals, creators and technologists, we believe it is a moral and business imperative to amplify voices: to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and media. This applies to our candidates, our teams, our storytelling, our creative work, and our platforms, products, and partnerships.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Source compelling stories about animals by mining social media, building relationships, putting together shot lists and communicating with uploaders to obtain engaging footage
  • Find the Dodo angle that makes stories sharable through conducting interviews and crafting an original narrative with the emotional kernel in mind
  • Use video editing techniques and rigorous storytelling to create about five midform videos per month that exemplify the Dodo voice and brand
  • Use feedback to iterate on content selection/sourcing and editing techniques, working closely with other editors on the team

WHO YOU ARE

The ideal candidate will have an obsession with digital media, and be nimble and eager to stay two steps ahead of rapidly evolving best practices. A passion for finding clips that are emotional/visual gold and a data-driven urgency for reaching a wide audience on social media are key. Attention to detail, great people skills, persistence in gathering every part of the story, and the ability to manage multiple ambitious projects at once are needed to create videos that are consistently special and highly sharable. We are open to extremely committed recent grads. We are also looking for candidates with the following:

  • Experience creating emotionally compelling narrative video (please provide clips)
  • A drive to put together a complete story start to finish, including working closely with sources and producing parts of the story
  • Basic After Effects a plus
  • Desire to work for a growing company and a love of animals
  • Extremely creative, organized and dedicated to creating best-in-class videos
  • Able to work independently and also exchange feedback with a close-knit team
  • Deep understanding of the Dodo brand and a drive to excel at the kind of storytelling that resonates emotionally with animal lovers

If you think you have what it takes, but don’t meet every single point in our job posting, please apply with a cover letter to let us know how you believe you can bring your unique skills to the Vox Media team or get in touch! We would love to have a chat and see if you could be a great addition to our team. We’ve hired chefs who became editors, DJs who became UX designers, and sommeliers who became writers.
