TV executive, Indrani Mukerjea, was arrested for murdering her own daughter.
In a real mysterious murder case that is only getting crazier by the minute, cops in India have arrested a major TV executive on charges that she murdered her own daughter.
Except, no one knew that it was her daughter because they have been pretending that they were sisters.
According to reports, it all started earlier this week when police arrested former STAR TV executive Indrani Mukerjea on charges that she paid her driver to murder her sister, Sheena Bora, three years ago.
The driver reportedly confessed after he was arrested on an unrelated matter. It is still unclear if he admitted to actually killing her or just disposing of the body, which may have been found but never identified.
The next day, authorities had to correct the charges, because it turns out Sheena was not Indrani’s sister but she was her secret daughter.
But, it gets weirder. Indrani had a son, Mikhail Bora, who she reportedly told everyone was her brother.
Indrani was married to Mukerjea, the former CEO of News Corp-owned Star India. The couple have one child together, who they actually acknowledge. But Peter also has a son from a previous marriage named Rahul.
According to reports, Rahul started dating Sheena, the step sister he thought was his step-aunt, just a few months before her death. And Rahul was not the only fooled. Peter also thought Sheena was his sister-in-law.
Despite the amount of incest, cops think it all comes down to embezzled money. According to reports, Mukerjeas cofounded a media company called INX Media. But after selling the company in 2009, a percentage of the money went missing. Apparently, it was later “found that large sums of money had been extracted by the former owners and disbursed into the accounts of close relatives.”
A dispute over control of the money placed in Sheena Bora’s accounts may have led to arguments with Indrani Mukerjea and Bora’s death, Indian papers allege.
Whatever the motive, Mikhail – Indrani’s son/brother tells the Indian press he has no doubt that Indrani killed his sister Sheena.
