Creative Director

We are looking for a Creative Director with a passion for helping people and who want to help us make a difference in the lives of blended families (stepfamilies) and marriages.

Our Ministry’s Mission: BKF exists to break the cycle of divorce, equip marriages, and unite blended families with the truth of God’s word. We educate families with biblical resources and practical skills, empowering them to flourish in their kingdom identity and live life abundantly.

Blended Kingdom Families is a 501 c3 non-profit organization. We are looking to build a strong, creative and dynamic team with the help of this position. The Creative Director at BKF will oversee and manage the creative team, including art direction, creative copywriting, video production & editing, graphic design, digital project, social media presence and more. The Creative Director will lead the way in how Blended Kingdom Families brand is utilized and implemented across the organization. Ideation and creative thinking will be necessary to lead the team in brainstorming, implementation and execution of ideas, as well as keen attention to detail and project organization and execution. The Creative Director needs to be a good storyteller in order to keep a consistent through line of the Blended Kingdom Families brand going through all design, video digital and printed media.

 

Location: Colleyville, TX – ON SITE (not a remote position)

Work Environment:

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Will report directly to COO of ministry and collaborate closely with the Creative Writing Director
  • Weekly check in meetings with the entire team and individual team members
  • Supervise the department’s daily workflow, assign project workload, and monitor deadlines and budgets
  • Oversee the projects from beginning to completion for the creative team- this includes all social media, branding and themes for events and calendars, creative projects and fundraising events
  • Determine which projects to accomplish in house and which need to be outsourced based on team workload, capacity and skills
  • Identify and manage relationships with vendors (e.g., animators, photographers, illustrators)
  • Maintain and manage creative budgets as it pertains to various projects
  • Conceiving and implementing concepts, guidelines and strategies in various creative projects and overseeing them to completion
  • Provide clear, insightful and objective critiques of Creative work in connection to the strategic vision
  • Review work, troubleshoot and provide feedback to creative team members, contractors and outside agencies

 

 

Creative Responsibilities:

  • Have the ability to create eye-catching graphics and engaging designs when needed or to assist the digital content creator
  • Handle graphic projects from start to finish
  • Oversee graphics to be used on all social media pages, digital downloads, all event handouts- paper content, brochures etc. and website
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video) while being spontaneous in certain situations- ‘capturing the moment’
  • Understanding of photography and filming with light effects on people and faces
  • A great passion for social media including Instagram, FaceBook, YouTube, TikTok etc.
  • Underground understanding of social media algorithms, e.g, what makes a post attract the target segments

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in graphic design, social media management and/or marketing
  • Minimum 5 years design experience with 2-4 years’ experience managing/leading creative teams and 1 year of marketing or advertising experience.
  • Must submit online portfolio for review
  • Experience with all social media platforms- Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok etc.
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web
  • Highly Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (adobe photoshop, illustrator, sketch, InDesign, and other graphic design software)

Position Summary

In the Art Director role, you and your writing partner will create a wide range of ideas and creative concepts that stand out and earn attention. Primary Responsibilities

  • ART DIRECTION: Experienced visual expert who elevates the work and level of visual quality that meets high standards.
  • INNOVATIVE & TRADITIONAL DESIGN: Work in a wide range of mediums ranging from traditional video and photo content, real world design (experiential) and social media content.
  • BRAND DESIGN: Steward the design identity of iconic brands, ensuring they have a consistent look and feel online. Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in advertising, with a focus on ideation and concepting for brand acts, stunts, and storytelling. You have experience as an Art Director with a proven track record of leading other Designers and stewarding brands.
  • A diverse portfolio showcasing examples of work you have created yourself, as well as work created by a team you managed. Your portfolio includes examples of strategic/conceptual thinking, visual design, and storytelling, and innovative social work that elevates the medium.
  • College or University diploma in Art, Visual Communication Design, Advertising and/or Art Direction
  • The ability to execute concepts at a level that is among the top tier in the industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Exposure to Art Direction, Photo Shoots, and UI/UX are an advantage.

Job Description

Mikros is looking for an experienced Art Director to work on an exciting new animated feature film. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of creative leadership, great interpersonal skills and animation production experience at a senior level, who is excited by the prospect of setting the visual direction for this ambitious movie in close collaboration with the director and production designer.

  • Driving and managing the visual development of all of the movie’s design requirements.
  • Effectively communicating the visual direction of the movie, by providing and sourcing relevant imagery and documentation.
  • Collaborating with our director and carefully interpreting his feedback to ensure we meet our creative brief.
  • Supervising a talented design department in generating art for our characters, sets and props as well as establishing mood, color language and lighting for our movie.
  • Providing clear, concise and detailed direction to your design team for their assignments.
  • Collaborating closely with other department supervisors and reviewing designs, models, surfacing, the color script, set dressing and light keys to ensure we meet the high production standards we expect to deliver to our clients.

  • Have a clear understanding of the steps and processes involved in creating and taking 2D designs all the way from concept through to final image in a 3D pipeline.
  • Knowledge of drawing software including Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge in Maya is a plus.

POSITION SUMMARY

This Creative team is made up of two dedicated partners whose out-of-the-box ideas and delivery are on the same wavelength and in constant sync. This pair will create a wide range of ideas and creative concepts that stand out and earn attention. The work will range from brand acts that create conversations, to advertising across a range of mediums, to compelling visual stories that stand out on social platforms. This duo will be a key part of a creative process that makes ideas, acts, and experiences that get shared and talked about on social and in the press. Together, you and the team are building a design culture that moves food marketing forward.

 

As the Copywriter, you will understand how to craft a headline-inspiring brand act, how to write attention-grabbing copy, and how to tell stories across a diverse range of mediums enabling you to tackle a variety of interesting and exciting challenges. Your experience in a variety of mediums, from traditional to social means that you have a wide lens for solving problems, breaking down norms, and delivering ideas that are interesting and disruptive. You know how to translate insights into copy that make people pay attention.

 

As the Art Director, you’ll use your strong concepting and ideation skills to produce great creative ideas and use your strength as a visual storyteller to bring them to life. You’ll translate your ideas (and the team’s concepts) into visuals for social media, digital advertising, and traditional content. You’ll partner with producers to make sure that a wide variety of content is captured and edited in a way that fits the iconic brands you represent. You’ll need a strong understanding of the best-practice design principles for Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, but you’ll also need to be comfortable breaking them with innovation that captures attention in new ways. Your experience in traditional mediums will help you raise the quality of work for social but also work at a pace that fits the dynamic needs of the digital environment. You’ll use your unique skillset and trained eye to inspire the design team around you.
