Casting Call: CFC “Writers in Development” Shorts

Job Description:
We are casting various roles for five short films as part of the CFC Writers in Development program. These short productions are 3-5 minute professionally produced segments designed to showcase a writer’s voice and highlight the potential of their feature script. Each short film will feature a carefully crafted scene meant to engage audiences and reflect the heart of a larger feature in development. The final pieces will be screened at industry events and made available online.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform in a 3-5 minute short film, bringing the character to life based on the script and direction.
• Participate in up to 4 hours of unpaid rehearsal time.
• Cooperate with the production team for hair and makeup consultations, which may last up to 1 hour.
• Follow all directions from the director and production team to ensure a smooth and professional shoot.

Requirements:

• Open to both union (ACTRA) and non-union performers.
• Must be available for a 1-day shoot.
• Willingness to participate in unpaid rehearsals and consultations.
• Professional attitude and ability to take direction well.
• Auditions will be held via Zoom.

Compensation Details:

• This is an unpaid role as per ACTRA/CFC Agreement.
• Participants will receive professional exposure and the opportunity to have their work showcased in an industry event as part of the Norman Jewison Film Program.
• Final productions will also be available online through the CFC’s YouTube channel for broader viewing.

Casting Call: Couples for Short Film Challenge Sponsored by Auto Company

Job Description:
We are seeking real couples, late 20s to early 30s, for a branded short film challenge sponsored by an auto company. This is an exciting opportunity for couples to participate in a creative project while showcasing their natural chemistry on screen. The shoot will take place in Toronto.

Job Responsibilities:

• Participate as a couple in a short film challenge.
• Follow the direction of the production team to bring authenticity and connection to the scenes.
• Work collaboratively with the production crew to create dynamic and engaging content.

Requirements:

• Couples aged late 20s to early 30s.
• Must be non-union.
• Must be local to Toronto or willing to work in Toronto.
• Comfortable performing in front of the camera and showcasing natural chemistry as a couple.

Compensation:

• Pay rate: $500 + $1000 for usage.
