Here is some information on the short film:
The production of this short film has as aim, to portray and provide an insight into real recurring acts of misconduct towards the Asian community in Dublin since the surge of Covid-19, which are not experienced by people outside of this community.
Our short film, “Maro”, is based on one main character, Maro, a Japanese man based in Dublin who sees himself going through a narrative loop as the different acts of discrimination happen and as they build-up. The narrative loop will follow four different days with different events that will build-up as the character progresses in the film.
The four events will be based on real events that took place in Ireland through 2019-2021 to different individuals, but all these different stories will be represented by the one character, Maro.
Our film is set to last between sixteen and twenty minutes, it will be set in three different locations, Maro’s house, a coffee shop and Dublin streets.
We aim to start shooting in February 2022 in Dublin.
