Job Description

The role of Art Director (AD) at The Mill is one of creative innovation and ingenuity, leadership, and team building, responsible for working cohesively with a team of Designers, Illustrators and Animators to create the unique vision developed for our clients. A Mill AD has an extensive knowledge of the Design/VFX & commercial advertising industry and can relate it to our clients’ specific projects in the most unique artistic way.

An AD at The Mill will work closely with the CD for Design and the Design team on projects that require origination and creative development and thinking. The AD must be highly visually creative and in addition to an acute sense for visual aesthetics, have an in-depth knowledge of the technology used in aspects of Design. The Outsource Manager will establish and maintain relationships with outside vendors tasked with creating 3D art assets. This role will also be in charge of improving operational procedures, manage art pipelines, scope and provide schedules, work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and consistent communication between all key stakeholders. Horizon Worlds 3D Art Outsource Manager Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the Art team to define the art components, scope, and goals for key features within our various projects.
  • Initiate and manage vendor contracts/purchase orders.
  • Establish and create processes to help the art team/OS vendor run efficiently and smoothly.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate production red flags while executing against ambitious targets.
  • Consistently communicate with cross functional partners in providing schedules and timelines into the overall product development programs.
  • Create and distribute OS packages that capture the functional requirements and the visual direction of the assets.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Interests for empowering creative teams to produce results.
  • Proven experience prioritizing and juggling multiple initiatives and meeting deadlines.
  • Leadership, communication, and diplomatic skills.
  • Experience with production toolsets (e.g. ShotGrid, Asana, Jira, Trello).
  • Experience driving production process and shipping large, multi-medium projects with 3D pipelines.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in game development, film, or interactive media focusing on managing outsourcing of environment assets.
  • Experience working cooperatively with artists, engineers, product managers and designers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Interior Design, Architecture.
  • Experience in Environment Art or Art Direction.
