Job Description
As the Director, 3D, you will be responsible for leading digital development and constructing roadmaps for all CG products, establishing a key set of technical features and elements for product experience, creating 3D virtual collections without the need of physical samples, and implementing digital visualization technology and 3D content for use by the Product and Commercial teams.
The Role:
- Plan and oversee 3D projects, including the management of budget and creation of development calendars with milestones and internal/external input
- Source and collaborate with third party 3D studios and vendors to ensure project visions are met and to support collaborations
- Negotiate contracts with consulting firms
- Select correct fundamental technologies for new 3D projects
- Create a visual style based on the vision for the project
- Design and provide art direction for various projects in collaboration with designers and merchants
- Collaborate with overall Product Team to Create 3D visual content for internal and wholesale presentations
- Provide coaching and share technical expertise with in-house 3D designers
- Create and maintain 3D library
- Participate in creation of Sales Meeting and Sales Conference presentation content
- Build strong cross functional partnerships with Marketing, Sales Planning, Merchandising and Product Development and Engineering.
- Partner with the Marketing Team to maximize the use of 3D content across the business
- Implement best industry practices; drive continuous advancement of 3D tools and applications; research and implement emerging 3D tools and 3D trends
About You:
- A minimum of 4 to 6+ years in 3D industry
- A minimum of 2 years in a project leadership position
- Demonstrated proficiency using digital design applications such as Maya or Modo, V-ray or Arnold, Zbrush, Keyshot, Photoshop
- Experience with Substance Designer/Painter, Rhino, After Effects or Nuke a plus
- Degree in Design an asset
- Collaborative and supportive leadership style; able to coach and provide direction to 3D team members and 3D content users
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Process orientation: demonstrated ability to develop repeatable processes
- Open and collaborative style; must be comfortable working in an environment where ideas are shared and challenged
