Position Description
The Trek U video pre-production specialist works with brand managers, training specialists, and visual designers to pre-visualize videos for our retail and consumer channels. Whether it’s a service training video, product launch webinar, or Instagram post; the pre-production specialist sets Trek’s video team on the right path to create engaging, informative stories.
You do great work fast and can handle multiple projects at once. You roll with the punches on last minute changes and under tight deadlines. You’ve got a knack for connecting with an audience while maintaining brand voice and standards. While you work best in the pre-production stage, you’re not afraid to jump in and help on set when needed.
In order to be considered for this role, please include a portfolio of scriptwriting and storyboarding examples.
Scriptwriting and editing 40%
Based on original scripts and treatments provided by project stakeholders, write shotlists and edit voiceover scripts to translate stakeholder’s vision to an executable shoot plan
Storyboarding 30%
Draw storyboards for each script, clearly pre-visualizing a completed story
Script Breakdowns 20%
Break down scripts to identify needed cast, locations, props, and crew; communicating needs to project stakeholders and producer for sourcing
Production Assistant 10%
Provide assistance in studio or on location shoots as needed
Responsibilities
- Translate written and verbal treatments and visual design concepts into clear, compelling visual sequences
- Edit voiceover scripts provided by project stakeholders, conveying key information in a friendly, conversational tone appropriate for spoken word
- Create and pitch alternate story solutions to project stakeholders
- Draw storyboards, clearly depicting action, camera placement, and framing in each part of a script’s sequences
- Write shotlists that can be easily translated to shooting schedules
- Present storyboards to project stakeholders and members of the video production crew
- Write comprehensive script breakdowns identifying all physical needs to be sourced
- Act as a production assistant in the studio or on location as needed.
Qualifications
- 3+ year of video production experience, especially in pre-production
- Strong storytelling skills, with experience producing creative briefs
- Strong and communicative composition and design skills
- Ability to present ideas clearly and professionally
- Ability to creatively foresee, and provide solutions for, problems that may arise in production
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and After Effects a plus
- Knowledge of cycling culture/industry a plus

Primary teaching duties in the department will focus on studio and field lighting for broadcast, studio and field set design and general broadcast studio lab instruction. Develops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats, online courses, staff development, conduct open labs (if/when necessary), student advising, student outcome assessment and quality review assessment and implementation, student organization involvement, recruitment and retention of students, and other duties as assigned**. Required to keep current with the latest trends and technologies in discipline.
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.

- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program/department evaluation. **

- Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas:
- Television OR
- Radio/Television/Film with a concentration in Television, Broadcasting, Broadcast Communication, Electronic Media, Digital Media or Video Production
Occupational Requirements:
- Candidate must have a minimum of four years full-time or part-time equivalent (8000 hours) of work experience in one or more of the general areas of the industry including: Television production, Video or Broadcast production/Direction, Video Editing, Studio/Field Video Production, Set Design, Broadcast and Video Graphics Designs, Multimedia/Video Production, Multi-platform Video Production and Delivery or Television/Video/Fil/Broadcast Management.
- In addition, one of the following must be met:
- At least two of the four years must have occurred within the last five years OR
- Two years of teaching Television and Video Production course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in-person and online.
- Experience using a variety of instructional methods including: face-to-face, blended, and 100% online preferred.
- Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency.
- Working knowledge of computers and software related to instructional area including MS Office/Google Suite, data systems, mobile technologies, web conference tools, and social networking; and knowledge of, or willing to learn, Blackboard or similar learning management system (LMS) preferred.
- Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly required.
- Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
- Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic competency attainment.
- Must be able to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social and educational backgrounds.

RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.75%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.75% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee’s behalf.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produces assigned newscasts and news inserts making decisions on story lineup, video/audio elements, graphics and timing to construct show
- Work regularly with daily news staff to anticipate and produce special elements to enhance news coverage
- Produce special programming, include live shows as needed
- Writes news stories for an assigned newscasts; ensuring content is factually correct and written in a clear and concise conversational style

Associate Producers help the Staff Producer and talent in all areas of their work: writing, running scripts, tracking down information via phone or online. You will be producing segments so bring your creativity and your energy!! We want you to know the people in the know – and get them on the show! We want guests who are opinionated, controversial and funny. And whether you’re booking guests or producing segments, we need it to be great TV. This is the path to becoming a full-time show producer, so on-air wannabe’s won’t cut it. If you’ve got some experience in a newsroom, are passionate about quality, teamwork and time management then this might be the job for you!!
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications is required. Previous experience in a TV newsroom as a broadcast news producer or digital producer is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication is a must.
