At a BAFTA event in London this week, Robbie looked back on her nearly 30 film acting credits and producing work of the past decade.

Most recognize Margot Robbie from her role in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street or as Harley Quinn in the DC Universe. She also had a lead role in the 2019 film Bombshell.

Speaking to an audience, Robbie said that it was when she watched I, Tonya that she realized she was a “good actor.”

Robbie said it was “the first time I watched a movie and went, ‘OK, I’m a good actor.'”

Robbie’s 2017 film debut, where she produced and played the role of Tonya Harding, a real-life figure skater. The actress was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar as well as a Bafta award for her performance.

Robbie’s co-star Allison Janey played the role of Harding’s stern mother, LaVona Fay Golden, for which she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar and Bafta.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Robbie said that it was then that she felt she was “good enough” to “reach out to my idols,” including Quentin Tarantino.

The actor explained that by reaching out to Tarantino, she landed the role of Sharon Tate in his film Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood.

She stated that being able to work with Tarantino was a “bucket list thing for me.”

Although Robbie starred alongside big-name actors like Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, she didn’t appear on screen as often as they did. The actor said, however, that the smaller role “did not bother her” and that she “thought we got across what we wanted to get across” with the film.
