HBO ‘The Sympathizer’ Speaking Roles Casting Call
‘THE SYMPATHIZER’ Television Series – Open Call
We are currently casting fluent Vietnamese speakers for various supporting roles for the HBO / A24 television series The Sympathizer, based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen.
The show is directed by Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, The Handmaiden, The Little Drummer Girl).
The project is slated to shoot Nov 2022 – May 2023 in Los Angeles, CA and Asia.
We are currently seeking talent for the following roles. No prior acting experience necessary. Talent can be based anywhere in the United States. Women 70s/80s: Petite, doting and loving. Is outwardly emotional, and having a hard time with her new life in America.
MUST SPEAK FLUENT VIETNAMESE.
Men 40s/50s: Various supporting soldier roles.

HOW TO SUBMIT:

HOW TO CREATE THE INTERVIEW VIDEO:
-Please keep video 3 minutes or under.
-If you use your phone to record your interview, please make sure to shoot it HORIZONTALLY (not vertically).
-Please make sure to set up the camera so it is facing you (frame from chest up) and speak directly into it to tell your story.
2) PHOTOS
Please submit two non-professional photos – a full body shot and a close up. These can be as simple as phone pictures against a plain wall in a well lit area (by a window with natural light is always best).

- Young Pete is seen in late September, 2001, just two weeks after his father’s death. He and his mother are having a tough day; they attend the wedding of Amy’s sister Maggie to the man Young Pete comes to know as Uncle Steve.
