Studio Training Specialist

The Studio Training Team began two years ago as an internal training resource for Netflix Studios employees, dedicated to evangelizing and driving engagement of internally-built technology. Today the team sits within the Netflix Product Organization, specifically within Studio Product Innovation. This part of the organization is responsible for creating cutting edge software (product) that powers Netflix Studios and its content production pipeline from the initial pitch to one of our members hitting “Play” on the Netflix platform. As a part of the team that creates these products, Studio Training’s goal is to empower all users – internal Netflix employees and external partners – with the tools and confidence to utilize this technology to do their jobs faster, easier, and most efficiently. The team drives messaging out to users and back in from users to create feedback loops for the product development teams that impact product improvements.

Associate, Corporate Strategy, Planning & Analysis (Workforce)

We are seeking a highly quantitative, driven, and intellectually curious associate to join the Corporate Strategy, Planning & Analysis (SP&A) team. The Corporate SP&A team at Netflix is responsible for company-wide financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis. We derive a significant competitive advantage from the highly analytical approach we take to managing the company, and the Corporate SP&A team plays a key role in this area. Senior management heavily depends on the Corporate SP&A group to accurately track trends in performance and identify opportunities for improvement, and the outcome of our group’s analyses plays a critical role in the important and strategic decision making for the company.

Casting Administration Associate, Original Film

The Casting Administration Associate will be responsible for overseeing Casting Administration at Netflix for our Original Film group.  This will entail coordinating with casting, physical production, post-production, business & legal affairs, labor, contract administration, credits and other internal and external teams during pre-production, production, and post-production in connection with the engagement and crediting of performers, including actors, stunt performers and singers.

About Netflix’s ‘Don’t Look Up’:

“Don’t Look Up”: A Satirical Glimpse into Society’s Climate Crisis Apathy

In the star-studded 2021 film “Don’t Look Up,” director Adam McKay uses the narrative of a potentially catastrophic comet heading toward Earth as a metaphor for the ongoing climate crisis. The film, co-written by McKay and David Sirota, cleverly satirizes the often indifferent or even obstructive responses of government, media, and the public to the looming threat of climate change.

Plot and Themes

The plot of “Don’t Look Up” revolves around two astronomers, Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), who discover a comet on a direct collision course with Earth. As they try to warn the world of the impending disaster, they encounter frustrating apathy and bureaucratic hurdles. The movie’s dark humor and satirical tone underscore the real-world parallels of society’s sluggish response to climate change, emphasizing a general disregard for scientific expertise.

Stellar Cast and Performances

The film boasts an ensemble cast including Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, and more, alongside DiCaprio and Lawrence. The performances, particularly those of DiCaprio and Lawrence, were widely praised for their depth and timing, capturing the absurdity and gravity of the film’s themes.

Production Details

“Don’t Look Up” was produced by McKay’s Hyperobject Industries and Bluegrass Films. Initially planned for a theatrical release by Paramount Pictures, Netflix later acquired the distribution rights. Filming, initially set for April 2020 in Massachusetts, was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and finally commenced in November 2020, wrapping up by February 2021.

Critical Reception and Impact

The film divided critics. While some appreciated its bold satire and urgent message, others criticized it as heavy-handed. However, it struck a chord with many scientists who found its portrayal of media and governmental disregard for scientific warnings uncomfortably accurate. “Don’t Look Up” was named one of the top ten films of 2021 by the National Board of Review and American Film Institute, received multiple Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations, and set records on Netflix for viewership.

Cultural Reflection

“Don’t Look Up” serves as a mirror to our society, highlighting the absurdity of the world’s response to climate change. It portrays a society obsessed with superficial media cycles and political scandal over existential threats, a poignant critique that resonates with current global challenges. The film also discusses the role of celebrity culture and social media in shaping public discourse, adding layers to its critique of modern-day media consumption and its impacts on serious discourse.

Conclusion

“Don’t Look Up” is more than just a disaster comedy; it’s a compelling commentary on the climate crisis and society’s response to it. The film challenges viewers to reflect on their own perceptions and the societal structures that influence them. As our real world grapples with urgent environmental issues, McKay’s film urges us to look up and confront the reality of our situation — before it’s too late.

Donald Trump Rejected Meeting Chris Evans TWICE!

Donald Trump rejected meeting Chris Evans.

With Election Day only a few hours away, competition is at an all-time high between Republicans and Democrats. Currently, there is a massive push across Hollywood to get everyone out and vote.

Several celebrities have started using their platforms to help inform potential voters. Among them is Chris Evans, who launched A Starting Point, a bipartisan website, which focuses on informing people with accurate information. Evans does not add his personal views on the site, and he’s remained hopeful it will give voters more accurate information.

In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actor was asked if he was ever invited to meet with President Trump. But, the actor says he was rejected twice.

You have to, right? You have to. I shouldn’t say it that way. No, I asked him, and he said no. He said no twice, and so it’s like ‘Well, I did my part.’

Chris Evans is not new to politics. He regularly uses his social media platform to share his political views. Recently, he joined Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris for a virtual fundraiser called Voters Assemble! The Cast of the Avengers United for Democracy and other Avengers, including Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Saldana, Paul Rudd, and Mark Ruffalo.

Andrew Garfield is Hesistant to Return to ‘Spider-Man’ After How Sony Treated Him (REPORT)

Andrew Garfield is hesitant to return to the Marvel franchise as Spider-Man after how Sony reportedly treated him.

Several weeks ago, the news was reported. Jamie Foxx was returning as Electro in Spider-Man 3, which would establish a connection between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Amazing Spider-Man films. This report came out with another rumor that both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire returned to the franchise.

Now, according to We Got This Covered, Andrew Garfield is reluctant to return to the franchise due to the way he was treated during his two Amazing Spider-Man movies. According to their sources, “He is hesitant about coming back because of the way Sony treated him on TASM, as was mentioned in the Sony leaked emails years ago.”

Andrew Garfield previously touched on how it was difficult for him as an actor to work on a project where storytelling was “not top of the priority list,” which he says caused him to struggle with the acting experience. That said, Garfield is on record saying he’s a big Spider-Man fan, and his troubled working relationship with Sony must have ruined the experience for him.

Now that Marvel Studios is involved in the Spider-Man franchise, there is no word about how this will impact Garfield’s potential decision to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

‘Narcos: Mexico’ Will Return For a Third Season

0

Netflix confirms Narcos: Mexico is picked up for a third season. That said, actor Diego Luna will not reprise his role as cartel leader Félix Gallardo. The series co-creator Carlo Bernard will also be taking over from Eric Newman as showrunner.

“I am grateful for my five years at the helm of Narcos and Narcos: Mexico and am immensely proud of what this spectacular team has achieved with these shows,” Newman said in a statement. “Carlo Bernard is the first person I ever spoke to about this project over ten years ago, and I am extremely pleased to leave the steering of Season 3 of Narcos: Mexico in his very capable hands.”

The series ended with Félix Gallardo, played by Diego Luna, arrested and in prison for his crimes. Season three will be set in the ‘90s, following Gallardo’s empire’s actions leading into warring groups, political changes, and a drug trade becoming a worldwide business.

In relevant news, Narcos star Boyd Holbrook revealed what it was like to film the show in Colombia. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor Boyd Holbrook who plays DEA agent Steve Murphy on the series revealed what it was like to work on the streaming series.

He explains, “It totally changed my life, and I really mean that. It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done—the amount of work and how ambitious the show is because it is so ambitious. And then, to do it. It takes a lot out of you, but it was extremely rewarding. I grew. For an actor, to go to work every day is a really rare occurrence. You may work on a film for three months max, and then you’re off, so you have to find another job and then work another three months. So to go to work every single day, those 16 to 18 months, was incredible. Repetition is everything.”
