Video Producer Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Corporation seeks to hire a Director of External Relations to identify, manage, conceptualize, and implement strategies to engage external influencer audiences, including media, national thought leaders, key policymakers, and influencers in the fields in which the Corporation. Responsibilities:

Influencer Engagement . Develop and implement influencer engagement and monitoring strategies, including the identification and cultivation of external stakeholder audiences relevant to the Corporation’s work and brand awareness.

  • Collaborate with the President’s Office and Programs in the ongoing development of influencer opportunities and lists, such as long-term relationships with Corporation Fellows and select grantees, strategies for outreach to policymakers, and engagement with Corporation peers and friends.

Content dissemination strategies for influencers and media

  • Work closely with program staff to help facilitate, develop and implement strategies for developing and disseminating ideas, publications, reports, and other content that enhances the Corporation’s work and impact goals to key audiences.
  • Work closely with Communications colleagues in digital strategies, social media, and publications to develop coordinated outreach plans and content production that can be multipurposed.
  • Manage staff as assigned, including the Corporation’s Librarian.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, or the humanities or social sciences.
  • Minimum of six years’ experience in PR, journalism, or related communications field, with three years’ experience in a senior level PR position preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of and contacts in international and national news media as well as online news and blogs in related program areas.
  • Strong ability to pitch targeted news stories and cultivate relationship with journalists.
  • Excellent editorial command, including strong written and oral skills, and ability to conceive of and create original content.
  • Significant experience utilizing a variety of media platforms, including social media; multimedia production a plus.

The Studio Coordinator is the first point of contact for our clients, ensuring they receive the full Smashbox Studios experience. We are hiring a full-time, in-person, Video Producer, starting January 16, 2023. Salary range is $50-$70k, depending on experience and skillset, plus benefits. Two years of experience working in the video production industry is required. We would also consider applicants with experience in advertising & wedding/event planning, but we are looking for someone with a strong understanding of how commercial film projects and sets operate.

 

We are small business, so we wear many hats depending on the project. We are looking for someone who has a degree of flexibility. Every project is different, so we are also looking for someone who is not afraid of challenge and uncertainty, and has a willingness to learn.

 

Our ideal candidate is someone with a high degree of professionalism and organization. You would be the go-to person for logistics for our projects. You would be working directly with our Executive Producer and interfacing often with our clients, crew, and cast. You will see projects through from initial point-of-contact with the client to the shoot day.

 

There will be opportunities to take on creative roles, but this is not a principally creative role. We really need someone who is passionate and skilled with communication, organization and logistics. However, producers in the past have grown into other creative roles (editing, directing) and we would welcome that if you show an affinity.

 

There is some opportunity to work remotely, but this is a mostly in-person role, so you will need to be based in Austin and willing to come into the office at least half the time. Working hours are very flexible when we’re not shooting, but on shoot days hours can run long. We occasionally work weekends and travel for work.

We really enjoy the company culture that we have built so far. Our office is a place where creative folks can flourish and have fun. It’s a peaceful environment. There’s no yelling, ever. You won’t hear coarse language. We’re not very edgy. We just like making cool videos with cool people.

The Multimedia Marketing Coordinator will also assist with digital communications on social media platforms and emails. Requirements:

  • Able to edit to a highly creative and technical standard to create engaging video assets using Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Interpret briefs creatively and respond proactively to feedback.
  • Export, conform and adapt files to various delivery specifications.
  • Experience editing and conforming for broadcast (TVC, DOOH).
  • Extremely organised mind with strong project management and research skills.
  • Strong knowledge of social media formats and best practice.
  • Good at ideation – coming up with brilliant ideas and concepts and seeing them through to completion
  • Mix audio, apply basic colour correction, liaise with outside contractors and comply with industry standards and best practises when needed.
  • Able to create titles and motion graphics in After Effects.
  • Ability to film confidently on shoots as a crew lead in studio and on location

Your Experience:

  • At least 8 years of experience producing digital videos
  • Prior experience managing every aspect of video production from start to finish, under tight deadlines.
  • A good understanding and interest in WeAre8’s mission brand ethos
  • Experience using multiple camera setups, including in studio and on location filming
  • A professional-level understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite, with a high level of expertise in Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • Management skills – be a mentor to more junior members of the team

Our editorial team is looking for eager writers to contribute Movie/TV news content under the leadership of the Movie/TV News Lead Editor in the position of Entertainment Writer: Movie/TV News. The selected candidates will help source, brainstorm, produce, self-edit and publish original new content for our knowledgeable audience and have the opportunity for tremendous career growth within the organization. Please note that this role does not involve video production or script writing.

Candidates should be passionate for the field of Movies/TV and preferably have an in-depth understanding of the latest, most breaking and biggest news trends. We want researchers whose fingers are firmly on the pulse of the Movie/TV world and its culture, and who know exactly where to look for its most interesting developments.

At the same time, we want seasoned content creators with proven experience writing clean, informative copy to tight deadlines and exacting editorial standards.

Expectations

  • Researching, writing, self-editing and posting 3-5 articles per week in CBR’s house style (following the requisite training and peer mentorship period)
    • This will include fact checking, formatting, linking and image sourcing/very basic editing (sizing, brightness, etc.)
  • Pitch story ideas when none are readily available
    • Exploring relevant news and social media feeds, including Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, TikTok and more, and tuning in to popular podcasts, streams and YouTube shows to enhance coverage.
  • Accept and apply any/all feedback received by the editorial team
  • Communicate openly and actively with the editorial team
