Storyline: Turn Me On takes place in a reality where the inconvenience of human emotion has been eradicated by a government-imposed daily vitamin. When a young couple skip their daily dose, they discover love, joy and sex for the first time, but they quickly come to realize they must also handle the emotional baggage that comes with it…

SEEKING:

  • DOCTOR – Male or Female, 30’s, all ethnicities and abilities. This pleasantly dry, efficient, perfunctory doctor diagnoses Joy with cancer, then provides her with a quick treatment to eradicate it in just three days – all she has to do is stop taking the government prescribed “vitamins” while the treatment does its work – an idea that rattles Joy to her core… (1 VERY GOOD SCENE)
  • OFFICER – Female, 30’s, all ethnicities. This mildly cheerful government official stops in to check on two community members who have not shown up for work in several days. (1 GOOD SCENE)
  • WILLIAM’S NEW PARTNER – Female, mid-late 20’s, any ethnicity. Attractive and pleasant, but without any emotional connection to the world around her, she is unfazed when her partner’s ex bursts into her apartment uninvited. (2 LINES, 2 SCENES)
  • YOUNG MAN – Male, 20s-30s, all ethnicities and abilities. This friendly, mildly pleasant young man greets a neighbor after moving into his freshly scrubbed new apartment. (3 LINES, 1 SCENE)
  • MAN (SUPPORT ANIMAL ENGINEER) – Male, 30’s-40’s, all ethnicities and abilities. This animal handler provides community members with their emotional support animals – which are rotated weekly to prevent “excessive attachment.” (3 LINES, 1 SCENE)
  • CO-WORKER #1 / #2 – Male or Female, late 20’s – mid 30’s, all ethnicities and abilities. These pleasantly mild employees at the community “welcome center,” they quietly share their concerns about a colleague who is working far below her usual levels. They contemplate firing the employee before deciding that perhaps offering her a vacation might be a better step to boost her morale. (2 ROLES – 1 SHORT SCENE EACH)
  • CO-WORKER – Male or female, early 30’s, all ethnicities and abilities. Pleasantly detached, this employee at the community “welcome center” notices a colleague acting out of sorts and pauses to ask if she is content. (1 LINE, 1 SCENE)
  • MAN ON STREET – Male, 20s – 30s, all ethnicities and abilities. This pedestrian’s path is blocked by a fellow commuter – so he pleasantly asks her to step aside. (1 LINE, 1 SCENE)
  • MALE NEIGHBOR – Male, 20s-30s, all ethnicities and abilities. After hearing loud noises and raised voices, he pokes his head out into the apartment hallway to see what the commotion is about. He asks the routine question – if they are “content.” (1 LINE, 1 SCENE)
  • OFFICER AT WELCOME CENTER – Female, late 20’s-30’s, all ethnicities. When this government official discovers two community members trespassing in a restricted area, she grabs the leader and injects her with a sedative… (1 LINE, 1 SCENE)
  • OFFICER AT DOOR – Female, 30’s, all ethnicities. In pursuit of a community member on the run, this officer demands that the offending parties open their apartment door immediately and accept “immediate termination.” However, after breaking down the front door, she finds the apartment empty, and a search ensues… (1 O/C LINE, 5 SHORT SCENES)
