Job Description: ESPN is seeking a skilled and physically fit Parabolic Microphone Operator for the upcoming Appalachian State vs Clemson football game at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, SC. This role is essential for capturing the live sounds of the game, providing an immersive audio experience for viewers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate a wired parabolic microphone dish to capture general sounds on the field during the game.
- Move along the sideline or endline, closely following the action and directing the microphone toward the play.
- Stay attentive to the game to ensure that the microphone is always positioned to capture the best audio from the field.
- Collaborate with the broadcast team to deliver high-quality sound throughout the event.
- Maintain the ability to stand and move for long periods during the game.
- Be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Requirements:
- Must be physically fit and capable of standing and moving for extended periods.
- A general understanding of football is necessary to effectively follow and capture the game’s action.
- Prior experience operating a parabolic microphone is a plus, though not required.
- Comfort working in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions is essential.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to function well in a fast-paced, live broadcast setting.
