JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Thinking:

Salary

About Special Collections and University Archives:

Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) is the primary repository for the University of Oregon’s archives, rare books, historic photographs, and one of the largest historical manuscripts collections in the Pacific Northwest. SCUA is also home to the Beach Conservation Lab, which works to conserve library materials while exposing students to conservation methods and education.

Our mission is to advance educational and research opportunities by acquiring, preserving, and making available a clearly defined set of primary sources and rare books, reflecting the written, visual, and audio history and culture of Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, and selected aspects of American and world history.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage all things production with a team to support, from social to paid media to merch.
  • The brand strategy team brings the yin, but you bring the execution yang.
  • Produce our post-launch campaign assets for paid media.
  • Create templates for schedules and asset delivery.
  • Work with our social team to organize and produce batches of assets.
  • Manage workback schedules, source vendors and build just about anything.
  • Design and iterate our tech-driven casting strategy.
  • Design and develop the format of our multimedia content, including participant actions and activities, to ensure audience engagement and a compelling storyline.
  • Management of contestants, audience, and projects at large.
  • Monitor progress and diligently inspect the quality of production to reflect brand ethos.

JOB TITLE: Creative Director, Experiential

POSITION: Full-Time

Applicants for this role must have live event production experience in an agency setting, and be willing/able to work from our office in Santa Monica, CA on a hybrid schedule.

Summary of Position:

The Mirrored Media creative department operates as the agency’s lead for creative ideation, conceptual development, experience architecture, brand storytelling and design.

We are currently seeking a Creative Director to join our team to support creative development and management of new and existing clients and campaigns.  The Creative Director will be responsible for spearheading the creative concepting and executional design of campaigns from start to finish.  Candidates should have experience working hand-in-hand with producers and external vendors to ensure all ideas and campaign elements are feasible given client goals, timelines and budgets.  The ideal candidate for this position will have experience crafting strategic campaigns, developing innovative and first to market ideas and overseeing all multi-platform design elements and teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as head of agency’s Creative Services department
  • Own full creative campaign cycles from RFP to execution to post-mortem
  • Develop creative strategies and ideas across all client projects, campaigns, and initiatives
  • Accountable for render to reality design execution; working closely with the internal and external teams to ensure all concepts are feasible and executional within budget and timelines
  • Generate and communicate ideas, updates, and deliverables across internal teams and clients
  • Design and oversee client pitch and project decks; including maintaining agency deck templates
  • Visualize brand experiences and guide creative execution across varied mediums
  • Build creative teams, oversee creative workflows and drive forward all design deliverables across projects
  • Manage and mentor creative department full time employees
  • Oversee Creative Services resource planning, including cultivating and managing roster of freelance talent
  • Develop and execute agency marketing materials across platforms (website, social, etc)

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6-10 years of creative and multi-platform design leadership experience 
  • Minimum of 4 years in an agency setting, managing junior designers and freelance creative roles
  • Specified experience developing experiential and event marketing creative
  • Strong technical experience with Adobe Creative Suite, 3D and CAD (or similar modeling) software 
  • Deep knowledge and experience working with experiential designers, graphic designers,  lighting designers, fabricators, set designers, and staging vendors
  • Strong understanding of live event production and physical space, with knowledge of experiential design, scenic design, architecture, or similar
  • Experience working on-site during fabrication and installation
  • Strong attention to detail and an obsession with brand and cultural trends
  • Ability to juggle multiple concurrent projects and tasks, completing work within tight timelines
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners, colleagues, senior management and executives
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft, Apple and Google applications 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 
  • Hybrid in-office (min. 3 days) and remote work schedule, based out of our Santa Monica office; candidate must be based in Los Angeles Metro Area 
  • Ability to travel within Southern California for shop visits and on-site install, as needed
  • Must be able to work at a computer in an office setting, and remain in a stationary position 50% – 100% of the time 
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends occasionally, and travel domestically and internationally as work requires
  • Must be able to work on projects onsite; often working outdoors, late hours, constantly walking up and down stairs, and often walking in excess of 20,000 steps per day

Overview on who you are:

  • Creative thinker with an emphasis on visual expression.
  • Developed design skills that move beyond layout within graphic standards into limited graphic design.
