Plaid Enterprises is a leading manufacturer of consumer products in the Craft and DIY category with national brands including Mod Podge, FolkArt, Apple Barrel, and Bucilla. We are a fully integrated in-house creative marketing team. The Brand Communications Manager will have experience in traditional marcom and e-commerce marketing with strong copywriting and storytelling skills to bring Plaid products to life across all marketing channels. Duties include developing, implementing, and tracking marketing programs for retail and e-commerce including in-store merchandising displays, e-commerce product display pages, DTC email, social media, and digital website campaigns. This role will work closely with the communications and content team, marketing product managers, graphic & design teams, and sales.

Primary Responsibilities

–         Responsible for the communication functions of planning and delivering multi-faceted content for Plaid’s website, brand catalogs, social channels, and retail e-commerce sites

–         Work with product managers to develop compelling content that illustrates the value and key features of Plaid products, including how to best represent these products in a digital environment.

–         Write clear product titles and descriptions using best-in-class search engine optimization terminology

–         Collaborate with product managers to understand their vision, brand voice, and target audience for products

–         Interpret creative direction and technical information of products for consumer and retail marketing needs

–         Ability to follow the company’s editorial strategy as well as write for different brand voices

–         Proactively leverage existing assets for use across retail partners and e-commerce websites

–         Ensure clear detailed timelines are established and due dates are met with accurate deliverables

–         Analyze and report on the performance and efficiency of campaigns

 

The ideal candidate will have the following skills

–         BA/BS in marketing or communications

–         3-5 years of marketing communications experience in a digital marketing, direct-to-consumer function

–         Strong project timeline management and prioritization abilities 

–         Search engine optimization understanding, and experience are key

–         Strong creative and technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills

–         Great attention to detail, ability to establish procedures, and to work independently as a self-starter

–         Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team

 

Plaid Enterprises

The Digital Content Creator is a dynamic and creative individual, responsible for creating DIY and craft projects and content from concept to final asset delivery. Organizing sets, preparing video equipment, filming live streams, creating short and long form content videos. This role will support the Content and Communications team across crafting, filming, and editing.

 

Primary Responsibilities – Content Creation and Execution

  • Create innovative, on brand, crafted content to inspire the end consumer to purchase Plaid products
  • Product – product development testing, projects for sales presentations and product packaging
  • Presentation – projects for retail point of sale signage, customer specific marketing campaigns and in-store signage
  • Digital Marketing – projects for social media and monetization campaigns, website inspiration, and                                           e-commerce assets 
  • Utilize craft decorating skills and knowledge of color and design to complete projects across a wide variety of crafts including painting, stenciling, decoupage, costuming, general crafts as projects arise.
  • Collaborate with team members, including Design, Marketing and Communications to ensure a complete understanding of the vision for the final project is executed to meet the objectives and timeline.
  • Assist in live streaming, scheduling, prepping, filming, and final asset delivery to the broader team.
  • Create, film and edit content to support business needs.
  • Ensure that all content meets established editorial, quality, and brand voice standards.
  • Stay abreast of social media and ecommerce developments and research best-in-class examples.

 

Skills Required for Success 

  • Project management skills, must be highly organized and able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines
  • Highly motivated team player with a positive and professional attitude, excellent communication skills, leadership ability, flexibility, and service focus
  • Expert at craft decorating techniques, as trends change, create new ways to use Plaid products and develop new craft techniques
  • BA in Film Studies, Cinematography or BS Degree in Design, Fine Arts or Art Education is a plus
  • 1-2 years of video experience
  • Core knowledge of social media channels and how to effectively create channel specific content
  • Good eye for design and visual aesthetics
  • Enthusiastic self-starter and passionate personality who enjoys telling stories visually
