Scarlett Johansson Says It’s “Obnoxious” For Her To Complain About the Gender Pay-Gap

Scarlett Johansson says it’s “obnoxious” for her to complain about the Hollywood pay-gap.

In the new issue of Cosmopolitancover star Scarlett Johansson discussed the topic of the the gender pay gap. Though the actress fights for equal pay, she doesn’t really like talking about it.

“I am very fortunate,” she tells Cosmo. “I make a really good living, and I’m proud to be an actress who’s making as much as many of my male peers at this stage.”

She adds:

“I think every woman has [been underpaid], but unless I’m addressing it as a larger problem, for me to talk about my own personal experience with it feels a little obnoxious. It’s part of a larger conversation about feminism in general.”

Scarlett’s comments mirror Jennifer Lawrence’s discussion on the gender pay-gap in Hollywood.

Jennifer Lawrence just slammed the gender pay inequality in Hollywood in an essay addressing revelations from the Sony Hack that she was earning way less than her male co-stars in American Hustle.

Related: ‘Ghost in the Shell’ Starring Scarlett Johansson Open Casting Call

It’s hard for me to speak about my experience as a working woman because I can safely say my problems aren’t exactly relatable. When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with dicks, I didn’t get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself. I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early. I didn’t want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don’t need. (I told you it wasn’t relatable, don’t hate me).

The Oscar Winner said her decision not to fight for higher pay was impacted by her need “to be liked” and her fear of coming off as “difficult” or “spoiled”. Jennifer Lawrence said those image concerns are also part of America’s culture to not “offend or scare men”.

Johansson also talked about Planned Parenthood:

“There are countries at war, there’s terrorism, global warming, and we’re like, ‘We should definitely cut the budget for Planned Parenthood. Let’s take away the availability of women’s health initiatives!’… It’s nuts. We’re talking about preventing cervical and breast cancers. Growing up, I used [PP’s] services. All my girlfriends did—not just for birth control but for Pap smears and breast exams. You read about the rise of back-alley abortions, women having to mutilate themselves and teenagers having to seek help in unsafe conditions, and for what?! We’re moving backward when we’re supposed to be moving forward.”

Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Her “Crazy” Night with Emma Stone

Jennifer Lawrence reveals intimate details about her life as an actress and 20-year-old

With the anticipation for the new X-Men: Apocalypse movie is expected to be released next month, Jennifer Lawrence is starting to make her promotional movie tour around the country.

Related: Jennifer Lawrence Doesn’t Want to Leave the X-Men Franchise

Her first interview started with Harper’s Bazaar, where the Hunger Games actress discussed her sex life, her equal pay essay for Lena Dunham’s newsletter, and how she doesn’t “really stay out late”. And that’s when things got interesting…

“It’s hard to get me out, and when I do go out I don’t really stay out late. If I do stay out late and I’m partying hard, I will throw up. I don’t have the tolerance to black out; I just start puking. Ask Emma Stone. It was the night we saw Adele in L.A. She just started rubbing my back. She was really sweet. I was like, ‘Get out of here. It’s so gross.’” Add to that party compadre Woody Harrelson.

“Woody cut his foot. He stayed over in one of my guest bedrooms, but that’s where I started puking. I broke a candle because I can’t just puke like a normal person — I flay my arms everywhere. And I didn’t clean it up because I’m an asshole. The next day he cut his foot open. I was like, ‘F*ck, am I going to get sued?’ And he’s like, ‘Are you going to ask if I’m okay?’” She sips her tea. “That night got crazy.” (Via)

Jennifer Lawrence is just like any other 25-year-old partying and puking like everyone else. However, unlike most 25-year-old she has a real issue with body types and body images and will speak out about what matters to her.

“I would like us to make a new normal-body type,” she says. “Everybody says, ‘We love that there is somebody with a normal body!’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t feel like I have a normal body.’ I do Pilates every day. I eat, but I work out a lot more than a normal person. I think we’ve gotten so used to underweight that when you are a normal weight it’s like, ‘Oh, my God, she’s curvy.’ Which is crazy. The bare minimum, just for me, would be to up the ante. At least so I don’t feel like the fattest one.” (Via)

Jennifer Lawrence’s charisma, charm and personality allows for her to become and remain as one Hollywood’s most treasured talents. Her down to earth personality and ability to relate to nearly anyone has helped the actress transcend from B-rated straight to DVD movies to Box Office hit thrillers. Even if she does puke like a wild woman.

STUDY: People Really HATED ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Finale

0

Study shows that people really hated The Walking Dead season 6 finale.

Did you hate the Walking Dead season 6 finale? Well, you were not alone and now we have scientific proof that millions of people really hated The Walking Dead last Sunday. After weeks of anticipation, teases, and general anticipation that someone was going to killed off The Walking Dead, we got a first person account of Lucille’s victim without an actual payoff. While the ending is highly subjective, like Jay Z once said, “men lie, women lie but, numbers don’t.”

According to social media insight provider Canvs, over 70% of tweets during and directly after the finale were extremely negative. This data is culminated from 292,500 “Emotional Reactions” from 932,308 total tweets. Basically, people really hated the season six finale of The Walking Dead.

The report states:

“In the closing moments of the finale, the predominant ERs were ‘crazy,’ ‘dislike,’ ‘hate’ and ‘upset,’ accounting for more than 70 per cent of all reactions (vs. 15.2 per cent ‘love’ and 6.4 per cent ‘good’)”

It’s interesting to point out that Daryl Dixon came out in the defense of the cliffhanger episode. While on The Today Show to promote his new movie Sky, in which he stars alongside Diane Kruger, Reedus made a few comments about The Walking Dead. He started off by defending the finale by saying “Cliffhangers have been happening since the beginning of entertainment. That finale was about the change of power. So many people think our show is survivor’s island, who’s gonna eat it this week, but it’s not. That episode was to show the change of power: Rick goes into it real confident, and he comes out totally broken.”

The hour and half season six finale saw Negan’s group, the Saviors, hunt down Rick and the gang. The episode cut to black only to reveal the sounds of Negan beating one of the cast members to death.

The ending of the episode leaves the characters: Rick, Michonne, Glenn, Daryl, Rosita, Carl, Maggie, Aaron, Eugene, Abraham and Sasha in jeopardy.

‘The Walking Dead’ Cast Made a Promise to Never Talk About Who Negan Killed

0

Andrew Lincoln reveals the secret promise following the Season 6 Walking Dead finale.

Everyone keeps talking about The Walking Dead’s shocking Season 6 finale episode this week. But, did you know there’s a secret promise the entire cast promises to keep?

Related: Norman Reedus Knows Who Was Killed Off in ‘The Walking Dead Finale’ [Video]

When Andrew Lincoln was asked if he could talk about the fate of cast members following the season finale, or if he even knew what happened, Lincoln said this.

We kind of made a pact with each other, just because personally and professionally one of us is going. These people are lovely, dear friends. Including myself one of us is gonna get it.

“We all just made a pact not to discuss it. It’s upsetting. It’s too precious. There are certain things that become sacred on set and I’m afraid, I’m one of these people going, ‘I can’t talk about it.’

Every time we’ve lost somebody on the show they’ve been instrumental in storytelling. It’s the same thing. We lock up shop. We linked arms, [go to] our knees, and said, ‘You know what? Let’s not discuss this. It’s painful. No apologies.'”

If you’re hoping to find out who was killed off before the season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead, then you’re out of luck. It looks like we’re going to have to wait and see what happens before we can officially move on.

Fox’s Empire ratings drop 12 percent and hit season 2 lows.

The love for Fox’s hit TV series Empire maybe coming to an end as the hip-hop drama has hit series low ratings on Wednesday night. Despite, record setting American Idol ratings on Wednesday, people didn’t stick around to watch what Cookie and Luscious Lyon are doing.

According to TVLineEmpire, ratings drop 12 percent  to it’s lowest numbers since Thanksgiving’s mid-season finale, which is not a good sign for the once record breaking TV series. However, the show still was able to draw in 11.3 million viewers and 4.2 in the key demographic.

Many fans took to Twitter to voice their frustrations with the second season of Empire.

But, Empire was not alone as ABC’s Modern Family and Black-ish ratings hit series low ratings.

With their first originals against Empire Season 2B, Modern Family (7.4 mil/2.2) and black-ish (5.5 mil/1.6) slipped two and three tenths in the demo, respectively, hitting and tying series lows. [TVLINE]
