What is Method Acting? Method Acting Explained

Method Acting is an acting technique, which encourages sincere and emotional performances. It is based on several different theater acting coaches.

What is Method Acting?

Method acting is built on Stanislavski’s acting system. It was developed by Russian actor and director Konstantin Stanislavski. Stanislavski explained the in books An Actor Prepares, Building a Character, and Creating a Role.

Three teachers are also associated with setting the standards of success with Method acting. These include:

  • Lee Strasberg, who focused on the psychological aspects of method acting.
  • Stella Adler, who focused on the sociological aspects
  • Sanford Meisner, who focused on the behavioral aspects.

The approach was first developed and worked together in New York at the Group Theater.

Stanislavski’s system

In the early 20th Century, Konstantin Stanislavski organized his acting training, preparation, and rehearsal techniques into a systematic acting method.

Stanislavski calls “the art of experiencing” a crucial part of Method Acting instead of the “Art of representation.” Stanislavski’s system uses the actor’s conscious thought to activate other less-controllable psychological behavior such as emotional experiences and subconscious behavior. In rehearsal, the actor is looking for psychological triggers to justify the action and movement the actor wants to achieve at any given moment.

Stanislavski later elaborated the “system” with “Method of Physical Action,” which focuses less on preparation and more on improvisation of feelings and emotions.

Yevgeny Vakhtangov, a Russian-Armenian student, was an important influence of Method Acting. Despite dying at the age of 39, Vakhtangov’s object acting exercises were further developed by Uta Hagen as a way for an actor to train and maintain their acting skills. Strasberg says the difference between Stanislavski and Vakhtangov is justifying behavior by understanding the character’s motivations rather than psychological improvisation.

Actors must ask themselves, “What would motivate me to behave in the way the character does?”

The Stanislavskian question “Given the particular circumstances of the play, how would I behave, what would I do, how would I feel, how would I react?”

Method acting reached the United States in the early 1920s with the touring Moscow Art Theater company. Richard Boleslawski, one of Stanislavski’s students, presented a series of classes on the “System,” which were eventually published in the book Acting: The First Six Lessons (1933).

Imagination and Emotions

One of the core concepts and techniques of method acting is affective memory or emotion memory. Affective memory requires actors to recall details from a similar situation and use those feelings for their character. Stanislavski argued actors need to take emotion and personality to the stage and use it when playing their character.

In training and rehearsal, the recollection of emotions provoke a behavioral response and is central to Method-based acting techniques.

There is a misconception about method acting, which conflates method actors with actors who choose to remain in character, even offstage or off-camera. In his book A Dream of Russian Passion, Strasberg wrote that Stanislavski “require[d] his actors to live ‘in character’ offstage,” but that “the results were never fully satisfactory.”

Stanislavski did experiment with his approach with his own acting, though he soon abandoned it. Some method actors still use this technique, including Daniel Day-Lewis, but Strasberg does say this is not method acting.

Evolution of Method Acting

Stella Adler, an actress and acting teacher who taught famous actors, including Marlon Brando and Rober De Niro, also changed her techniques after studying with Stanislavski. Her version of method acting is based on the premise actors should stimulate emotional experience by imagining the scene’s circumstances rather than recalling previous experiences. Adler’s approach to acting stimulates the actor’s imagination instead of remembering earlier experiences.

Psychological effects of method acting.

When an actor recalls previous emotional experiences, especially traumatic experiences, it can disrupt the actor’s mind. The psychological effects include emotional fatigue, which can occur when suppressed or unresolved issues are called to add to a character.

Another type of acting called “Surface Acting” involves changing one’s actions without recalling previous emotional experiences. When done correctly, method acting is also “Deep Acting,” where you change a character’s thoughts, emotions, and actions by recalling previous experiences. Constant negative thoughts and recollection can lead to adverse side effects, including fear, anxiety, and feelings of shame.

The drama series from Colin Kaepernick and Ava DuVernay is now filming in Brooklyn, New York, and will center around the NFL football star Colin Kaepernick. The limited series focuses on Kaepernick as a child and how it informed his activism and professional football career.

The upcoming Netflix limited-series is directed by Ava DuVernay and stars football star Colin Kaepernick.

Cast:

The upcoming Netflix series will star Colin Kaepernick, Mary-Louis Parker (Weeds), and Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation). Louis-Parker and Offerman will play Teresa and Rick Kaepernick, the adoptive parents of Colin Kaepernick, whose life changes in this upcoming coming-of-age drama. The star’s role as Colin’s parents will show them navigating the challenges of raising a Black son in a predominately white community and family.

Actor Jaden Michael will play a young version of Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick will voice narrate his own story over six episodes.

Colin Kaepernick, born November 3, 1987, is an American civil rights activist and football quarterback. He played six seasons for the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL. As a political activist, he knelt during the national anthem at the start of NFL games in protest of racial inequality and police brutality in America.

Kaepernick played college football for the Nevada Wolf Pack. He was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year twice and became the only player in the NCAA Division 1 FBS history to reach 10,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards in a career. In the 2011 NFL Draft, he was selected by the 49ers in the second round. Kaepernick started his career as a backup quarterback to Alex Smith and became the starter in the middle of the 2012 season after Smith suffered a concussion. He remained the quarterback and took the team to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1994. Over the next three seasons, Kaepernick lost and won his starting job.

In the third preseason game in 2016, Kaepernick sat during the U.S. National Anthem before the game, rather than standing, to protest police brutality and systematic oppression. The protest became controversial across the country, with sides agree and disagreeing with him. The actions resulted in a wider protest movement, which intensified in September 2017 after President Donald Trump said NFL owners should “fire” players who protest the national anthem.

After the season, Kaepernick became a free agent and remained unsigned, which numerous sports analysts have attributed to his political beliefs. In November 2017, he filed a grievance against the NFL and its owners, accusing them of colluding to keep him out of the league. He would later withdraw the grievance after reaching a confidential settlement with the NFL. His protests received new attention in 2020 after the killing of George Floyd. But as of December 2020, he remains unsigned by any professional football team.

Other TV studios are reportedly looking into the situation, and deciding ether keep productions “active” in the new year.

It is important to note TV studios have created and implemented safety measures, including mask-wearing on the set and breaking cast and crews into separate teams to mitigate contact; several productions have seen positive COVID-19 cases starting November and December.

Such productions include Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet, which recorded nearly 20 positive COVID-19 cases. Michael B. Jordan To Direct ‘Creed 3’ (Report)

Michael B. Jordan will not only star in the upcoming Creed III but he will also direct the film.

In an interview with MTV, Creed co-star Tessa Thompson revealed Jordan “is directing the next ‘Creed’”. This would be the third movie to spinoff the original Rocky movies and it would be Jordan’s directorial debut.

Thompson says she hopes to use Jordan’s new title as People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive to poke fun at him while they are sharing scenes together during the filming on Creed III.

“It’s going to be ammo, I think, for me when he is engaging with me as a director. I’m just going to tell him to dial down the sexiness,” she told MTV.

“I’m going to pretend it hasn’t happened. They’re going to make another ‘Creed’ very soon, and I don’t need the Sexiest Man Alive to be… I don’t need it. I don’t need any of it. It’s too much for me to shoulder, it’s too much for me to handle,” Thompson added about learning that People had made him the cover star of its annual issue. “I’m so happy for him. And I will give him a lot of crap about it in person. I cannot wait.”

About Creed 3:

Zach Baylin of King Richard, which is now filming and casting in Los Angeles, will write the screenplay for Creed 3. However, no plat details were released. In addition, no production date was set for the film.

Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson both starred in director Ryan Coogler’s 2015 Creed, which focused on Jordan’s Adonis Creed character, who is the son of Rocky’s rival Apollo Creed, as well as the 2018 sequel Creed II. The first movie made $173 million worldwide, while the second movie reached $214 million in ticket sales.

Michael B. Jordan’s next project is the upcoming spy thriller Without Remorse. Meanwhile, Thompson is the star of Sylvie’s Love, which recently debuted on Amazon Prime after premiering on Sundance.

SAG-AFTRA: Productions in Los Angeles Will Go On Hiatus Until Mid-January

SAG-AFTRA announces most TV and film productions will remain on hiatus until mid-January 2021

Following the surge in coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles, and just hours after state officials announced an indefinite stay-at-home order for Southern California, SAG-AFTRA told members on Tuesday night that “most” film and TV productions will stay on hiatus until at least the middle of January.

Hospitals across the Los Angeles area are running at zero capacity. In fact, many ICUs are full, and some hospitals reporting they had to turn gift shops into makeshift rooms and even turn patients away. At least 5 LA hospitals are reporting problems reliving oxygen due to the huge spike in demand caused by the COVID-19 cases.

SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris and National Executive Director David White wrote in a letter to members on Tuesday, “This is deeply concerning to us all, and we have taken immediate action to connect with our epidemiologists and public health experts regarding the surge in cities across the nation,” they wrote.

“Most entertainment productions will remain on hiatus until the second or third week of January, if not later. This means that the number of our member performers working on sets right now is reduced. Our safety protocols ensure appropriate precautions for the holiday hiatus period, including additional time for testing prior to the resumption of production,” the letter continued.

They added SAG-AFTRA is in “close contact with our sister unions and guilds, the industry, our expert epidemiologists, industrial sanitation specialists, public health officials, member leaders, and staff” in order to ensure safe working conditions for members when work resumes.

The letter also urges members to  “remain vigilant and adhere to the safety principles,” including the universal wearing of masks and hygienic practices like washing hands.”

You can read the full letter below:

We are writing to let you know that we are closely monitoring the recent surge in COVID-19 infections along with the reported lack of intensive care unit (ICU) beds throughout the state of California and particularly in Los Angeles County. This is deeply concerning to us all, and we have taken immediate action to connect with our epidemiologists and public health experts regarding the surge in cities across the nation.

Most entertainment productions will remain on hiatus until the second or third week of January, if not later. This means that the number of our member performers working on sets right now is reduced. To ensure the utmost safety, we are in close contact with our sister unions and guilds, the industry, our expert epidemiologists, industrial sanitation specialists, public health officials, member leaders, and staff. We remain focused on ensuring the safest possible work environment and protocols for SAG-AFTRA members.

We will continue to monitor this situation and its impact on production and employment in all contract areas and will take appropriate measures as needed to ensure the continued safety of our members and others.

In the meantime, we urge you all to remain vigilant and adhere to the safety principles to protect yourselves, your families, communities, and colleagues. Always wear your masks, maintain safe physical distancing, wash hands frequently and well, and follow the public health recommendations for preventing the spread of infectious disease. For a refresher on how you can help stop the spread of COVID-19, review the SAG-AFTRA Safety Tips. Thank you for staying safe and taking action to protect yourself and others during this pandemic. Please continue to monitor your emails for updates over the coming days and weeks.

Wishing you and yours a safe and joyful New Year.

L.A. Health Department Urges Film Productions to “Strongly Consider” Shutting Down

Hollywood film production could shut down due to rising COVID-19 cases.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is pushing film productions currently filming in the area to “Strongly Consider” shutting down their operations for the next few weeks following a continued surge in COVID-19 cases.

According to FilmLA, in an email sent to the county’s film industry influencers on December 24, the LADPH wrote the following:

“Although music, TV, and film productions are allowed to operate, we ask you to strongly consider pausing work for a few weeks during this catastrophic surge in COVID cases.”

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is warning industry members traveling for production purposes is not advised. The argument is that traveling increases the risk of contracting COVID-19 by making it more likely people will in less-controlled settings such as vehicles or indoors with people infected with COVID-19.

This news comes after a recent report of nearly 14,000 new cases of COVID-19 and nearly 75 new deaths. On December 23rd, California had officially become the first state to surpass two million Coronavirus COVID-19 cases. Due to the recent surge, hospitals are now overcrowded.

On Monday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom said he expects it to extend stay-at-home orders across the state, with an official announcement coming on Tuesday.

Newsom said that residents of California must “prepare ourselves for what is inevitable now, based upon the travel that we have seen just in the last week and expectation of more of the same through the rest of the holiday season.”

In relevant news, Hollywood is actively abandoning filming in the United States due to high Coronavirus infections. A movie starring Ben Affleck was supposed to start filming in the United States. However, due to the lack of COVID-19 Coronavirus testing material and fast lab results, producers moved the filming location to Canada.

Ben Affleck’s latest movie is just one of several projects leaving the U.S. for Canada, the U.K., and Australia due to the Coronavirus.

Get started on becoming an actor.

You will not be taken seriously in the film industry without these basic materials in your acting portfolio.

Get an agent

There are a ton of aspiring actors. It is tough to get auditions without a talent agent or a manager. Currently, casting directors do not have the time to watch hundreds of auditions hours, so they reach out to talent agents to send their top talent. You can read our guide on how to get a talent agent here. Getting an agent will give you a step up above your competition; it will also help you find more opportunities outside of just Netflix. That said, a top-tier talent agent will give you admission to bigger productions and more prominent roles.

Research your roles

Project Casting shares casting information for some of the biggest productions. Please search our site for your favorite shows, and look at the casting directors who work on it, look at the actors, look at their agents. Use this data to reach out when the time comes for your audition or when casting starts. Also, staying up to date on film and TV news is very helpful. Following Variety, Deadline, Hollywood Reporter, and The Wrap are great places to find daily information regarding cinema, TV, and entertainment.

Get Prepared

If you do get an audition with Disney+, you need to be ready. Please read our article on preparing for an audition as it gives excellent advice on how to beat your competition. Other ways to improve your acting resume include studying method acting or Lee Strasberg’s work, working with other stage performers, practicing stage combat, and studying performing arts. The art of acting is complex and not very straight forward, like many other careers. However, professional actors can attest that working on your craftworks. You don’t have to be an artistic director to get an audition, but you can make it happen.

Know your types

As we described in our guide on becoming an actor, it is essential to know your type and what type of roles you fit. Check out our guide on how to become an actor – finding your type here.

Are you ready to audition for Disney+?

How Hollywood gets to know you can have a considerable impact on your career in the entertainment industry. That is why focusing on doing a great audition with every opportunity is so important. That said, if you don’t feel ready, focus on what you would need to do to boost your skills? Do you need new headshots? Do you need additional acting classes? Do you need a new agent? I highly recommend you build some experience first, start working on independent productions, develop a video reel, and your acting career will begin to flourish.

How to get in contact with Disney+?

Emailing Disney will not help you get an audition. Disney does not work with you to get an audition. Disney work with Production companies that hire casting directors to cast the productions. Disney is a for-profit organization and can not answer every email and letter. Ultimately, do not focus less on doing cold emails or knocking on locked doors. Instead, put your energy into becoming a great actor, build your online presence, and finding great representation.   You can also find the latest Disney+ Casting Calls here.

Who casts Disney+ shows and movies?

Disney does not do casting in house. Disney+ hires a casting director to hire actors for the shows and movies. Here’s a list of casting directors who actively work with Disney+:

Many casting directors work with the company; follow our casting information guides to learn who casts for the latest Disney+ TV shows and movies.  You should now focus on one particular casting director and focus on getting an audition first. Overall:

It is important to note that the entertainment industry is fiercely competitive. But, if you put the work in, you can reach your dreams. How The Film Industry Turned Georgia Blue

How Georgia’s booming film industry turned the state Blue

Over the last decade, Georgia’s film tax credits, amazing actors, well-trained production workers, and a well-orchestrated infrastructure has helped transform the Peach State into ATLWOOD, the Hollywood of the South.

The details show the entertainment industry has grown into a $9.5 billion business in Georgia, with nearly 100 productions filming in the state every year. Now that Joe Biden won the state’s 16 electoral college votes by 12,670 votes, it begs the question – did Georgia’s film industry help turn the state blue?

A state tax credit was signed into law in 2008, giving productions up to a 30 percent tax break by filming in Georgia. This incentive was enough to convince Hollywood producers to film in Georgia. The bill was signed and pushed by Republican Governor Nathan Deal. In 2012, Gov. Nathan Deal signed House Bill 1027. The bill amended several parts of the 2008 Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act. Changes to the previous legislation included increasing marketing for the state through legislated logo placement and establishing a cap on interactive entertainment projects. “Since the adoption of the current tax incentive program, the economic impact of the entertainment industry has increased more than 1,000 percent,’ said Deal. ‘This 30 percent tax credit is essential to the continued growth of the industry, and I will fight to make sure it stays in place for as long as I am governor.”

Ironically, the Republican legislation could have potentially helped Joe Biden get elected and turn Georgia into a swing state.

In an interview with Variety, Fred Hicks, a Democratic consultant said, several businesses have helped change the state political landscape. “You have music, you have film, and you have the tech, combined with a lower cost of living than you’d have in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco; all of these things have made it a destination city for people who think a little differently than other places in the South,” he says.

It’s important to note Atlanta was the fourth fastest-growing metro area since 2010, which coincides with the film tax credits launch. From 2010 to 2019, over 730,000 people moved to Atlanta. The state’s population went from 5.3 million to over 6 million.

Most filmmaking is located in Atlanta. Trillith Studios (previously Pinewood Studios), Turner, Screen Gems, and Tyler Perry Studios is located in metro Atlanta. Also, jobs indirectly connected to the entertainment business may have contributed to Georgia’s growing Democratic Party voting population.

That said, much of the Democratic Party growth in Atlanta is connected to Stacey Abrams, the state’s Democratic nominee for governor in 2018. Her campaign to get people out to vote helped register 800,00 Georgians. She recently appeared in the Verzuz streaming battle between Atlanta rappers Gucci Mane and Jeezy on November 19th. Abrams encourages the 1.8 million viewers to make sure Georgia citizens are registered to vote for the Georgia Senate runoff election on January 5th.

As Georgia’s film industry continues to grow, there will be an increase in job opportunities related to the entertainment industry. Check out the latest jobs in Georgia here.

Did HBO Max Just Revolutionize Hollywood with Streaming?

Warner Bros. is fundamentally changing Hollywood distribution for 2021 by releasing all 17 of its movies for the year in theaters and on HBO Max at the same time.

Warner Bros. will release Wonder Woman 1984 on Christmas Day both in theaters and on HBO Max. Also, Warner Bros.’s entire 2021 movies will play on HBO Max streaming service and theatrically worldwide. However, it is important to note this major caveat — every movie will be available for only one month on HBO Max before it leaves the platform, and it will continue playing in theaters.

This will apply to every movie Warner Bros. planned on releasing in 2021. Some major movies include:

All of the movies will be available on HBO Max in 4K Ultra HD and HDR.

Coronavirus Hollywood Impact – How COVID is Changing Filmmaking

In a blog post, WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar said the plan was necessary due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and its impact on film distribution.
“After considering all available options and the projected state of moviegoing throughout 2021, we came to the conclusion that this was the best way for WarnerMedia’s motion picture business to navigate the next 12 months,” Kilar added. “More importantly, we are planning to bring consumers 17 remarkable movies throughout the year, giving them a choice and the power to decide how they want to enjoy these films. Our content is extremely valuable unless it’s sitting on a shelf not being seen by anyone. We believe this approach serves our fans, supports exhibitors and filmmakers, and enhances the HBO Max experience, creating value for all.”

Kilar asserted that most people will benefit from the plan. “We see an opportunity to do something firmly focused on the fans, which is to provide choice,” Kilar wrote, noting that the studio will release a new film about every three weeks. “Whether that choice is to enjoy a great new movie out at the cinema, to open up HBO Max, or to do both.”

CEO of WarnerMedia Studios Ann Sarnoff said the  “unprecedented times” led to “creative solutions.”

“No one wants films back on the big screen more than we do,” she said in a statement.

“We know new content is the lifeblood of theatrical exhibition, but we have to balance this with the reality that most theaters in the U.S. will likely operate at reduced capacity throughout 2021. With this unique one-year plan, we can support our partners in exhibition with a steady pipeline of world-class films, while also giving moviegoers who may not have access to theaters or aren’t quite ready to go back to the movies the chance to see our amazing 2021 films. We see it as a win-win for film lovers and exhibitors, and we’re extremely grateful to our filmmaking partners for working with us on this innovative response to these circumstances.”

How to Network in Hollywood: Tips for Connecting in the Film Industry

Here is a guide on how to network in Hollywood

Why Networking in Hollywood is important

Some people are not aware of the importance of networking. Why is networking so important? The film industry is a network of people, and the opportunity is knowing and socializing with other people. From the screenwriter to the production assistant to the background actor, people work together to make a production happen.

You can have all of the capabilities in the world. You can work 80 hours a week, and you can be the next celebrity A-lister. But, unless you get an opportunity, all of your hard work is wasted.

Effective networking is planting seeds with many people so that when you need assistance, you do not have to depend on a chance to make it happen.

How to find opportunities?

Most people do not understand how to find opportunities to network and socialize. Some believe these opportunities are random, and most people will get discovered. Other people go to networking events, keep a collection of business cards, make phone calls, and send out pitches. These people are not effective at networking. The biggest celebrities and influencers in Hollywood grow and build opportunities. Effective networking is planting seeds with many people so that when you need assistance, you do not have to depend on a chance to make it happen.

If you’re looking for production jobs, auditions, and casting calls, visit our jobs page here.

Networking Tips

Become more outgoing

It is not possible to network from the comforts of your own home. As tempting as it may be to stream the latest TV series, it is essential to go out there and network with as many people as possible. Do not pass up on the chance to play basketball at your local gym or a party over the weekend; these are all chances to make new friends, build relationships, and connect with others.

Live in a major city.

Major cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Vancouver, have thriving entertainment industries. Attend movie screenings, festivals, and parties. An aspiring filmmaker can make great connections by attending meet-and-greets and striking up a conversation with another working filmmaker. The same applies to actors; attend a free acting workshop or showcase, where you can network and connect with other like-minded individuals.

Maintain Connections

While it is great to give someone your business card, it is not enough for someone to care about you. Get a business card from everyone you meet and follow-up. It is a great way to continue to build a relationship and grow a relationship.

If the person does not have a business card, add their contact information to your phone with their name, the location you guys met, and something personal about them. You will reference these things when you follow-up in the next coming weeks.

Maintaining contact may feel uncomfortable or different, but it is crucial to keep a connection alive.

Social Networking

In these times of COVID-19, it is impossible to connect and socialize with people in the same way. It is why Project Casting offers a fantastic resource for people to connect with like-minded people, influencers, and others in the entertainment industry. While other platforms give people the ability to search for someone, we believe that it’s far better to potentially connect with someone you already do not know. Coronavirus Hollywood Impact – How COVID is Changing Filmmaking

Here’s how the Coronavirus is impacting Hollywood.

In Los Angeles County, there are currently 409,000 cases with 7,700 cases. In fact, in the last two weeks, there are over 50,000 cases of Coronavirus infections.

That said, Hollywood is masking-up, taking precautions, and moving forward with filming. Since June, state and county officials said Action allowing film and tv productions to resume filming as they follow new health and safety protocols.

On top of social distancing, face coverings, and testing for the coronavirus, only essential cast and crew are allowed on set with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s new rules. As a result, productions must disinfect props, actors must wash hands, and crew must be as silent as possible to avoid spreading the virus through talking. Also, there will be no craft service buffets, fight scenes, and “intimate scenes” discouraged.

With this new pandemic, new technology is emerging in the film industry. In a report by the Los Angeles Times, Hollywood productions are using color-coded IDs with embedded chips that are scanned by COVID safety officers. The chip collects and tracks data on the crew’s movement to effectively do contact tracing for someone who tested positive for the disease.

The new technology is called Safe Set and was recently launched by Greg Guzzetta, a former production manager who spent the last 10 years making public safety technology for live music events.

“It allowed me to put the live event business over on a shelf and not be depressed by that,” he said. “I’ve taken bits and pieces of different tech that I used in the other spaces and wrote some new software with my development team, and we came up with Safe Set.”

Also, Los Angeles cinematographer Aaron Grasso and talent manager Josh Shadid created a new company after the pandemic. The two created a robotic camera currently used by Netflix, Warner Bros., and other studios to help film stars remotely for marketing campaigns for such projects as the upcoming “Dune” movie.

“During the pandemic shutdown, [we] were looking to figure out ways to get back to work safely,” said Grasso, cofounder of Solo Cinebot Inc. “And so we started exploring possibilities for remote options — cameras, light, and sound that we could operate remotely.”

Ultimately, virtual productions are the new business strategy during the Coronavirus. During the COVID-19 pandemic shut down, Stargate Studios created virtual sets for actors to step into once the industry was up and running again, reducing the number of people needed on set.

As the second pandemic wave begins to rise in related news, we will probably see a lot more production shutdowns that we previously experienced this March. As a result, some studios will be shutting things down in the coming weeks. A few shows, including Netflix’s The Witcher and Apple TV+ Myrhic Quest, have already stopped production amid new Coronavirus cases. Now, according to DeadlineCW’s The Flash is already facing a similar scenario after an unidentified production member tested positive for COVID-19, which caused all production to pause “out of an abundance of caution.”

Netflix’s ‘Ozark’ is Now Filming in Atlanta

Netflix’s Ozark will start filming in Atlanta this December.

According to reports, the series will officially return for its final season in Atlanta, Georgia this December.

“Blue Cat Productions, LLC will be filming on Thursday, December 10 (from 8:00pm to 2:00am) at Brickworks Atlanta, 1000 Marietta St. NW, Atlanta, HA 30318. Crew will prep the area on Dec. 8 and Dec. 9  and will strike all materials on December 11,” the notice to neighbors states.

Ozark has filmed in Georgia since the first season. Production on the show’s third season took place throughout Georgia during Summer 2019.

Bateman previously explained the COVID-19 risks with production and how fickle the situation can be, especially considering how the Coronavirus is spreading across the country. Due to the precautions, Bateman says he will not be directing any episodes of the final season since it would require him to interact with too many members of the crew. Also, if he or any of the actors were to get sick, they would have to shut down production.

Season 4 will feature two separate seven-episode runs, for a total of 14, and “mark the final chapter in the Byrde family’s journey from suburban Chicago life to their criminal enterprise in the Ozarks,” according to Netflix.

“We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving ‘Ozark’ more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right,” ‘Ozark’ Chris Mundy said in a statement. “It’s been such a great adventure for all of us — both on screen and off — so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”

“A super sized season means super sized problems for the Byrdes,” Jason Bateman said. “I’m excited to end with a bang(s).”

In related news, there are 34 TV shows and movies now filming in Georgia this December 2020. Some of the biggest productions including Spider-Man 3.

Barack Obama Gives Drake the Okay to Play Him in a Movie

Barack Obama gives Drake the stamp of approval to play him in a movie.

Drake has not acted very much in recent years. After leaving the Degrassi: The Next Generation series nearly a decade ago and becoming one of the most successful musicians in recent history. Now, Variety reports say Drake has received the blessing from Barack Obama to play him whenever biopic comes out.

Barack Obama gave this casting suggestion in an interview this week with Complex’s Speedy Morman. The interview also discussed other issues, including the 2020 election, generational differences in the Democratic Party, and several other topics stemming from Obama’s new memoir A Promised Land.

Obama said, “I will say this, Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants. I mean, that is a talented, talented brother. So if the time comes and he’s ready…” He continued on to say something completely unexpected, giving Drake the okay to pay him in a movie: “Drake has, more importantly, I think, my household’s stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it.”

That said, Obama has been played on TV and in movies several times in the past. Parker Sawyers played Obama in Southside with You, Devon Terrell played Obama in Barry and Kingsley Ben-Adir in HBO’s The Comey Rule.

That said, it has been a long time since Drake talked about his own aspirations to return to acting. That said, getting the stamp of approval from Barack Obama could change everything.

All affected employees close the positive COVID-19 case are self-isolating, and there is no timeline as to how long it will take for the show to resume production. Previous shows have wide ranges, including one day to two-week shutdowns.

Tyler Perry is now filming two TV series in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to Georgia.org, Tyler Perry is working on Nickelodeon’s Young Dylan Season 2. and Tyler Perry’s All the Queen’s Men.

Written by Tyler Perry, the TV series centers around the story of a family whose world is changed when their nephew, an aspiring rapper (Dylan), moves in. This is the show’s second season and comes from the Tyler Perry partnership with Viacom to produce new original series for BET Networks and Viacom networks.

Details for Tyler Perry’s All The Queen’s Men have not released other than the show will premiere on BET+.

It’s important to note Tyler Perry is not letting the COVID-19 pandemic stop him from creating content. As we previously reported, last May, Tyler Perry reopened Tyler Perry Studios to film The Oval. By July, Tyler Perry Studios began filming for The Oval and Sistas. Since then, the studio has led the way for filming in the pandemic. When describing what it was like to film during the pandemic, Tyler Perry explained, “We had a couple of concerns,” he explained. “We had four positives. Here’s how it went: We had 160 people check in the first day, go to their rooms, get tested and wait for their results. Nobody was able to leave their rooms. We had two positives in that. So we had them escorted out and got the help that they needed.”

“Then 200 people checked in [soon after] and we had two positive inside of the 200. We had them escorted out and got them the help that they needed. So we had four before anybody left their rooms, before anybody started work. Those rooms were kept closed and off limits to anybody until after we finished shooting.”
