Disney-ABC Shuts Down All Productions Filming in Louisiana

Date:

Disney-ABC shuts down all productions filming in Louisiana after Gov. Bobby Jindal starts film tax credit cap.

The Disney-ABC Television group has put all of their TV shows and movies filming in Louisiana on hold due to the film tax credit cap signed into law by Gov. Bobby Jindal last week, according to Nola.com.

“They are not bringing any more projects to Louisiana until they get some of their questions answered about how this new law is going to be implemented,” Mulhearn said. He said he couldn’t identify the Disney-ABC official by name, but said the person was part of the company’s finance department.

“For the past decade, the state has been a top destination anyone shooting outside of Louisiana and they always budget for Louisiana,” Mulhearn said. “You can’t budget for something if you can’t determine the value of the credit.”

Gov. Bobby Jindal signed a bill last Friday placing a cap on the film industry tax credit that major movie producers strongly urged the governor to veto.

Jindal’s office announced the governor signed the bill into law, which basically kills thousands of jobs.

By putting per film tax credit limit, this will close the door to the number of high profile movies such as “Jurassic World” – which filmed in New Orleans, Louisiana late last year. It is expected that 13,000 people will lose their job.
