Andrew Garfield is hesitant to return to the Marvel franchise as Spider-Man after how Sony reportedly treated him.
Several weeks ago, the news was reported. Jamie Foxx was returning as Electro in Spider-Man 3, which would establish a connection between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Amazing Spider-Man films. This report came out with another rumor that both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire returned to the franchise.
Now, according to We Got This Covered, Andrew Garfield is reluctant to return to the franchise due to the way he was treated during his two Amazing Spider-Man movies. According to their sources, “He is hesitant about coming back because of the way Sony treated him on TASM, as was mentioned in the Sony leaked emails years ago.”
Andrew Garfield previously touched on how it was difficult for him as an actor to work on a project where storytelling was “not top of the priority list,” which he says caused him to struggle with the acting experience. That said, Garfield is on record saying he’s a big Spider-Man fan, and his troubled working relationship with Sony must have ruined the experience for him.
Now that Marvel Studios is involved in the Spider-Man franchise, there is no word about how this will impact Garfield’s potential decision to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
