Producer Barbara Broccoli, who is in charge of the James Bond franchise, has dropped a major hint that 007 could next be played by a black or female actor.
Barbara, 57, whose father Albert “Cubby” Broccoli turned Ian Fleming’s novels into a spy franchise, was asked if we could expect to see a female Bond or a black 007.
‘These films tend to reflect the times so we always try to push the envelope a little bit,’ she replied. ‘Anything is possible.
‘Right now it’s Daniel Craig, and I’m very happy with Daniel Craig, but who knows what the future will bring?’
Barbara has already reinvented Bond once, from a tall, dark-haired assassin to Daniel Craig’s blonde appearance.
Craig declared in 2015 that he would rather “slash his wrists” than play 007 again, but was persuaded last year, with the help of a $100+ million pay check, to sign up for a fifth movie.

Stranger Things 2 is arguably the most viral TV series of 2017. Since the show’s first season arrived on Netflix in 2016, fans have been wondering what will happen next in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana.
One character who is struggling to find her place in this world is Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Not knowing where she came from, she is now living in secrecy with Sheriff Hopper, but she has very distinct memories of her time at the Hawkins lab with another girl; Eight. Pushing her limits, Eleven takes herself on a journey to track down her “sister.”
Eight, also known as Kali, is played by Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen. Berthelsen landed the role last year and was forced to keep it a complete secret.
“I came to really love that it was a secret. I thought it was so interesting. I knew it would be better for the show as a secret. A year ago, it was a little difficult to not be able to reveal to people what I was doing. But I came to really like it once we started shooting.”
When she landed the part, Berthelsen had not yet seen Stranger Things, but she went on to binge the series. While watching the show, she searched for clues about her character, since not too much was revealed by the show’s producers, but since her role is a significant point in the standalone season 2 episode, there was not much to find out.
“I got these scenes that were so different from the first season. They had nothing to do with the plot from season one. While I was trying to find out what I was going to be involved in, I was really just excited about the rest of the characters. But I was searching for clues about my part.”
“[My audition material] was only a breakdown and three scenes. It didn’t have any of the characters’ names on it. It only had four lines about her: “She’s emotionally damaged, she has a hard time connecting with other people, she suffered a great loss as a child, and she’s been seeking revenge ever since.” That’s all I knew. I had to create the character based on this breakdown.”
Stranger Things showrunners, The Duffer Brothers, decided a man or woman could play the role of Eight, and Berthelsen landed the role. She says she trusted their decision to find the right person to bring the script to life.
“When we started shooting, I felt I really needed to trust their decision. I didn’t really pay much attention to it. I just needed to realize this is what they wanted, and this was how it was going to be. Any part you audition for, you’re finding a person and an actor who can respond to the material and bring something different or extraordinary to the text. Sometimes when actors don’t get the part, it’s not always about an actor being a bad actor; it’s about connecting to the material. I really loved this character, and I really connected with it, and I had a very strong vision for it. Hopefully, that’s what they really liked about it.”
Whether the character of Eight returns for Stranger Things seasons 3 or if casting calls for more leading actors will be released, Project Casting will keep you updated. Sign up for our newsletter for the latest entertainment news and Stranger Things breakdowns.
Kelly Marie Tran of Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now facing racist and sexist comments online.
Despite appearing in one of the biggest movies of the year, Kelly Marie Tran is still subject to the abuse held by online racists.
Last week, someone changed the Rose Tico page on the “Star Wars”-oriented Wookieepedia website to feature a character description that can only be described as racist.
The text has since been changed back to the original description, but the screenshot below shows the racist comments, which includes changing the character’s name to “Ching Chong Wing Tong” and referring to her as “stupid, autistic and retarded.”
FANDOM, the company behind the page, has removed the comments and banning any new Rose Tico edits.
“FANDOM has a zero tolerance policy for vandalism, inclusive of racism and harassment,” the company told Newsweek. “The wiki admins take this very seriously and took the steps to resolve this situation as quickly as possible, including escalation to our team, and subsequent lockdown. This lockdown will remain for the foreseeable future and we will be closely monitoring activity on this wiki.”

Netflix’s first major attempt at a big-budget film, Bright starring Will Smith, drew enough viewers in its first three days to compete with the opening-weekend audiences of several major Hollywood movies this year, according to a new report by Nielsen.
Nielsen said Thursday that Bright had 11 million viewers between December 22nd through the 24th in the U.S. If those viewers each paid the average movie-ticket price of about $9, that would result to a box office opening of $99 million, which is close to what Universal Pictures’ The Fate of The Furious made in April.
That said, Netflix subscribers use the service to get a variety of shows to watch, and may not have paid to go see Bright if it was only available in theaters. Moreover, Netflix also disputes Nielsen’s methodology, in part because it only measures views on televisions, leaving out computers and phones. Netflix does not release their audience data.
But those numbers are very encouraging for Netflix, which spent approximately $90 million to make the buddy-cop Will Smith, especially considering the movie only got positive reviews form 12% of top movie critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Former Last Comic Standing winner Iliza Shlesinger is reportedly getting sued after hosting a comedy show in Los Angeles that did not allow for men to attend.
The Hollywood Reporter reports a man named George St. George alleges he purchased two tickets to the comedian’s November 13th show called Girls Night In With Iliza — No Boys Allowed. When he arrived to pick up his tickets, he was told that he would have to sit in the back of the theater because of his gender. He and a friend ordered food and, when they returned, they were told that Schlesinger and the theater have decided to not allow men from being admitted to the show, and they were offered a refund for their ticket.
“Girls’ Night In is a hybrid stand up show and interactive discussion between Iliza and the women in the audience aimed at giving women a place to vent in a supportive, fun and inclusive environment,” the . “She invites women of all walks of life to come, laugh with her and at her and be ready to share and feel safe for an awesome night of comedy and love.”
St. George, 21, reportedly called the situation “repugnant” and went on to claim that the show, “repudiated hundreds of years of women’s struggles to be viewed as being equal to men and is typical of old-fashioned sexism that might also advise a young woman that her best chance for a happy life is to ace her home economics class and learn how to make a queso dip from Velveeta to catch a good man.”
TMZ points out, St. George allegedly also compared his experience to the civil rights movement. He also asked the question how is a Girls Night different from a “Caucasian Night” or “Heterosexual Night.”

According to Georgia.org, producers are now accepting resumes for all crew positions. As a result, producers are looking for production assistants, grips, gaffers, make-up artists, stylists, wardrobe artists, and other crew members to work on the upcoming feature film.
The Goosebumps sequel is now reportedly called Goosebumps: Slappy’s Revenge and is expected to focus on the eponymous evil dummy. Details surrounding the sequel to 2015’s Goosebumps movie have been pretty sketchy up until now. The sequel, which was previously confirmed as being titled Goosebumps: Horrorland, may well now be moving in a different direction plot-wise and link closely with events in the original film, as well as a classic book from the original Goosebumps book series.
Goosebumps the movie was released in October 2015 and made a tidy worldwide gross of $150M from a budget of $58M. It starred Jack Black as a fictional version of real-life author R.L. Stine, who had to deal with his literary monsters escaping from his books and terrorizing a small town. Directed by Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens), it gained a good critical response and expertly tapped into the love for the YA horror novels that so many people grew up with or introduced their families too. A sequel was announced in 2016 and expected to move forward with the original star and director.

Despite being an award-winning actress, Jennifer Lawrence is giving back to her hometown.
For the fifth year in a row, the 27-year-old actress visited a children’s hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, during the holidays.
This year, Lawrence met patients at Norton’s Children’s Hospital on Christmas Eve, happily taking pictures as she brought some festive cheer to the kids.
“Louisville’s own Jennifer Lawrence stopped by Norton Children’s Hospital today to visit with patients, families, and staff,” the hospital shared on their Instagram page on Sunday. “This visit has become a tradition for Lawrence each Christmas. Thank you, Jennifer! You sure do bring a smile to all! ???.”
The actress has a history of giving back to the community. Last year, she donated millions to the medical center. She also announced the establishment of the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air helped launch the acting career of Will Smith.
Recently, the actor opened up about what makes the TV series so cringe-worthy for him during a recently taped appearance on The Graham Norton Show.
“It was my very first role, and I was very, very focused on being successful, so I learned the whole script and everyone else’s lines,” Smith said. “If you watch the first four or five episodes, you can see I’m mouthing other people’s lines. It’s terrible and I can’t bear to watch it.”
It looks like it may be worth watching the TV pilot.
Will Smith played the character of the same name for six seasons, from 1990 to 1996.
Smith, 49, also talked about a “Fresh Prince” reunion, telling Norton, “Man, I’d have to be Uncle Phil in that one now ? I’m nearly 50!”
Will Smith also spoke to Graham Norton about his new movie, Bright, which hit Netflix on December 22nd.
“[Bright is] Training Day meets Lord of the Rings,” he says. “It’s really a fun and bizarre action movie. It takes some time to get your head around. Joel Edgerton plays an Orc and had to spend four hours a day in makeup and I’d just turn up ready to go. It made him cross.”
Smith also admitted that there was one significant benefit to not doing a major theatrical release. “It’s a relief not having to rely on just one opening weekend at the box office to see if your film is a hit or not.”

According to The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the movie’s director Rian Johnson shared his feelings about changing an important part of Kylo Ren’s visual presentation in the movie.
After being bashed by Snoke in his throne room, Kylo Ren returns to the elevator and prepares to head out in his fighter to join the pursuit of the rebels. But before that, he takes his mask that he kept throughout The Force Awakens and smashes it. While the back-story for the scene made sense, it became a promotional issue.
“That was the big design choice with Kylo: losing the mask. It was a little terrifying because, by the time we were making the movie, the first film had come out and every kid was wearing Kylo Ren masks on Halloween. It was the symbol of the movie on packaging. And I love the helmet.”
Johnson explains why he decided to remove the mask. The scenes between Rey and Kylo Ren were a major part of the movie and removing the mask allowed for that to happen:
“But the whole premise of this film is that you’re getting inside this guy a bit more. More than that, Rey is seeing there’s more to him than she thought. And Adam Driver is one of my favorite actors working today. The notion of getting the mask off of him so we don’t have to deal with it and can look into his eyes seemed really important.”
The removal of the mask seemed to be a connection to previous movies. But it also clears the way for new characters to join the franchise and take in a new direction away from those who fought before.

Three more casting directors accept a plea deal following the “pay-to-play auditions crackdown”
Casting professional Ty Harman, who is known for casting Santa Clarita Diet, and The Real O’Neals, casting associates, Eddie Jaszek, from Castle, and Kate Reed from Shooter, had a plea arrangement with the L.A. prosecutor’s office.
Eight casting companies have accepted plea deals since February, after allegedly violating the Krekorian Talent Scam Prevention Act by requiring actors to pay illegal fees in exchange for auditions. Meanwhile, several other remaining defenders are scheduled for January court hearings, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Following an investigative report by THR about how casting professionals required aspiring actors to pay for “acting courses” in exchange for the ability to audition for a role.
THR reports some of the major acting schools profited from these auditions.
Harman agreed to 90 hours of community service, while Reed and Jaszek will respectively do 50 and 25 of service. It is important to note, convictions can result up to a year in jail.
Last February, Feuer voiced his support of aspiring actors trying to make it in Los Angeles saying, “aspiring performers who pursue their dreams should be treated with respect and never be exploited for profit.”
Meanwhile, SAG-AFTRA’s general counsel Duncan Crabtree-Ireland also spoke out in support of aspiring actors and cracking down on pay-to-play auditions.
“These people’s dreams were taken advantage of. These are not people of means. These are people barely getting by. So just to be considered for a job, it’s a real abuse.”
