Diverse Voices is a performing art in education charity providing arts-based education, furthering young people’s life skills and confidence, and addressing relevant, topical issues prioritized within schools and educational settings. 

We work with a pool of freelance facilitators and creatives annually, providing paid roles and opportunities in our education programs. We are looking to recruit a wide variety of new facilitators to work with.

We are actively seeking people with a passion for the arts with equal amounts of creativity, patience, experience & energy. Diverse Voices encourages applications from currently under-represented people, particularly in terms of ethnic and disability diversity.

The following is required:

– Enhanced DBS certificate dated within the last 2-3 years (as of February 2023) – or if not, willingness to undergo DBS check
– Desire to work in locations in London and Greater London
– Reliability and punctuality
– Experience in working with young people
– Experience in performing arts
– Open and willing to learn new skills and have fun

We are looking for a varied group of actors, facilitators, dancers, musicians, and creatives from a wide variety of backgrounds – and would especially like to encourage facilitators who identify as male or non-binary to apply.

Our roles vary from a few hours for a workshop/performance (plus training/rehearsal) to more permanent 7-week commitments. They are all paid functions supported by our core team – including workshops & safeguarding training, and more.

We are looking for creatives with professionalism, empathy, energy, and passion for successfully supporting our children and young people.

London Casting Call for Theatre Actors – Black Beth R&D

Job Description
A new play titled Black Beth by Cheryl May Ndione is casting actors for a week-long Research & Development (R&D) process at the Arcola Theatre in London. This bold, meta-theatrical drama explores themes of race, authorship, and power within a rehearsal room staging a play about slavery. The project offers a collaborative environment for actors interested in developing new work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in a week-long R&D workshop process
  • Perform in script-in-hand readings and development sessions
  • Collaborate with the creative team to shape the production
  • Contribute to a work-in-progress performance

Roles Available

  • Beth: Black female, playing age early 20s (also plays Producer of Rum and Red)
  • Wunmi: Black female, playing age late 20s (Actor in Rum and Red)
  • Isabel: White female, playing age early 20s (Lead Actor and Director of Rum and Red)
  • Dalton: Black male, playing age mid-20s (Actor in Rum and Red)
  • Thomas: White male, playing age mid-20s (Actor and Set Designer of Rum and Red)

Requirements

  • Actors passionate about new writing and collaborative theatre-making
  • Strong performance skills and adaptability
  • Interest in socially driven and thought-provoking material
  • Availability for all scheduled R&D dates

Compensation

  • Low-funded R&D (profit share model)
