Ratings for BET Awards 2015 drop in comparison to last year…but why?
BET networks recently held their annual awards ceremony to honor actors, singers, models, and entertainers on Tuesday night. However, compared to last year, not as many people tuned in to watch the network’s 2015 Hip Hop Awards.
According to reports, this year’s event only had 1.8 million viewers. While the BET Hip Hop Awards brought in 2.9 million viewers. That is a drop of 1.1 million viewers from last year.
BET Awards Boycott
It is important to note that the BET Awards were facing a boycott after people were upset BET did not air the 20th anniversary “Justice Or Else” Million Man March on Saturday. Social media users launched an online publicity campaign to encourage others not to watch the annual awards ceremony.
Democratic Presidential Debate impact
But, the BET Awards were facing off against the first Democratic presidential debate of the 2016 campaign which brought in 15 million viewers.In addition, Major League Baseball aired the National League Division series during the same time slot.
