The Georgia-filmed production I, Tonya is one of the most anticipated movies of 2018 and is arguably an Oscar contender. Recently, the cast and crew of the movie, Margot Robbie, Sebastian Stan, Allison Janney, Julianne Nicholson, Paul Walter Hauser, Writer Steven Rogers and Director Craig Gillespie of I, TONYA discussed with Scott Feinberg of The Hollywood Reporter what it was like to make the movie, lessons they learned along the way, and tips for aspiring filmmakers and actors.

Margot Robbie discussed what it was like to work as a producer and as an actress in a movie. She explains how she juggles both jobs. But, the biggest problem for an actor/producer is finding a team that loves your project as much as you do. “If you’re not all on the same wavelength…If you do not all love the material the same way, it is never going to work.”

Based on true events, I, TONYA is a tale of American figure skater, Tonya Harding, and one of the most sensational scandals in sports history. Featuring Margot Robbie as Harding, a mustachioed Sebastian Stan as her ex-husband Jeff Gillooly, Allison Janney as her mother, LaVona Golden, and an original screenplay, written by Steven Rogers.

How to make a short film

Hollywood is changing and the way aspiring actors could land major lead roles in a TV show or movie has been disrupted by the rise of YouTube and Instagram.

Nowadays, smartphones and pocket-sized production studios are the best places for an actor to get a start. In fact, casting directors revealed that the number of Instagram followers an actor has, the more likely they are to land a role in the production. As a result, aspiring actors can now form their own opportunities without the need of a talent agent, producer, or a major studio. But how do you do build an online presence?

In a recent actor’s masterclass with SAG-AFTRA Foundation, producers, screenwriters, and aspiring actors share how to write, produce and perform a short film. The video provides actors with a roadmap for writing, producing and performing in a short film that is eligible for submission to the Foundation’s biannual showcase, which is a great way to get noticed by major studios.

The video features panelists including Diana Amsterdam, Caytha Jentis and  Susan Miller.  Moderated by Lori Hammel.

Nielsen said last week that Bright had 11 million viewers between December 22nd through the 24th in the U.S. If those viewers each paid the average movie-ticket price of about $9, that would result to a box office opening of $99 million, which is close to what Universal Pictures’ The Fate of The Furious made in April.

YouTube Star Logan Paul Under Fire For Posting Footage of a Dead Body

YouTube star Logan Paul is under fire following a video that appeared to show a dead body hanging from a tree in Japan’s Aokigahara forest in Japan.

The video was uploaded Sunday under the working title “We found a dead body in the Japanese Suicide Forest” and had more than 6 million views in less than a day, according to New York Magazine. But Monday, Paul had taken down the video and issued an apology for his “mistake.”

“I didn’t do it for the views. I get views,” Paul wrote on his Twitter account. “I did it because I thought I could make a positive ripple on the internet, not cause a monsoon of negativity. That’s never the intention. I intended to raise awareness for suicide and suicide prevention.”

Logan Paul drew criticism for showing graphic images of an apparent suicide, especially since it comes in a 15-minute video where he pokes fun at Japanese culture.

“I don’t know what’s more disgusting, the fact that Logan Paul filmed the body of someone who committed suicide or that he was able to LAUGH after it,” one commenter wrote.

“How insensitive and sick can you be to film someone in that state,” another wrote.

When Paul and his friends find the body in Aokigahara, he is shocked with disbelief. “Yo, are you alive?” he says aloud. “Are you f—ing with us?”

Paul addresses his fans with a  serious message.

“Suicide is not a joke. Depression and mental illness are not a joke. We came here with an intent to focus on the ‘haunted’ aspect of the forest. This obviously just became very real, and obviously, a lotta people are going through a lotta s— in their lives.”

According to New York magazine, he also included a link to the American Society for Suicide Prevention in the YouTube description for the clip.

Just when you thought the hype around the Star Wars franchise was over, a new Shirtless Kylo Ren challenge is going viral.

Since the scene in the Last Jedi where Kylo Ren appears shirtless to Rey, via the Force, it really has been a trending topic on Twitter. Now, a Kylo Ren challenge has gone viral.

Do you, too, want to figure out if you look cool wearing stupid-tall pants? Then this is the challenge for you. Over the last 24 hours, dudes (and a few ladies) have taken to the social media site to post their own picture to the Kylo Ren challenge. All you’ve got to do is put on really high pants and share the picture on social media.

It really started going viral after John Mayer posted his own picture on Instagram wearing high waisted pants.

Showtime Cancels ‘White Famous’ After Only One Season

Showtime’s White Famous is coming to an end. Showtime has opted not to move forward with the second season of the half-hour comedy series headlined by Saturday Night Live alum Jay Pharaoh.

Based on Jamie Foxx’s personal experiences coming up in the business, White Famous hailed from Californication creator Tom Kapinos, director Tim Story and Foxx, who was a recurring guest star. It focused on a talented, young African-American comedian, Floyd Mooney (Pharoah), whose star is rising, forcing him to navigate the treacherous waters of maintaining his credibility as he begins to cross-over toward becoming “white famous.”

White Famous premiered on October 15th to mixed reviews. Foxx executive produced the series and the show featured Utkarsh Ambudkar, Cleopatra Coleman, Meagan Good, Stephen Tobolowsky and Michael Rapaport.

Jay Pharaoh took to Twitter to comment on the show’s cancellation. “The fans love @SHO_WhiteFamous and so do we, thank you all for the support, love y’all so much for taking to the show.. To BE CONTINUED!”
