A SAG low-budget independent feature film is seeking an experienced Production Designer for an upcoming August shoot in New Jersey. This character-driven film follows the emotional journey of two immigrants and their relentless pursuit of art. The creative team is looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented designer who can help shape the visual identity of a meaningful, story-first indie production. New Jersey–based professionals are preferred, though NYC-based candidates are also encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the film’s overall visual concept and design
• Collaborate closely with the director and producers to align visuals with story themes
• Oversee sets, locations, props, and visual continuity
• Manage art department elements within a low-budget indie framework
• Contribute creatively to a grounded, emotionally resonant aesthetic

Requirements

Job Description

An independent feature film production is seeking experienced crew professionals for multiple key positions on a non-union project filming across several locations in the United States. The production is looking for highly skilled industry professionals who can thrive in a fast-paced independent filmmaking environment.

Current openings include Script Supervisor, Sound Mixer, and Hair & Makeup Artist positions. Candidates should have substantial feature film experience and a proven track record within their respective departments.

Job Responsibilities

Script Supervisor

• Monitor continuity throughout production.
• Maintain detailed script notes and production reports.
• Collaborate closely with the director and editorial team.
• Must be fluent in Gujarati.

Sound Mixer

• Capture high-quality production audio on set.
• Manage and operate professional sound recording equipment.
• Ensure clean dialogue and sound recordings throughout filming.
• Must provide personal professional sound equipment.

Hair & Makeup Artist

• Create and maintain character hair and makeup looks.
• Perform touch-ups throughout filming days.
• Collaborate with the director and production team to achieve creative goals.
• Ensure continuity of hair and makeup across scenes.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7–10 credited feature film projects in the relevant department.
• Strong professional feature film production experience.
• Must be based in the United States and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• IMDb credits and/or a professional resume required.
• Reel, portfolio, and professional references strongly preferred where applicable.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced independent film environment.
• Department-specific qualifications required for each position.
