Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm that is working with a vibrant K-8 independent school in Oakland, California to find their next Part-Time Library Assistant.
The part-time Library Assistant supports the Librarian in our K-8 library, which houses over 14,000 volumes in a beautiful space. The Library Assistant supports the circulation desk and will assist with online databases, student research projects, and parent/guardian volunteer education as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Check in/out library materials
- Shelve incoming books and materials
- Send overdue notices
- Assist with collection management
- Monitor subscription renewals for magazines and newspapers
- Assist librarians with classes, especially at checkout time
- Help librarians and teachers by pulling books for specific topics or class units
- Assist librarians with creating and maintaining book/subject lists
- Assist with displays and maintaining a welcoming library space
- Monitor library supplies and order as needed
- Help provide parent/guardian volunteer education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Committed to the mission and vision of the school
- Coursework in Library Science (preferred)
- Experience working in a library
