Selena Gomez reveals how hard it is to date an A-list celebrity.
Singer Selena Gomez, 23, broke up with Justin Bieber, 21, last year. The celebrity couple dated for three years on and off after becoming friends in 2009. She was under constant scrutiny while dating the teen pop singer. But, Gomez argues that she has no regrets about living her life in the spotlight.
In an interview with The Sunday Times Style Magazine, the 23-year-old singer opened up about how she felt “destroyed” by the press and even chased by helicopters due to her relationship with Justin Bieber.
However, the singer/actress revealed that she hasn't stopped looking for love, and spoke openly about her plans to find her soul mate.
‘I didn't think I was doing anything bad by falling in love,' explained the 23-year-old in the interview.
‘There's such an emphasis on people being the perfect thing and then destroying them because it's good press.
‘Also throw in the fact that you are a teenager – it makes it more difficult. The next relationship will be something dear to me. There is no way I will ever hide my life.'
On the lasting effect the relationship, which ended in 2014, has had on her life, Selena admitted: ‘It's difficult for people to separate us. The internet wants to freeze this moment in time and constantly repeat it.'
Selena Gomez also revealed that living in the spotlight can be tough, admitting:Â ‘Sometimes you have to lie to yourself to get through the criticism, and then you're in your closet crying.
‘It's been like that for me a couple of times, but I only want to learn from those things.'
Selena Gomez points out that her best friend, Taylor Swift, has helped her through all the hard times. ‘I can count on one hand the people I could call and who would be there for me,' she gushes. ‘Taylor is one of the greatest people.'
Selena Gomez may have everything in control but, her ex-boyfriend has had a rough couple of years. Justin Bieber was charged with reckless driving, vandalism and assault.
