FX ordered the pilot for The Bear in March 2021, with the series officially greenlit in October 2021. Filming takes place primarily in Chicago, Illinois, with the real-life restaurant Mr. Beef on Orleans Street serving as both inspiration and a key filming location for the fictional “Original Beef of Chicagoland.” Later seasons expanded production internationally, including scenes shot in Singapore, Bangkok, and Hong Kong.
