Paid Director of Cinematographer for Feature Documentary

Job Description

A New York-based Director of Photography / Cinematographer is needed for an independent feature documentary. The project will primarily feature sit-down interviews alongside supporting B-roll filmed around New York. The production is looking for a cinematographer who can create cinematic, natural-looking documentary imagery rather than a traditional corporate interview style. The documentary explores a deeply human story involving themes of mental health, identity, and isolation.

Job Responsibilities

• Film cinematic sit-down documentary interviews.
• Capture accompanying B-roll throughout New York.
• Manage camera, lighting, grip, and interview audio requirements.
• Collaborate with the production team on the documentary’s visual approach.
• Maintain professional image and sound quality throughout filming.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work locally in New York.
• Strong documentary and interview cinematography experience.
• Must provide or source two Blackmagic 6K cameras.
• Access to appropriate lenses.
• Access to a basic lighting and grip package.
• Ability to provide professional interview audio with dual sound recording.
