Diverse Voices is a performing art in education charity providing arts-based education, furthering young people’s life skills and confidence, and addressing relevant, topical issues prioritized within schools and educational settings. 

We work with a pool of freelance facilitators and creatives annually, providing paid roles and opportunities in our education programs. We are looking to recruit a wide variety of new facilitators to work with.

We are actively seeking people with a passion for the arts with equal amounts of creativity, patience, experience & energy. Diverse Voices encourages applications from currently under-represented people, particularly in terms of ethnic and disability diversity.

The following is required:

– Enhanced DBS certificate dated within the last 2-3 years (as of February 2023) – or if not, willingness to undergo DBS check
– Desire to work in locations in London and Greater London
– Reliability and punctuality
– Experience in working with young people
– Experience in performing arts
– Open and willing to learn new skills and have fun

We are looking for a varied group of actors, facilitators, dancers, musicians, and creatives from a wide variety of backgrounds – and would especially like to encourage facilitators who identify as male or non-binary to apply.

Our roles vary from a few hours for a workshop/performance (plus training/rehearsal) to more permanent 7-week commitments. They are all paid functions supported by our core team – including workshops & safeguarding training, and more.

We are looking for creatives with professionalism, empathy, energy, and passion for successfully supporting our children and young people.

Theatre Actors for Touring Production – Silent Approach

Job Description
A new theatrical opportunity is available for professional stage performers interested in touring a compelling one-act play across the UK. “Silent Approach,” inspired by the book Police to Paranoia by Rebecca J House, explores the psychological aftermath of trauma experienced by a female officer in the Lancashire Constabulary. Written by Caroline Lamb and directed by Helen Parry, the production is scheduled to tour key cities including Lancashire, Salford, and London.

This powerful piece calls for emotionally resonant performances and a strong connection to real-world experiences in law enforcement, mental health, and social justice. The play is supported by the Lancashire County Council and tackles complex themes through intimate storytelling.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform in a one-act theatrical production addressing trauma and mental health

  • Portray characters with emotional authenticity and nuance

  • Rehearse, tour, and perform in multiple UK cities including Salford, Lancaster, Scarisbrick, Lytham St Annes, Camden, and Blackburn

  • Engage with post-show discussions and outreach events, as needed

  • Collaborate with the director and production team for character development

Requirements

  • Stage acting experience preferred, especially in dramatic or socially driven work

  • Strong memorization and line delivery under touring conditions

  • Availability for all listed tour dates in September and October

  • Comfort in addressing sensitive themes around trauma and mental health

  • Must be reliable, professional, and team-oriented

Compensation
