Tall in stature and authoritative, Patrick is a retired, old school detective who interviews Shawn, a person with I/DD who lives in a group home. There is an allegation of neglect where a lapse in Shawn’s supervision led to him having sexual contact with another female resident. In this interview, Patrick doesn’t follow his training and treats Shawn as a perpetrator by focusing on obtaining information on the sexual act rather than in the lapse of supervision that is required for Shawn. In scenario #3, Shawn is a resident in a secure OCFS facility where he was mistreated and is interviewed by an investigator for a physical abuse allegation. In scenario #3 she interviews Shawn, a person with I/DD who lives in a group home who was allegedly physically abused.
