Idris Elba Headed to Fox for New Series ‘Crusaders’

Idris Elba to executive producer Crusaders for FOX.

Idris Elba maybe “too street” for James Bond but, that doesn’t mean he’s not perfect for Hollywood.

According to reports, Idris Elba will executive produce a new series for Fox called Crusaders.

Fox is developing drama series “The Crusaders” with Idris Elba attached to exec produce, Varietyhas learned.

Thomas Ikimi will pen the project, in addition to also serving as an exec producer with the “Luther” star. The script order marks a reunion for the scribe and Elba, who starred in Ikimi’s 2010 flick “Legacy.”

According to reports, the new series follows an extended family of second-generation Africans living in the United States who specialize in locating and returning valuable artifacts from Africa during colonial occupation.

This is great news for Idris Elba fans and the Fox network who has recently picked up several diverse TV shows since the success of Lee Daniels’ Empire.

This will be the second deal with Fox for Idris Elba. Idris Elba is working on another Luther series. The remake, which is based on the hit BBC drama, landed a pilot order last year, but was put on hold as casting directors are still casting lead roles. Idris Elba will executive produce the Luther series as well.

Vivica A. Fox Joins the Cast of ‘Empire’ Season 2

Vivica A. Fox to appear in an upcoming episode of Fox’s hit TV series Empire as Cookie Lyon’s sister.

According to reports, Vivica A. Fox has been cast to play her older sister on the Fox hip-hop drama.

Details surrounding Vivica A. Fox’s arrival to the show have not been released but, the Independence Day 2 actress is set to make her debut in the eighth episode of Empire.

Fox definitely stepped the number of guest stars next season. Empire will feature Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz,Marisa Tomei, Pitbull, Kelly Rowland, Ludacris, Adam Rodriguez and Al Sharpton, among many other actors.

What about Black Lives Matter?

I don’t believe that [Black Lives Matter] is something that you say unless a certain percentage, a large percentage of your population, feels like this might be news to people. I think it’s not something that is ever said unless the situation is at such a critical point that you would need to say something as remedial as that. Our history proves that you might need to say that.

Why do we need to say it? Are we at that critical point?

Because there are people who are going to still come out against it. And it should’ve lost steam because nobody needed that message. Go have a #friedchickenisdelicious and see how much of a storm you can get people into. No, sorry, that’s just a fact that everybody knows. We have to move on as people.

The only reason that this is important is because it’s an important conversation and it does have to be acknowledged that [black lives] do matter. There are too many circumstances that I could list that it would appear like they don’t matter. They certainly don’t matter equally.… As soon as they matter enough, nobody will feel the need to say it.

Katt Williams has been a lot of trouble lately and is no stranger to controversy. On October 29, 2014, Williams and Suge Knight were arrested for the theft of a camera from a female photographer in an incident which occurred in Beverly Hills on September 5. The year before that, on January 8, 2013, he was arrested at his LA home after a warrant was issued for failing to appear in Sacramento County Court on charges of driving in a reckless manner from the November 25 incident in which he allegedly drove a three-wheeled motorbike on a sidewalk and failed to stop for police.

Why Hollywood is Casting More Porn Stars than Actors for Major Roles

Casting directors are casting more porn stars to play leading roles in movies and TV shows.

According to reports, major TV shows and movies are casting porn stars to work on productions.

What was considered a major taboo, now, porn stars are quickly making their way to the film industry,   notes in a new Porn Valley-meets-Hollywood report.

Popular shows such as Game of Thrones, Ray Donovan, Sons of Anarchy and The Canyons, have cast porn stars such as Sibel Kekilli, Tori Black, Jenna Jameson, and James Deen, among many others, to the because “many actors find nude and simulated-sex scenes morally objectionable and/or feel they hinder mainstream aspirations,” according to the Weekly.

A lot of this stems from casting directors who have experience casting porn stars. One such casting director is Howard Levine.

“Working with adult performers is easier, for nudity aspects, because they have no inhibitions about getting naked in front of the camera,” Levine told the Weekly. “Whereas if you call Central Casting and go, ‘I need 20 girls to be on a porn set, semi-naked,’ it’s like a really hard order to fill.” Levine got his big break thanks to his involvement with a clean-and-sober motorbike club, where a fellow club member was reportedly doing extras casting for Anarchy. “Howard was very helpful bringing in the right talent. And often in SOA, sex and violence were interwoven in scenes. We needed players who were comfortable enough with the nudity to be able to react to someone’s head getting blown off,” Anarchy‘s Kurt Sutter told the Weekly. “We found that adult talent was the best choice.”

Apparently, as the article clearly points out, porn stars are generally better to work with in more sexually charged scenes and roles because of their comfort level. The downside to this, is that porn producers and actors who have bigger dreams than taking off their clothes may have a hard time breaking that stereotype or trend. However, many porn stars turned actors are easily making the transition and breaking the mold.

For instance, Kekilli’s recurring role as Shae, in GoT, has launched her career beyond seedy background porn sets. In addition, Sasha Grey, who started as a porn star, has appeared in several feature films and made songs with Dr. Dre and Eminem.

‘Sons of Anarchy’ Creator Reveals A Prequel is Coming SOon

Kurt Sutter reveals his plans for a Sons of Anarchy prequel.

In an interview with Deadline about his new series, FX’s The Bastard Executioner (which premieres on September 15), the Sons of Anarchy creator reveals his plans on a Sons of Anarchy sequel, prequel and the new series.

During the interview Kurt Sutter gave an update on the rumored Sons of Anarchy prequel, which should not be confused with a spinoff about the Mayans. “At some point I do have plans to hopefully do the prequel,” he said, “which I do see as a one-off 10- or 12-episode thing where we begin in Nam and see John Teller and Piney and see how that relationship got created, and bring them back to the States and the obvious external dynamics that were going on with the country and the perception of the war and what an odd kind of perception these vets got when they returned home.”

As for the Mayans series:

[FX executive Eric Schrier and I] were talking about the idea of doing things for other markets, like the Spanish-speaking market. I casually said I’d be open to doing something with the Mayans. It’s the same [biker] subculture, but it’d be interesting to see the influences of that culture and how it impacts the subculture we already understand. I would do a contemporary piece, not a prequel, and place it far enough away from Northern California that it wouldn’t step on the mythology that’s already been told. It doesn’t mean that there couldn’t be some cool, ironic crossovers with familiar characters as the series progressed. I wouldn’t want to set it too close to the world we already know, and step on that… My intent is, over the hiatus I’ll initiate a script for the pilot and take it from there. (Via)

FX seems like they are heavily invested in Kurt Sutter and Sutter’s creative aspirations. But, they rightfully should. Sons of Anarchy has received very favorable reviews over the course of its run, with many singling out Katey Sagal’s performance. On the review aggregator website Metacritic, the first season scored 68/100, the second season scored 86/100, the third season scored 84/100, the fourth season scored 81/100, the fifth and sixth season scored 72/100.

Kathryn Boykin, The Walking Dead fan, sentenced to 10 years for stalking Daniel May and his wife.

A fan of The Walking Dead was sentenced to 10 years of probation after stalking a actor that was featured on The Walking Dead.

25-year-old woman named Kathryn Boykin has been sentenced to 10 years probation, in which she is not allowed to use the Internet, after stalking The Walking Dead actor Daniel May and his wife, Rachel May.

Daniel May played the character of Allen on The Walking Dead, a character who was introduced and killed off way back in season three.

It all started in 2006, after Boykin saw a stage performance of May’s, but the intensity of the stalking ramped up once he became an actor on The Walking Dead.

According to WSBTV, Boykin created several social media accounts and accused May and his wife of several crimes involving conspiracy theories. She also posted statements on various websites. Some of those statements, unfortunately, still remain online, and they show a woman who is mentally troubled and once alleged that May and his wife placed cameras in her bedroom and were poisoning her.

The Mays issued a protective order against Boykin. She was found to be in violation of that order in 2013 when she was found outside of their theater holding a sign that said “Shut Down Synchronicity,” and made several harsh remarks about May’s wife, Rachel. Boykin was later arrested.

Boykin pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this month. She is not allowed to have any contact with Daniel May or his wife and has been ordered to continue her mental health medication and treatment.

50 Cent is getting sued for $200 Million over allegedly stealing the idea for Power.

50 Cent is having a horrible year.

50 Cent is headed back to court to fight another lawsuit, but luckily for him and his lawyers this one should be an open and shut case.

A man named Larry Johnson is accusing 50 Cent of stealing his manuscript and using it as inspiration for the hit Starz series Power, and Larry wants $200 million dollars for his troubles. According to TMZ, Johnson claims he gave his manuscript,  “Tribulation of a Ghetto Kid,” off to an employee at G-Unit books, who then showed it to 50 Cent only for it to eventually become the storyline of Power.

Apparently “Tribulation of a Ghetto Kid” features a character like Ghost from POwer, who has a crazy friend and owns a nightclub. Johnson also says Ghost is his pen name, which is obviously the nickname of the main character from Power. For his services, Johnson is looking to get paid, because I guess it’s better to aim high in these type of cases.

50 Cent Denzel WashingtonPower has built themselves to be one of the most watched shows on premium network TV. But, this may be a bad move for Johnson since 50 Cent allegedly only made $300,000 during the first two seasons of Power.

Hollywood is ramping up production and getting ready for a new Bridget Jones movie.

Patrick Dempsey is going to be in Bridget Jones 3.

After Patrick Dempsey, aka McDreamy, got fired from Grey’s Anatomy, the actor is making his transition back to the big screen. First up: the set of Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third move in the Bridget Jones franchise. Patrick Dempsey is set to join Renée Zellweger, who will reprise her role as Bridget Jones, and Colin Firth, who will return as Mark Darcy.

According to Deadline, the plot will not be based on the book, Mad About The Boy, the third Bridget Jones book, but instead will be inspired by columns written by creator Helen Fielding. Though no details are yet available about Patrick Dempsey’s role, it is possible he could be the new love rival to Colin Firth’s character, since Hugh Grant quit the series last year.

Critics loved the Bridget Jones franchise. The film holds a 81% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an average score of 6.9/10, based on 154 reviews. The site’s critical consensus reads: “Though there was controversy over the choice of casting, Zellweger’s Bridget Jones is a sympathetic, likable, funny character, giving this romantic comedy a lot of charm.”

The first Bridget Jones movie made nearly $282 million worldwide over ten years ago.

Casting directors are looking for police officers to work on an upcoming scene of the new CW Network series Containment, while it is filming in Atlanta, Georgia. Filming will take place on Thursday, September 10th and Friday, September 11th.

‘Containment’ follows an epidemic that breaks out in Atlanta, leaving the large city quarantined and those stuck on the inside fighting for their lives. The drama tells the story of loved ones torn apart, and how the society that grows inside the cordon reveals both the devolution of humanity and the birth of unlikely heroes.
