Fox’s ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Ratings Hit a Series Low Point

0

Ratings for Sleepy Hollow hit a series low point.

Fox’s Sleepy Hollow, the Atlanta filmed TV series, started their third season on it’s new Thursday time slot with only 3.5 million viewers and a 1.0 demo ratings.

That is a sharp decline from its Season 2 opener of 5.6 million and finale of 4.4 million, and easily making Season 3 the series’ lowest point.

Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow

Which is pretty bad news. Ratings only seem to get worse over time which means, Fox will probably pull the plug on Sleepy Hollow after only three seasons. And Atlanta will lose yet another TV series.

‘Sleepy Hollow’ is a modern day version of Washington Irving’s ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’. A police lieutenant searches for the Headless Horseman after he beheads the sheriff.  ‘Sleepy Hollow’ stars Tom Mison, Nichole Beharie and Orlando Jones.

To audition for an extra role on ‘Sleepy Hollow’, check out the casting call details here.

‘Lethal Weapon’ Reboot is Coming Soon to Fox

0

Hollywood cannot get enough of reboots. According to a new report, Lethal Weapon reboot is currently in the works at Fox.

Fox has put forward a new TV pilot for the Lethal Weapon reboot. Based on the feature film starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, the reboot, which was supposed to appear on NBC, comes from Warner Bros. Television, whose film department, Warner Bros. Pictures, produced the original movies.

Like the movies, the TV version will center around a Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs, which was originally played by Mel Gibson) who, following the loss of his family, moves to Los Angeles to start a new life and career. There, he gets partnered with family man and LAPD detective Roger Martaugh (Danny Glover) who, recently suffered a minor heart attack and is trying to avoid as much stress in his life as possible.

The new Lethal Weapon remake will be written by Matt Miller who is known for writing Forever and Chuck.

Unlike most reboots, this reboot will not have the original producers involved in the TV version.

The original Lethal Weapon made $120 million worldwide when it opened in 1987. It would later create a franchise spawning three sequels helping Warner Bros. Pictures earn $835 million worldwide.

Lethal Weapon is just the latest of several other reboots headed into production. For example, there’s a Behind Enemy Lines, Training Day, Rush Hour, LImitless, Heroes,  The Notebook, Friday the 13th, The A-Team, 24, and MacGyver reboots headed into production.

MacGyver Reboot is Now in Development with ‘Furious 7’ Director

0

MacGyver TV reboot is headed to CBS with James Wan the director of Furious 7.

Following the announcement that 20th Century Fox Television was bringing back The A-TEAM, CBS is bringing back MacGyver to TV, according to reports.

For those of you who are too young to know what MacGyver is, MacGyver is an American action-adventure TV series that ran for seven seasons on ABC from 1985 to 1992. The series was filmed in Los Angeles and later moved to Vancouver for the final three seasons. The show centered around secret agent Angus MacGyver, played by Richard Dean Anderson, who works as a troubleshooter for the fictional Phoenix Foundation in Los Angeles and as an agent for a fictional United States government agency, the Department of External Services. Growing up as scientists, MacGyver served as a Bomb Tech Technician during the Vietnam War. His background helped become resourceful and possessed the knowledge of a Google search engine. He solves complex problems by using ordinary household items, along with his Swiss Army knife.

The series wasn’t a major hit, but it had a loyal following and was extremely popular around the world. It would later be turned into several TV movies including MacGyver: Lost Treasure of Atlantis and MacGyver: Trail to DoomsdayEven a spin-off series was created, Young MacGyver but, it was later cancelled after a failed pilot.

Earlier this year, in conjuction with the National Academy of Engineering and several other partners, a crowdsourcing campaign emerged in which contestants would submit ideas for a new MacGyver character to serve as the basis for the pilot of a new series. At the end of the competition in April 2015, five winners are to receive cash prizes and to be “paired with a successful HOllywood TV producer to develop his or her script.” The only strict requirement for submissions is that the new character will be a woman. There are no reports if this contest actually helped produce the upcoming reboot but, on Friday, the original series’ executive producer is teaming up with the director of Furious 7, James Wan, to produce the remake for CBS.

Marvel is Creating a Superhero Comedy Series for ABC

0

ABC has recently ordered a script for a half-hour, single-camera comedy, Marvel’s Damage Control from the Marvel family.

According to THR, Marvel’s new series is called Marvel’s Damage Control and is described as “overworked and underpaid cleanup crew of the Marvel Universe. Their specialty is dealing with the aftermath of the unique fallout from superhero conflicts, like returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, rescheduling a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a battle or even tracking down a missing prize African parrot that’s been turned to stone or goo. Sometimes the most important heroes are the ones behind the scenes.”

The TV series will be based on the comic book series Damage Control, which debuted in 1989 and later spun into four later limited series.

Ben Karlin from Modern Family and The Daily Show developed the project and it will be executive produced by David Miner, who is known for working on Parks and Recreation.

spiderman-is-this-the-first-marvel-movie-spider-man-will-star-in

Marvel is not the only comic book company getting into the comedy business. In August, NBC gave a pilot production commitment to DC Comics’ Powerless, which stems from A to Z creator Ben Queen, let’s hope that show lasts longer than A to Z which didn’t made it through season 1.

Damage Control is the latest TV show produced by Marvel and ABC, which is already the home to Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter. Hopefully, this new comedic version of super-heroes will do better than ABC’s The Muppets comedic remake which has recently seen their ratings drop double digits after their first episode.

Why Kiefer Sutherland Quit the 24 TV Series

0

Kiefer Sutherland has confirmed that he will not be returning to the hit 24 TV series.

Sutherland has starred as a secret counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer in the highly successful thriller from 2001 to 2010, and he made a return in last year’s spin-off TV series 24: Live Another Day.

When Fox announced a reboot with a new leading man earlier this year, the star said he hadn’t “ruled out a cameo.”

However, in a recent interview with BBC, he revealed he is done with the 24 franchise.

“24 is definitely over now for me.”

“It’s one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever been given as an actor,” Sutherland added, “but it’s moving on without me, I want to do other things.”

The actor who became famous for starring in the cult classic The Lost Boys said working on TV has changed her perception on acting.

“I want to do more television,” he said. “My experience of 24 was unbelievable, but the main benefit was that it was nice to do something that people actually watched, and that they enjoyed.

“There are some movies I’ve made people might have enjoyed, but there were nine of them watching. And so 24 was so refreshing – the most significant thing was that it was accessible to a lot of people and to know they enjoyed it was so rewarding for me.

“I don’t think there’s a better medium than television out there at the moment. So think I want to do more of it and look for projects where I can repeat my experience.

“You have to take your time though to find something like it – and that means you have to work less. So I’ll be waiting for something that’s worth it, with the potential for the kind of audience access that 24 had.”

Sutherland also revealed that he always feared that he would fail as an actor and never live up to his father’s acting career, Donald Sutherland (President Snow on Hunger Games).

“I was so desperately afraid that I would let my father down,” he confesses. “But it turned out he was as nervous as I was, and we told each other that the night before we started shooting.

“It turned out great, I think – perhaps it’s cheating, but when I looked into my real father’s eyes during takes I think my heart beats a little faster.

“Some fathers take their sons fishing to connect – I got to make a movie with my dad, even if it was a little late in life.”

Is Hollywood in Trouble? Coffee Shortage Maybe Coming

0

Coffee shortage maybe headed to Hollywood.

Anyone that works in the film industry knows that coffee is your best friend. Working on set, producers expect every actor, model, and crew member to put in those grueling 18 hour days until the production is finished. But, the average human being can only stay away for so long. So, what is a man to do? Drink coffee.

Well, I have bad news for you, let me rephrase that, I have terrible news for you,  if you’re in the filmmaking business. Reports suggest that there is an upcoming coffee shortage.

The current rise in coffee consumption will require an extra 40 million to 50 million bags of coffee to be made, according to Bloomberg. Climate change is another reason for the decrease in global production. And Starbucks lovers, you will be worrying the most. The type of coffee bean that is the biggest threat is Arabica, which is the coffee type of choice for coffee chain franchises. You can blame global warming for that.

The topic will certainly be discussed at the upcoming Global Coffee Forum, which is currently happening in Milan. Let’s hope they can figure this out, Hollywood depends on it.

USA Network Cancels ‘Graceland’ After 3 Seasons

0

USA Network pulls the plug on Graceland after only three seasons.

A month after USA Network cancelled Complications, the network has just cancelled Graceland, deciding not to move forward on a fourth season.

According to reports, Complications and Graceland did not have stellar ratings this summer with both shows averaging less than 1.7 million viewers. This makes USA Network a breeding ground for short lived TV shows. If a series cannot perform well with ratings don’t expect the show to last longer than two to three years.

Recently, USA Network cancelled Burn Notice and White Collar since the ratings did not justify why the show was worth the financial costs.

With Graceland being cancelled, that is another TV show leaving Florida’s struggling film industry. The only other show filming in Florida (outside of Spanish soap operas) is the Netflix series Bloodline.
