Overview:

Currents News is looking for an experienced, ambitious, and creative journalist who can jump into a fast-paced newsroom environment to assist in the production of a Catholic–based TV news program. If you are looking for a fantastic opportunity where you will be able to contribute your experience and grow into a producer role, this is it. The associate producer wears multiple hats and plays a vital role in the day-to-day production of the newscast. You will work closely with the EP, reporters, and production staff. You will contribute by pitching stories, writing scripts, editing video, help with breaking news, learn how to line produce, write in-house packages, assist with the running of the assignment desk, and contribute to other brands within the news department.

Responsibilities:

  • Write vos and in-house packages
  • Pitch and develop stories
  • Produce interview segments with supportive material such as video, sound bites, and ordering graphics
  • Edit short vides for vos, vo/sots, and interview segments
  • Learn how to line produce under the direction of the EP, and then fill-in for them when they are absent
  • Work closely with the assignment desk to communicate story and information needs
  • Fill in and assist on the assignment desk, as required
  • Train new writers and interns
  • Assist with field requests from reporters on obtaining file video and/or creating graphics
  • Print scripts and distribute rundown before the program is recorded.

Background, Skills, Requirements:

  • Degree in journalism, broadcast news, or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in a newsroom
  • Exceptional news judgment and knowledge of how to avoid copyright infringement
  • Ability to edit on Adobe Premiere or equivalent
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Experience working on digital platforms with ability share content on social media
  • Strong and proven ability to multi-task and to work under deadlines
  • Willing to work late hours and weekends, as needed
  • Basic knowledge of Catholic Church, teachings, and traditions is a plus

Position Requirements

The Creative Director (CD) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the outstanding quality of all creative products produced by the internal agency. The Creative Director reports to CMO and works collaboratively with agency staff and vendors, and regularly engages with cross-functional teams and leaders to manage a pipeline of work from multiple business units.

    As an Art Director on the Creative Campaign sub-team within our Creative Design team, you will be at the heart of coming up with big campaign ideas and boundless brand extensions, and work with teams across Cash App to bring them to life. You’ll be asked to translate project strategy into innovative advertising experiences across every medium.
