What we are looking for
The Creative Team is central figure in CookUnity’s Brand Marketing organization. This team leads the company’s creative and content vision, strategy and execution.
Its primary function is to drive the development of the brand’s aesthetic and voice through the strategic implementation of content. Their mandate includes production and management of creative and art direction, copy, design and filmmaking, and also leading the discovery and evolution of the emotional connection with the eater.
Success isn’t simply creating world-class brand experiences for the brand, it’s also being the team’s vanguard for cultural relevance.
The Creative Team plays an integral role in connecting the rest of the marketing team and the company to its brand expressions and experiences. And in turn, the other arms of Marketing and Product feed Creative the insights, customer data and performance data to build solid briefs and powerful brand interactions.
The Role
The Creative Director is a visionary, a discerning point of view and a shepherd, all in one. Success begins with a strategic eye, an ordered attention to detail and a graceful but firm guiding hand. The primary mandate is to manage a “studio” that not only produces an incredible volume of content and creative work from internal makers and external agencies, but also to deliver an excellent final product. This team collaborates with the rest of the Brand team to position CookUnity as the primary destination for the best food in America and with the Growth team to generate powerful creative assets that can perform efficiently in all paid channels.
This right candidate will be a master of managing multiple types of contributors and creators—a digital first view of design, video, copy, podcasts, editorial, etc. across all brand touch-points. And with the unique ability to influence people—agencies, vendors, cross-functional teams and executives.
Reporting directly to the VP of Brand Marketing, this role is a key player in the organization and collaborate closely with Campaign, Portfolio, Growth Marketing, CX and work cross-functionally with Product, Tech and Design.
Responsibilities
- The Creative Director will lead the marketing vision for our brand expression
- Provide the Growth marketing team all the creative assets they need to unlock great performance in paid channels at scale.
- Lead and inspire the Creative Team of designers, art directors, copywriters and motion designers—in-house and freelance
- Lead 3 creative pods, each including designers, writers and the support of producers and freelance editors and production:
- Performance Creative Studio—growth marketing advertising creative with a high iteration cycle to accelerate ad performance and improve brand experience
- Campaign Creative—from direct response all the way to 360 brand campaigns across all types of digital and traditional media
- Brand Creative—as that we just launched an internally-built, company-wide brand reimagining, this team is continuing to imagine the future of the evergreen brand assets design, positioning, brand strategy, product experience, brand voice + identity
- Lead + own key Creative’s initiatives from kickoff to completion—most notably the physical brand experience.
- Run cross-departmental discovery, overseeing shoots and production, hands-on in design execution for print and digital, addressing feedback from stakeholders, etc.
- Conceptualize and execute message and designs for marketing campaigns across digital and print
- Be a go-to resource for the heads of Campaign, Growth and Product
Qualifications
- 10 + years of relevant experience ideally within an in-house creative team
- Must have a background in art direction and hands-on skills as a graphic designer or copywriter
- Experience working for a DTC or subscription brand is ideal
- Experience in advertising / creating impactful 360 marketing campaigns
- Experience working with Marketing teams and understanding business metrics
- Experience managing and leading a creative team of designers, copywriters, etc
- Working closely with producers, project managers and production partners to create campaigns within budget
- Ability to successfully organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
- Experienced concept developer and strong in directing photo and video shoots
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and grow an in-house team
- Expert knowledge in Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite + Figma
- Great wit is a must
Compensation
- All final pay rates will be determined by candidates experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
- Pay Range: $150,000 – $175,000 per year
