Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and supervise all aspects of the video creation process: pre-production, production, and post-production:
    • Pre-production-work with writers to develop stories/scripts, work with designers to come up with visual themes/styles, create storyboards, pitch script and storyboards to stakeholders, find locations, budgeting, casting, hire/manage crews and vendors, facilitate travel/lodging/meals
    • Production- create engaging motion graphics, direct on-camera talent, cinematography, lighting, record/monitor audio, set dressing, props, wrangle and protect raw camera footage
    • Post-production-develop organized file structure/workflow, picture editing, sound editing/mixing, locate stock footage/images/music/sound effects, color correction, final export delivery, and maintain database of project assets for archival use
  • Work independently from start to finish
  • Collaborate with others to collectively devise creative solutions
  • Implement creative feedback
  • Work within the Deloitte brand
  • Ability to create engaging graphics, motion graphics, 2D/3D animation, and/or visuals effects is a definite plus

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in film or video production, cinematography, editing, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience at a studio or production house.
  • Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages
  • Adobe CC: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition
  • Thorough technical knowledge of video production, filming techniques and equipment: Canon/Sony/Panasonic cameras, composition, lighting, multi-cam setups, audio, media management
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now, or at any time in the near future.
  • Willingness to travel (50%)

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $78,570 to $144,695.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical ability to carry and manipulate at least 75lbs of gear, set up and breakdown broadcast production equipment, usually alone, and on tight deadlines.
  • Capable of safely driving company vehicles in all conditions and on potentially hours-long drives to and from assignments.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned work schedule, including the potential of regular shifts that involve weekends and/or late nights and/or overnights.

  • Strong non-linear editing background, including Edius.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license.
  • Jib & Technical Operations Center experience is a plus.
  • Drone ENG experience with FAA Part 107 certification is a plus.

Hourly Pay Range: $64.77 – $68.47 per hour

The pay range for this position is $53,500 – $96,300 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking applicants for the position of Producer Editor within the Multimedia Division which is part of the Media Department. The Media Department is one of the major departments of Human Rights Watch (HRW),and is primarily responsible for the communications, public relations and media aspects of HRW.  The Department is led by the Global Media Director and consists of Communications, Multimedia, and Audience Engagement Divisions. The Producer Editor is based in the Multimedia Division.

This position reports to the Multimedia Deputy Director and will be based in HRW’s Beirut or Amman offices. The successful candidate may have the option to work remotely.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, research, storyboard, produce and edit video and animated multimedia products that will further HRW’s global advocacy objectives;
  2. Make complex ideas simple through effective writing skills and visually compelling video content, ensuring HRW’s editorial standards and adhere to the highest journalistic practices;
  3. Collaborate with HRW researchers and Divisions to develop multimedia communications plans for their reports and advocacy;
  4. Actively monitor social media for breaking news and trending topic opportunities for MENA region;
  5. Deliver outputs in a timely manner and be consistent with the agreed strategy and priorities of the Media Department;

Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of experience in Communications, Journalism, Multimedia, Visual Arts or similar related is required.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience working in broadcast journalism, video production or a similar field is required.

Related Skills and Knowledge: 

  1. Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic are required; proficiency in other languages is highly desirable.
  2. Demonstrate traits of tact, discretion, sound editorial judgment and the ability to function in a confidential capacity are required.
  3. Excellent story editing skills are required; videography skills are preferable.
  4. A deep understanding and track record working on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and what sorts of content best engages audiences on these platforms is required.
  5. Knowledge of leading graphics, audio, and video tools including Adobe Suite. Premiere Pro and After Effects. Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop desired. Working knowledge of Mac OS.
  6. Ability to work effectively with multiple languages is required.

  • Flexibility regarding assigned work schedule, including the potential of regular shifts that involve weekends and/or late nights and/or overnights.

  • Must join the IBEW 1220 union if not a current member.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION:

  • Five years’ experience as a photographer and editor, preferably in a top 25 market.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a similar field preferred or related experience.
  • Familiarity with the Chicago area, desirable.
  • Strong non-linear editing background, including Edius.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license.
  • Jib & Technical Operations Center experience is a plus.
  • Drone ENG experience with FAA Part 107 certification is a plus.
  • Strong computer and troubleshooting skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Hourly Pay Range: $64.77 – $68.47 per hour

The hiring range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington State, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
