KOVR/KMAX Sacramento is looking for a top-notch, collaborative, and inquisitive Special Projects Photographer/Producer to join our investigative team! The successful candidate must have proven skills and the ability to dig and uncover the truth.  We are looking for a dynamic storyteller who embraces the critical role of investigative journalism in supporting our communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

•    Develop compelling investigative projects
•    Research and develop compelling investigative projects
•    Collaborate with reporters and other team members to bring a vision to all investigative pieces
•    Show creativity in production, including compelling video elements and the use of graphics
•    Collaborate with members of the team to make suggestions to elevate all content
•    Exhibit a strong understanding of journalistic principles and ethics
•    Demonstrate skill in analyzing data, backgrounding individuals, businesses, and topics
•    Display experience in shooting video and crafting other visuals
•    Must be an expert in utilizing Adobe Premiere and Grass Valley editing systems
•    Communicate with team members and others effectively
•    Maintain a strong portfolio of sources

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of major market journalism experience or experience doing investigative work and projects
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, nights, and weekends when necessary
Occasional overnight travel required

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Skilled photojournalist and creative coach to lead our team of photographers at Minnesota’s Most Watched station.
• Be the expert on visually appealing and meaningful shooting as well as dynamic audio and lighting.
• Work with managers, assignment desk, producers and reporters to successfully enterprise stories as well as cover weather, breaking and general news across our TV and digital platforms.
• Set the bar for outstanding visual, expressive storytelling and dynamic live shots — train and mentor the photographers and MMJ’s who fall short on goals.
• Offer nonstop feedback to photographers and editors; including one-on-one story critiques.
• Assist in logistics and planning for remote events and stations events.
• Uphold journalistic, ethical and professional standards consistent with company policies & values.
• Manage scheduling and time sheets for the photographers/editors.
• Collaborate with the News Operations Manager on equipment purchases, fleet management and repairs.
• Run and maintain live equipment (microwave, satellite trucks and Dejero/Live-U backpacks).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Operating proficiency of Sony XDCAM, Panasonic P-2 or similar ENG Systems as well as drones, non-linear editing on FCP X, Avid or a similar system,
• Must be physically able to carry, shoulder and shoot with a broadcast ENG camera (25 lbs. or more),as well as carry support equipment (i.e., tripod, lights, etc.).Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and thrive under pressure, attacking deadlines and decisions calmly & swiftly.

WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV, the CBS News and Stations owned and operated television station in Boston, is seeking an expert and dedicated Photojournalist/Editor to join our amazing team.

Candidates should have a strong dedication to creative and visual storytelling with excellent videography and editing skills. They should also possess the ability to produce daily content from the field independently or with partners, a desire to learn and evolve as new technologies are deployed and assist our MSJs during live shots and on assignments, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Photojournalists applying for this position must have non-linear editing experience, knowledge of file-based video transfer, and experience as a News Photographer/Editor. Must have the knowledge and ability to operate live bonded cellular technology (Dejero and LiveU)
• ENG and SNG live truck experience is a plus.
• Calls for excellent communication and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have minimum of 5 years’ experience in a medium to large television market

REQUIREMENTS:

• Candidates will be responsible for maintaining assigned equipment, including news vehicles, cameras, lights, laptop editors, and associated gear, initiating repairs when necessary.
• Must physically be able to carry, shoulder, and shoot with a broadcast ENG camera (25-35lbs),as well as carry support equipment (tripod, lights, microphones, etc.)
• Must be able to work assigned schedules which may include early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have a valid Massachusetts drivers license and a clean driving record

PREFERRED QUALITIES:

• Proven news judgment and writing skills
• In-house technical experience is a big plus (i.e., ENG Receive, Floor Directing)
• Strong breaking news skills
• Excellent organizational, and communication skills
• FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone certification is a plus !

We’re seeking talented individuals for an upcoming short film! A young mixed-race or racially ambiguous actress is needed for the role of Young Jailane, along with photographers to capture key moments. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a professional film environment with minimal time commitment.
