Deep Silver Volition has been creating wildly original and successful video games for over 25 years, including the fan-favorite Saints Row series. Our studio has prospered by making fun, innovative games no one else can make, while focusing on work-life balance and fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous growth, and learning.

This is a remote-friendly role. We’re a hybrid work environment, headquartered in Champaign, IL but with employees working permanently remotely across the U.S.

We’re seeking a Senior Producer for an upcoming, unannounced title. As a Senior Producer, you’ll establish scalable process improvements that achieve our goals while sustaining a healthy and empowering team environment. You’ll balance creative pursuits with scheduling needs, pushing for quality and innovation while managing project scope and budget. To succeed in this role, you should be inventive, inspiring, and well organized, with a broad set of hard and soft creative production skills, and enthusiasm for building and leading diverse and inclusive teams.

What you’ll do as a Senior Producer:

  • Lead and nurture a diverse group of creative production professionals across several areas of focus (IP development, art outsourcing, product innovation, branding, and packaging) to be leaders in their craft and grow in their careers.
  • Drive product quality, regularly reviewing the game and providing constructive, thoughtful feedback to the team.
  • Inform and guide the team with a detailed understanding of risks, dependencies, and resource constraints. Identify potential areas of risk, create/execute mitigation plans before issues happen, and keep the team running at a high level of productivity.
  • Facilitate communication across the project team; clearly communicate tasks and responsibilities to staff. Act as primary problem solver, resolving conflicts before they impact production and productivity.
  • Partner with Project Managers to deliver and refine the project roadmap. Participate in Scrum team ceremonies, including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming and retros.
  • Track bugs and triage regularly with your team, assessing, assigning, and prioritizing according to sprint and project needs.
  • Develop and share game industry best practices for product management, team communication, LiveOps, road mapping and business strategies.
  • Define, implement, and evolve team processes that foster collaboration, open feedback, and individual initiative.
  • Be a champion for a healthy team culture that rejects crunch while supporting each other to carry out ambitious goals.
  • Craft clear, detailed, and proactive communication to your immediate group and our studio leadership team.

What we’re looking for:

  • 8+ years’ experience in game development production.
  • Full project life cycle experience as an internal game producer, with at least 3 shipped AAA game titles.
  • 4+ years’ experience as a trusted and inspiring manager and motivator, with high EQ and low ego.
  • Comprehensive understanding of agile methodologies, project management tools, and game development life cycle.
  • Empathetic collaboration style, with an ability to articulate the “why” instead of just the “how” and “what” to ensure developers apply insights for future features.
  • Persuasive and effective communication skills, with proven experience in diplomatically and effectively negotiating efficient solutions across cross-functional teams.
  • A resourceful and adaptive entrepreneurial spirit, with a bias for action.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, willing to embrace experimentation and invite open participation in creative problem-solving.
  • A servant leader mindset, with a passion for enabling creative people to do their best work.

Some of our benefits:

  • Subsidized medical/dental/vision insurance
  • Company-paid life, short-term, & long-term disability insurance
  • Generous paid time off (including parental leave and an annual company shutdown between Christmas & New Year’s)
  • 401k with company contribution
  • Annual learning & development budget + access to LinkedIn Learning
  • Quarterly swag & care packages
  • Paid subscriptions to Headspace, Doordash, Sworkit, and other wellness apps

At Deep Silver Volition we believe in fostering an open, collaborative, and diverse environment, and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. Here’s a closer look at the various aspects of an entertainment career, what it involves, and the opportunities it presents.

Key Sectors in Entertainment

1. Film and Television: This sector includes jobs ranging from acting, directing, and screenwriting to more technical roles like cinematography, sound engineering, and editing. Professionals in this field work on movies, TV shows, commercials, and documentaries.

2. Music: Careers in music are diverse and can range from performing as a singer or instrumentalist to roles behind the scenes such as music production, songwriting, and managing artists.

3. Theater: Theater professionals may work as actors, directors, set designers, or playwrights. This field emphasizes live performances and often requires a strong background in performing arts.

4. Digital Media: With the rise of internet content consumption, digital media careers have become highly popular. This includes digital content creation, animation, video game design, and roles in emerging platforms like streaming services.

5. Event Management and Promotion: This involves organizing concerts, premieres, sports events, and other entertainment functions. Careers here include event planners, promoters, and logistical support roles.

Educational Paths

Most roles in entertainment require a combination of formal education and hands-on experience. Degrees in film, theater, music, digital arts, or media studies are common among professionals in this field. However, many skills in the entertainment industry are honed through apprenticeships, internships, and on-the-job training.

Skills Required

A successful career in entertainment often demands creativity, perseverance, and a strong work ethic. Technical skills specific to an industry segment—like editing software proficiency for filmmakers or digital audio workstations knowledge for music producers—are also crucial. Soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, and networking, are essential, given the collaborative nature of the industry.

Career Opportunities and Challenges

Entertainment careers can be incredibly rewarding, offering the chance to work on creative projects and sometimes gaining public recognition. However, these careers can also be highly competitive and unpredictable. Job stability can be an issue, as work is often project-based and may involve periods of unemployment between gigs. Moreover, the rise of digital technologies continues to reshape career paths in entertainment, creating new opportunities but also challenges for traditional roles.
