Jake Johnson is most known for his role on Fox’s New Girl, but the sitcom star landed a role of a lifetime in the hit Tom Cruise movie The Mummy. So how did Johnson prepare for the movie? Well for one, he started going to the gym, but he wasn’t sure how to do it. Luckily, Tom Cruise was there to help him.
“People have told me in the past, including New Girl, that I need to lose weight and stay in shape,” Johnson told Thrillist. “But they don’t tell me how. It’s like, ‘Hey tubbo, fit into these slacks!’ Tom said, ‘I really want you fit for this movie.’ I literally thought I was going to have to call [New Girl costar] Max Greenfield to do Crossfit. But Tom said, ‘You’ll be training with me and my trainers. If you want I’ll put you on a food plan with my chef. The food is great.’ And the food was great.”
But it was not all protein shakes and sit-ups. Things can get kind of intense when Tom Cruise is your workout partner. Cruise said Johnson could use his personal gym whenever he wanted. But, what happens when your workout partner is an A-list actor?
“One day I [went] to work out and one of the [assistant directors] goes, ‘You can’t go in right now because Tom is working out,'” he said. “I thought, ‘That sucks, I got here an hour early to get this in, but he’s Tom Cruise.’ After, when we were shooting later that day, he said, ‘What happened to you? I thought you said you were going to work out this morning?’ I told him I was told not to bother him, and he got really pissed. He said, ‘Let me make something crystal clear: I don’t care what anybody on the crew says to you, they don’t know what I’m saying to you. And I’m saying to you that you are always welcome. I don’t care what I’m doing in there. You’re not other. You’re my castmate. Come in.’ He’s the best.”
Johnson had to make some minor adjustments working with Tom Cruise. In fact, he would have to jump through fire.
“[Tom] does his own stunts,” Johnson said of Cruise. “I read the first act [of the movie] and it’s like, ‘Nick and Vail jump off a three story building as it explodes, they feel the heat on their backs.’ And when you read those little things somebody has to actually do that. That meant the fire would be touching us! That meant I was jumping through fire and I was like, ‘I don’t want to jump through fire!’ [But Tom convinced me,] he said things like, ‘Yeah, it’s going to be really hard and you’re going to be really scared and you’re going to get hurt. You’re going to work your ass off. I think you should do this.’ So the answer was a very easy yes.”
Sounds like working with Tom Cruise is unlike anything else in the world.

Police were called to a school play to calm parents down after the teacher bashed their children’s “rubbish” acting.
Students as young as seven were reportedly crying when they were blasted by their teacher during the Christmas show.
According to Metro, Headteacher Vicky Meadows is accused of “raging” at the young students, saying the play was not good enough and they were misbehaving.
Dad Chris Bewick, 39, said: ‘It was the Christmas nativity but after the parents had gone they were all dragged back and the head told how disgraceful they were. ‘The children were devastated and were crying.’
Another parent said he was proud of all the children’s acting in the performance at the Windsor Clive Primary School in Ely, Cardiff.
One parent commented, “All the parents were clapping and cheering at the end and we were very proud of all of them. ‘They are little children and it’s a school play – no one’s going to win an Olivier award. ‘There’s always one child that makes you go “awwww” but that’s the nature of the school play – it’s the same every year.”
Chris says he and several other parents have tried to contact the school but have had no response. So, 30 parents gathered at the school gates to demand an answer and the police had to be called to calm them down.
Lee Robinson, a father of two, said “The headteacher told them they had done brilliantly in front of the parents. ‘But my son said afterwards they were told that they were absolutely rubbish and if they didn’t behave better they would be given bread and water at the Christmas party.’
A spokesman for Cardiff Council said: Some parents have alleged that, following the Christmas concert yesterday, pupils were spoken to in an inappropriate manner. The school refutes this.If any parent has a complaint, we would expect them to use the appropriate channels to raise their concerns through the school’s complaints procedure.”

During an interview with AOL Build to discuss his new movie Hostiles, Christian Bale explained a more inclusive entertainment industry can help more people, not just white men.
“Our culture will be so much richer the day that we stop saying, ‘Hey, it’s all white dudes who are running things,’” Bale said. “Whether that be Hollywood, whether that be Washington, you know. We’re going to get, in Hollywood, so much better films and so much more interesting stories being told and America will become the America that the rest of the world sees it as, that makes it unique.”
The British actor added that he’s always viewed the U.S. as a “country of inclusion,” going so far as to say that’s why he chose to make a life and raise his family here.
“It’s the reason why I moved here,” he said. “It’s the reason why my kids have American accents.”

Marvel’s Infinity Warsis still filming throughout Atlanta, Georgia. But one superhero took the time to give back to the Georgia community.
Marvel star Tom Holland made a surprise visit to Grady Memorial Hospital. According to reports, he took some time out to visit patients and staff members at Grady Memorial Hospital over the weekend.
AJC reports, Dr. Walter Ingram and Dr. Rachel Williams led him on a tour of the Grady Burn Center, and Holland brought toys to children spending the holidays in the hospital.
“This is why I love my job,” he wrote with a photo he posted on Instagram (below). “Happy Christmas to all the little heroes around the world. Thank you Grady hospital for having us and I’m sure we’ll see you soon.”
Before leaving and hopping on a flight to the UK, Holland dropped off platters of Chick-fil-A at the nurses’ station.
Disney plans to release Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” as one film with production expected to begin later this summer in Atlanta, Georgia. Avengers: Infinity War is the upcoming sequel to The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. The movie is set to hit theaters on May 4, 2018. Details surrounding the new Avengers movie have not been released. However, the comic book character Thanos will serve as the main antagonist of the film, with the plot revolving around the Infinity Gauntlet and the six Infinity Stones. According to IMDB, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Brolin will star in the new Avengers: Infinity War movie.

In Kevin Hart’s latest book, I Can’t Make This Up, Hart explained that early in his career how he struggled to make it into Hollywood.
Hart explains that he was told by casting directors that he was either “ too young, too old, too good-looking, too ugly, too urban, not urban enough, or “just not what we’re looking for in this role.”” Ultimately, he says he couldn’t get any work in Hollywood.
But, it wasn’t until he had a meeting with a room full of talent agents pitching him movie he should apply for that he made a realization, which ultimately changed his career.
He explained that he changed his mainframe and started “going to auditions with the intention of not getting this role, but the next role. To make an impression, I’d pop right away: “Hey, guys, what’s happening? How’s it been going so far? Am I the first black guy you’ve seen?”
He used his comedic skills to his advantage. For example, Hart would “point to the guy who was lowest in the pecking order in the room: “If I don’t get the part, I’m blaming it on Ray right there.””
Hart explains that his goal was to break the tension and get them laughing, but without trying too hard. He would still work on getting into character and the part. But, if the role was not for him, he would still show up and share how he prepared and what he is capable of. “ I’d mix it up and play the character in ways that weren’t right for the film, just to show them that I had different levels,” Hart explained in his book.
“I almost always got a callback, and to this day, I’m still close with a lot of those people. The leading actors in Hollywood may change, but the players behind the scenes often remain the same. Even though they didn’t give me parts at the time, some of them ended up giving me great roles later,” Hart added.
To wrap it all up, Kevin Hart explained his best piece of acting advice. “So treat each moment like a seed, and care for it so that something beautiful can grow from it. That Ray kid you joked around with when he was just starting out may become a studio head ten years later, and will remember that you noticed him and treated him special.”
