‘Star Wars’ Adam Driver Reveals He Struggles With Being Famous

Date:

Adam Driver says being famous has not been easy for the Star Wars .

For as much as the world loves talking about Girls, the general public doesn't really watch Lena Dunham's millennial version of Sex and the City.

The ratings for the are tiny, even by HBO standards. In fact, this week's episode was watched by only 500,000 people. So most people, unless they recognized Adam Driver from a 2012 episode of Law & Order: SVU, have no idea who the guy is. That was until, Adam Driver appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And apparently Driver is having a hard time adjusting to his new found-fame.

On last night's The Late Show, host Stephen Colbert asked Driver whether he's used to people being excited to see him. “No,” he sheepishly responded, “I haven't really gone outside much in the past couple of months.” Driver says he has no problem with meeting kids, but “the parents is the scary thing.”

It is important to note that after 9/11, he enlisted in the Marines, serving for more than two years before being medically discharged after he suffered an injury, which prevented him from being deployed.

Driver then attended the University of Indianapolis (for a year) and then transferred to drama at Juilliard in New York, graduating in 2009. He began acting in plays, appearing on , before being cast in Lena Dunham's Girls (2012), as her character's interest, Adam Sackler. The role gained him attention, and he subsequently began a robust film career, appearing in small roles and supporting roles.

It wasn't until recently that he had graduated to major parts in the comedy-drama This Is Where I Leave You (2014) and the () and Martin Scorsese's Silence (2016), the latter film opposite .

Despite being afraid of the fame, Driver is on track to become one of Hollywood's most faces and actors.
