In this role, our Audience Insight Manager will support the Head of Audience Insight in representing the voice of the consumer and driving audience-led thinking across the business.

Our Audience Insight team sits at the heart of our Brand division which has a number of central areas of specialist expertise, supporting and working closely with our nine publishing houses to connect our books and authors with readers. The department, made up of around 65 people, includes experts from digital marketing, brand, communications, design, consumer insights, events production and more.

The iconic Penguin brand, by far the most well known in publishing, means we have the potential to leverage the power of our brand to help readers discover our books and to champion the causes we care about. We’ve recently undergone an internal reorganisation in our department to enable us to take advantage of this unique opportunity, building a leading digital marketing team and platform. Audience Insight is core to this work and the focus of the department is centred on understanding our target audiences and driving audience engagement. Alongside the key role of the team within the Brand department, we also run insight projects with the independent publishing houses on leading author brands to help understand their audience and guide marketing and editorial decisions.

Some of your responsibilities include:

  • Leading audience insight work on the Penguin Brand and digital channels, including managing our in-house brand tracker with twice-yearly reporting and supporting the development of our digital channel and content strategies, aligned to the department strategy and focused on our target audiences.
  • Supporting our Head of Audience Insight and Planning and Central Agency Director on managing team communications, including oversight of our internal website and managing our Audience Insight Forum with representatives from around the business as well as supporting on internal team training and coaching.
  • Acting as an Insight expert working with teams from across our nine publishing houses and group functions to develop insight briefs and deliver actionable insight projects – sometimes with agencies, sometimes using our in-house panel and data resources.
  • Working with the wider Audience Insight on strategic workstreams such as cultural trends, consumer closeness and standardised consumer testing.

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Bring an outside perspective into the business keeping track of consumer trends, as well as innovative methodologies and best practice from the insight industry.
  • Have a solid insight background in market research methodologies and applications, with a good understanding of both qualitative and quantitative approaches gained in either an agency or in a hands-on client-side role. Experience with third party data sources and semiotics/cultural analysis is a bonus.
  • Have experience of working on brand strategy or user-experience and experience of managing continuous insight projects.
  • Have great communications skills and confidence presenting to a wide range of business stakeholders.
  • Be a relationship builder at all levels across an organisation with the ability to influence and manage expectations.

The Creative Director, Head of Motion Design, is responsible for overseeing the growth of the Motion Design offering inside PXP and maintaining the highest standards of creative execution. This position requires business and creative acumen, as well as the ability to lead a team of artists to ensure that they are aligned with PXP’s values, vision, and mission. Leadership qualities will be critical, as the Head of Motion Design will manage over 10 artists located across the country.

In addition, this role is responsible for driving the business forward by being at the forefront of innovation within the Motion Design space. This requires an expert level of understanding about software, technology, efficient pipelines/workflows, and premium creative executions. The Head of Motion Design is also responsible for partnering with cross-functional partners to ensure a consistent creative vision for all projects that are within their purview.

This person will partner closely with the Executive Creative Director – Post Production, as well as the Heads of Production, to help build out the Motion Design offering so that it flourishes at PXP.

  • Come up with creative solutions and ideas and guide clients through the Motion Design creative process.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops social media graphic content that harmonizes our message across medium.

About this role

The Creative Design Team at Soze integrates social impact strategy to communicate stories through creative visuals and design that can come to life through an array of mediums and experiences. We are hiring a well-rounded Art Director to join our team of storytellers, entrepreneurs, strategists, optimists and creatives. Our ideal candidate is an interdisciplinary designer who has training and experience as a graphic designer yet can share meaningful art direction and creative feedback for our team on various storytelling outputs from digital content to IRL  experiences.

You have experience creating graphics for different mediums, including experiential; presentation design, environmental graphics, signage, and branding for the digital and physical worlds. You might also love photography or have wet your feet in UX/UI design or motion graphics.

You have a diverse set of references that you draw to find inspiration whether it is post-war Sainsbury’s Design Studio to Wangechi Mutu — that supports the team in ideation to develop grounded design concepts.

Responsibilities

Art Directors are expected to be designers while also being conceptual thinkers, problem solvers, and storytellers who work across integrated teams and multiple projects—internal and external. 

  • Provide end to end art direction and execution for branding, events, experiential and exhibit design, 360 campaigns, social, editorial, video and photo shoots
  • Collaborate with a team to develop strategy and design for internal and external projects
  • Production and execution of a broad array of visual communication, content and experiential pieces
  • Collaborate with a team of creative designers & strategists, architects and production artists and working in close collaboration with other CSM teams (business development, accounts, partnerships, PR/communications and digital) as appropriate

Experience 

  • 3-5 years of design experience ideally in a creative agency, design studio or similar environment. 
  • Strong and rapid visual design skills, whether hand sketching, mock-ups, 2D or 3D renders
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with emphasis on InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Advanced knowledge of presentation software including Keynote, PowerPoint, Google Slides
  • Strong graphic/typography skills and a keen eye for exceptional aesthetic executions
  • Strong comfort level researching mediums in which you may never have worked (video, interactive technology, social media, emerging technologies, etc) so as to grant flawless execution 
  • Experience in conceptual content development and video editing; at a minimum, strong skills storyboarding and collaborating with photographers, videographers, directors and/or content teams. 
  • Strong understanding of how to translate the client’s objectives into creative solutions.
  • Oversee installations on site as needed, ability to travel for projects
  • Strong organizational abilities, including time management and attention to detail. 
  • Proven and tested ability to juggle multiple projects, navigate various working styles, and maintain an optimistic, solutions-oriented attitude through it all.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Google Workplace, Asana and other project management systems, and understanding how they integrate with creative workflows
  • Oversee installations on site as needed, ability to travel for projects
  • Plusses: Experience with FIGMA, AdobeXD or other product prototyping software; comfort with collaborating with and directing digital teams
  • Knowledge of After Effects and motion graphics big plus

Salary + Benefits

  • Salary band for this role is $86,000 to $99,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
