Job Responsibilities:
- Collection Oversight: Manage and oversee the DMG collection, ensuring proper maintenance, documentation, and preservation of artworks.
- Acquisition Proposals: Write and present proposals for new acquisitions, articulating the significance and value of potential additions to the collection.
- Cultural Property and Grant Applications: Prepare and submit applications related to cultural property and relevant grants, ensuring compliance with all guidelines and regulations.
- Software Management: Utilize Embark Collections Management Software for effective collection management, including cataloging, inventory control, and condition reporting.
- Institutional Navigation: Skillfully navigate the complexities of working within an ‘A’ designated institution, maintaining high standards of professional practice.
- Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with gallery staff and external stakeholders to promote and support the gallery’s mission and objectives.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: A degree in Museum Studies, Art History, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in collections management or a similar role within a gallery or museum setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using collections management software, preferably Embark.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of the principles and practices of collection management and conservation.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling acquisition proposals and grant applications.
- Organizational Abilities: Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with an eye for detail.
