Many people argue that photoshop has gone too far. If you do a google search of Photoshop controversy you will see hundreds of stories centering around celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Amber Rose, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian getting into for photoshopping their pictures.

The media sometimes puts A-list actors, models, and celebrities on a pedestal. But, we shouldn’t be envious of Hollywood stars with perfect skin, bodies, and eyes. But, did you know many of our favorite celebrities use Photoshop to edit the way they look?

Currently, Israel is putting in place a Photoshop ban to stop regular people from feeling unable to compete with A-list celebrities flawless skin, six pack abs, and perfect jawline.

On March 20, Israel announced plans to enact the so-called Photoshop Law. This two-part legislation includes regulations on underweight models as well as limits to digital alterations of advertisements. The law requires any ad agency to disclose if photos of models underwent Photoshop alteration to make the subjects appear thinner. [Source]

‘Twin Peaks’ revival wills tart filming next month.

David Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks’ is returning after a two-decade hiatus. Showtime Network’s president David Nevins announced that the followup series from David Lynch and Mark Frost is expected to start filming in September.

David Lynch will direct all episodes and apparently, he and Frost wrote one long script. Lynch will shoot the series continuously like a movie, and later cut it into episodes. Originally, envisioned as being 9 episodes, the series will likely run longer but the exact number of episodes is still up in the air.

Casting for the series has not been released because it will be handled by Lynch’s company. However, Showtime president revealed “you should be optimistic that the people you want to be there will be there, in addition to some surprises.”

Originally slated for a 2017 premiere, there is hope that Twin Peaks could be ready by 2016. But, there is no pressure on David Lynch. Lynch has complete creative control over the project. “I’ll take it when it’s ready,” Nevins said. “I hope that’s sooner rather than later.”

‘Breaking Bad’ copy cat murders were finally caught in France after a long investigation.

Authorities in France have arrested and indicted four people in connection with a murder the police are saying was inspired by scenes from AMC’s ‘Breaking Bad’.

The Body of a 23-year-old French art history student, Eva Bourseau was found decompoising in acid at her Toulouse apartment. She was reportedly killed over an unpaid drug debt.

“What is striking in this case is obviously the profile of the defendants. … None of the four suspects has a criminal record,” prosecutor Pierre-Yves Couilleau told Agence France Presse.

Two men were indicted Friday for premeditated murder, drug trafficking and robbery and a third for murder by complicity, drug trafficking and robbery. A woman believed to be involved in the plot was indicted for drug trafficking. All are aged between 19 and 23.

Public prosecutors have said the killing was part of a murder plot inspired by ‘Breaking Bad’.

They claim the suspects attempted to replicate a scene from the crime drama in which Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, played by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, use acid to dispose of the body of a murdered competing drug dealer. One of the accused is alleged to have admitted as much to the prosecution.

According to reports, two of the three students went to Bourseau’s apartment to collect money she owed them, reportedly $6,615 (€6,000). When she was unable to pay, they allegedly killed her through a blow to the head. Then they tried to dissolve her body in acid.

Showtime just announced their plans for a Jim Carrey TV series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jim Carrey is currently working on a TV series.

According to reports, Jim Carrey’s new TV series, ‘I’m Dying Up Here’ is an hourlong drama set in the 1970s L.A. comedy scene and will be written and executive produced by stand up comedian Dave Flebotte from Will & Grace. The dark comedy pilot will go into the world of stand-up comedy and what makes people laugh.

Jim Carrey, the Canadian-American actor, is typically known for his slapstick comedy and in the 90s he became one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood. Getting his start with sketch comedy ‘In Living Color’. Since then he has worked on dozens of movies including ‘The Truman Show’, ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ and ‘Mr. Popper’s Penguin’s.

Most notably, in 2013, he appeared in ‘Kick-Ass 2’ as Colonel Stars and Stripes. Following the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary the actor bashed the movie. He issued a statement via his Twitter account that, in light of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary, “[N]ow in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence.”

Most recently, he played Lloyd Christmas in ‘Dumb and Dumber To‘ which received negative reviews but making well over $170 million in the box office.

Georgia’s film industry is growing at an exponential rate. But, is it growing too fast.

Georgia’s film industry is growing. The state has 40 TV shows and movies currently filming in Georgia all thanks to the film tax credits promoted by Gov. Nathan Deal.

Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man‘ filmed in Georgia, ‘Captain America 3‘ is now filming and according to reports, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2‘ will film in Atlanta, Georgia as well.

In fact, in 2013 there were 248 TV shows and movies filming in Georgia. In 2014, Georgia spent $1.7 billion in tax incentives. Then, the state Department of Economic Development asserted that the productions “generated an economic impact of more than $6 billion.”

But, how accurate is that $6 billion dollar number? According to a report by Politifact, Georgia may have exaggerated the impact the film industry has had in the state.

Ultimately, it alls comes down to basic economics. According to Politifact, in order to determine how much of an impact every dollar has on the state, Georgia uses a particular formula:

$ (How Much Money Georgia Invested) x 3.57 = Economic Impact

For at least 30 years, the state economic development department has multiplied direct spending by 3.57 to estimate impact.

In economic terms, that is a multiplier, or how many times each dollar of direct spending cycles through direct spending.

In the film industry’s case, that means the state calculates that every dollar of direct spending has generated total spending of $3.57 in Georgia.

Economist at the Andrew Young School of Public Policy at Georgia State University, Bruce Seaman thinks the multiplier the state is using is to high. He believes the industry multiplier should be 1.83 and that the film industry’s impact is way lower than $6 billion. In fact, he argues that the film industry’s impact is only $3.1 billion.

Seaman argues that for every $1 million a production company pays a big actor or director, how much of that money is actually spent in Georgia and does not go back to Los Angeles?

That is, for every $1 million a production company pays a big star – or $100,000 spent on hotel rooms – how much is captured in Georgia before the money goes back to the celebrity’s L.A. home or the hotel’s out-of-state headquarters?

“I want to know what it means to say, ‘that money was spent in the state,’” Seaman said.

But, Seaman does acknowledge the fact that Georgia has grown and developed a workforce capable of handling several major motion pictures at one time.  “The good news, really, is the tax credits are spurring an indigenous film industry taking shape in Georgia,” Seaman said. “It’s incredibly complicated and you would have to look at all of the details on a project-by-project basis to seriously know what’s going on.”

Ultimately, Politifact argues that the state’s formula fails to capture long term spending and investment in Georgia which could increase or decrease the economic impact the film industry has in the state.

Meanwhile, states like Louisiana and North Carolina are throwing in the towel. When North Carolina changed from a tax credit program to a grant program, crew members started fleeing the state due to the lack of jobs.

Louisiana’s Governor Bobby Jindal announced that they will be ending their tax credit program for a grant program instead. Which will be disastrous for the state. Disney-ABC already stopped production all of their shows from filming in Louisiana.

Since then major TV shows and movies are now filming in Georgia – including Fox’s hit TV series ‘Sleepy Hollow‘. Rumors are even circling that North Carolina’s biggest show, ‘Under the Dome‘ is considering packing up their bags and heading to Georgia.

But, it begs the question – is Georgia’s film industry going too fast? Will Georgia run out of qualified crew members to work on all of the TV shows and movies filming in the state and will Georgia still be able to provide tax incentives for TV shows and movies that spend upwards of $100 million?

Matt Dillon Joins Morgan Freeman in ‘Going in Style’.

‘Going in Style’ is now filming in New York City and casting directors are constantly looking for extras, stand-ins and apparently other actors to join Morgan Freeman on screen.

According to Variety, Matt Dillon (Wayward Pines) will join Morgan Freeman in the upcoming ‘Going in Style’ movie.

“Going in Style” will center around three retired guys who lose their pensions when the company they’ve worked for their entire lives is sold to a foreign corporation. Desperate for money to survive, they set out to rob the very bank that’s withholding their money.

Matt Dillon will play the FBI agent who tracks down the trio.

‘Going in Style’ features Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin. ‘Going in Style’ is directed by Zach Braff, the director of ‘Wish I Was Here’ and ‘Scrubs’.

TV Land cancels ‘The Exes’ after four seasons.

According to reports, “The Exes” was canceled by TV Land. The show’s star, Kristen Johnson said on Monday night on Twitter that the series will end after four seasons.

“It’s official. LAST 6 eps of @The_Exes EVER start airing this Weds. Even great ratings can’t  #SaveGoodTV,” the actress tweeted.

The comedy ran for four seasons before its demise.

Johnston went on to assure fans that she was okay, and has several other movies and TV shows in development.

“I’m fine. I’m working on HBO’s #GettingOn this week, as well as my own project I STILL can’t talk abt,” she wrote.

Kristen Johnston played divorce attorney Holly Franklin, who owned a New York City apartment inhabited by three of her divorced male clients (Donald Faison, Wayne Knight and David Alan Basche).

The cancellation follows TV Land’s June finale of “Hot in Cleveland” and the end of “Soul Man” after its fifth season. The series finale of “The Exes” will air Sept. 16.

As Gyllenhaal walked across the gym, a sweaty bantamweight called out, “I saw the trailer. You looked so cut!” The actor, whose regimen included a hundred pullups and a thousand situps per day, thanked him. After a moment, he confided, “A boxer walks into a ring, he looks fit—then they fight. There’s a whole language here that I was trying to learn and respect. Because I had very large doubts about whether I could pull off the behavior.”

Jake Gyllenhaal also revealed everything he learned about the sport of boxing.

He explained, “The first thing I learned was how to drag the back foot.” He skipped through a series of chain-gang lurches. “Never pull the back foot off the ground, or you’ll get tagged. Then ‘shelling up,’ defending like Floyd Mayweather.” He turned half-sideways, hunched his left shoulder and tucked his elbow to protect his chin and ribs, and peeked around his own ramparts. “And slipping the ropes: tedious, tedious footwork, turning side to side so your back remains against a rope running across the ring—totally not instinctual. I hated it.”

Sitting on a medicine ball, he acknowledged the appeal of redemption through savage self-discipline. However, he noted, “In ‘Rocky,’ which I loved for the characters, you had the problem of it being all three-punch combinations thrown from the floor and the actors overreacting to the blows. In a real fight, you rarely register that a boxer has been hit until he falls down.” He stood and put his nose against a heavy bag. “Terry had me get real close, and he taught me it only takes five pounds of pressure to bang someone’s brain into his skull and knock him out. I came in thinking boxing is about aggression and strength, and I learned it’s about grace and movement and accuracy.

‘Southpaw’ was directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by Kurt Sutter. The movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker, and Rachel McAdams. ‘Southpaw’ was a minor hit in the box office but, with a $25 million dollar budget, the film made over $50 million allowing for studios to double their investment.

Jake Gyllenhaal will star in the upcoming drama ‘Demolition’ and ‘Everest,’ a movie about the 1996 Mount Everest disaster.
